Here's one for you guys:

I recently decided it would be a great idea to install an xm radio and directly wire the power through the cigarette lighter. Thus, I removed the cig lighter area, disconnected the white plastic tabs from the wires, and hardwired the radio through this. Install went well, I replaced all of the removed wiring tabs and turned on the car.

Much to my surprise, the white to red swith now did not occur when I turned on my liights. Also, the sound system illumination is not working at all. I have NO CLUE why this has happenned. Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe you grounded the wire(s) and took out a fuse?

Gracias, gentleman. Sorry about the delayed response. I wasn't thinking when I checked the fuses & forgot that there is an "illumination" fuse in the mix. All is well. Thanks for the help

I have a similar problem.
I am powering the carputer i installed through the rear power socket.
I decided to hard wire the cables there are one Black and one green cable.

Does the green cable indicates reverse polarity?
