I have class, im curious to know if i can get there and back.. khtm 11-17-2005, 09:48 AM I've never even heard of anyone getting a spare for the 8. Most people have the flat tire kit. Putting a spare in the trunk throws off the weight balance. BlueEyes 11-17-2005, 09:49 AM as few miles as possible. ______ 11-17-2005, 09:52 AM mine was used, came with the spare and the flat tire kit. the wreck broke off my the tire valve so i dunno if i could have used the kit. khtm 11-17-2005, 10:28 AM I guess you could be the RX-8 club guinnea pig and see how far you can go :) ______ 11-17-2005, 10:35 AM lol great, ill see if i can make it back or not, i got a pic of the damage besides the tire and wheel, are there picture size limits on this board? QBallz 11-17-2005, 10:36 AM I believe most donuts are rated 50miles @ <50mph? Jedi54 11-17-2005, 10:51 AM Plus, you should only put the donut in the front. Someone told me that if you put it in the back it could damage the differential or something.... Car thinks tire isn't gripping properly (due to size) so it continues to try and compensate. ______ 11-17-2005, 10:54 AM its in the front, they backed into the front of me Jedi54 11-17-2005, 11:13 AM Found it! Owner's Manaual, page 210, Section 7-5 "With Limited Slip Differential When using the temporary spare tire on the rear axle, replace it with a standard tire as soon as possible. The size difference between the spare and the standard tire will cause the limited slip differential to malfunction" Glad yours is in the front because otherwise you'd have to swap the front tire to the back, THEN install the little spare... Krankor 11-18-2005, 12:20 AM Plus, you should only put the donut in the front. Someone told me that if you put it in the back it could damage the differential or something.... Car thinks tire isn't gripping properly (due to size) so it continues to try and compensate. Wow, thanks! Now I'm triply glad I didn't get the spare! :Peace: ______ 11-18-2005, 12:48 AM well i made it 30 miles, could tow it because its too low to the ground, so i had to drive it to the shop, 45 all the way. It seemed fine, and on the plus side it seems the tire is gonna be spared, somehow the guys trailer hitch only destroyed the valve lol cas2themoe 11-18-2005, 08:12 AM I've never even heard of anyone getting a spare for the 8. Most people have the flat tire (#) kit. Putting a spare in the trunk throws off the weight balance. I have one. But I took it out and its sitting in my basement now. Extra weight is not needed! :nono: But I bought it just to have it. I hardly ever drive real far from the house, so I'm in pretty good condition. But the tire is most def ugly! It's not like it weighs 200 lbs or something. :nopity: Yes, I have a spare, so now you've heard of it :) |
