View Full Version : Anyone waiting for 2005?
ZzRicezZ 07-28-2003, 01:08 PM Is anyone else in the same boat as me?? I'm thinking about waiting for the 2005 model.. As is currently all the dealer are telling me that only 700 are coming to Canada and they are all sold out.. but if I really wanted one they can try to get it at full price.. basically they wouldn't even listen to you if you are not paying MSRP.
Another reason why I want to wait is, this is a first gen and most likely the 2005 will get some improvement.. I'm wishing that it will come with climate control.. wishful thinking?
wakeech 07-28-2003, 01:14 PM ...i'm aiming for a new car by, oh, i dunno... 2010??
LiQuiDLaM 07-28-2003, 01:17 PM the "sold out" part is inaccurate! just 2 weeks ago, i knew of a Red automatic RX-8 that was available! and if you've read some of our previous threads in the Canada forum, a few guys found their 8 by calling up dealers all over Can! But choice is yours!
ZzRicezZ 07-28-2003, 01:22 PM yup i know for a fact it is not sold out cause the salemen said if i put down a deposit, he could get me a car in 3-4 months.. I personally don't wanna get a car during the winter.. so actually waiting for the 2nd gen might be worth it..
I'm not 100% sure of this, but with the miata I think there were no real improvements until the third production year. Then you started seeing some results from customer feedback and evidence that Mazda was paying attention to aftermarket improvements. And later on, again with the miata, the center console layout stayed in production for 1999 and 2000, finally getting changed out for the 2001 model. (That 1999-2000 center cosole was somewhat disappointing for many...)
Where am I headed with this? I figure it'd be the 2006 model before we see much change due to feedback. I just don't want to wait ;> --except for my yellow 1GT to finally arrive!
loco4rx8 07-28-2003, 02:01 PM I, too, am waiting for the next year. First, I need to save a bit more money. Second, I'd like to see them work out whatever kinks show up before I buy. But the waiting is getting sooooo hard with all these awesome reviews!
dankgummy 07-28-2003, 03:25 PM i'm waiting until this time next year too since i was too impatient and bought a 2003 accourd v6 coupe november of 2002. i have to wait to save some $$ and not pay the outrageous prices dealers are asking for right now. do you guys think that the car will be 1-2K under invoice around this time next year?
halfon 07-28-2003, 03:34 PM I put my 1000 deposit in January 2003 for delivery in may 2004.
no complaints from the dealer

I think you mean 1-2k under MSRP? Maybe. IMO, I don't think you'll see more than 1k under MSRP.
RotorMotor 07-28-2003, 03:42 PM Nah, by 2005 I be waiting (knock on wood) for an RX-7. I'll play with my 8 until then....

I hope my pre-order is here by then!! :)
No one at Mazda or the dealership seems to know for sure where it is or when it will get here. Just that it's somewhere in the woods of Michigan getting accessorized!!
Fat Morbo 07-28-2003, 04:16 PM Yes, I'll probably be waiting until about this time next year, to buy a 2004 model. :(
Unless they make some big changes for the better in the 2005, I'll save myself a few bucks and buy a 2004.
Smoker 07-28-2003, 04:35 PM I'm waiting for 2005 as well. Since I have never owned a Mazda and or a Rotary before, I wanted to stay to my plan and wait till next year just to be sure.
In terms of extra features, I really don't think we'll be getting those anytime soon. My guess is that the package would be identical to the 2004 model but the advantage is that all the minor bugs would have been resolved by then.

Only bug I found with the car so far was my right foot being throttle happy and I don't think Mazda's gonna fix that problem anytime soon :D
blizz81 07-28-2003, 05:38 PM With my plans the earliest I could sell the Maxima and get a new car would be next summer. If the 8 fares well over the first year it'll probably be on the top of my list.
Dunno why people are complaining about MSRP, crap...I was lookin at $28k for my options. All in all, it seems that's a pretty good value for all the car you get. I'm just happy to hear one of the stealers around here isn't marking them up a bunch at the launch.
Im waiting till next summer, but only cause I cant afford it right now.
Im upside down on my current loan.
Im paying over my minimum, and refinaced to take advantage of the good interest rates and will be ready to buy next July!!!
Ill just have to envy everyone elses for now.
wizardrummer 07-29-2003, 04:51 AM I'm beginning to feel like it's going to be 2005 before I get my 2004.......
Dealership says this week.....MAYBE
Wizard
grogiefrog 07-29-2003, 08:12 AM I am waiting till the end of 2005, or early 2006. By then, I can add it as a weekend car. I drive to far to work each day, and the route that I drive is full of dump trucks hauling rock. Not a safe environment for such a sweet car...
