You have to reach up the tailpipe until you feel something slippery. :moon: Then check the dipstick. if the oil level is between the two marks, you good. If it is below the lower mark, add a quart (or liter)

EDIT I reread the post again. WTF are you asking?Guys, Im just wondering that do I have to check the engine oil "every 2000km" ??

Thanks

I said check every 2000km for the sake of saying it. You don't need to put oil everytime.

Only take you 5 min to check oil and admire the car - what is wrong with that

Doubt all that much would have been used Kall but it never hurts to check it after it has been driven/operated hard for an extended period.

Your dipstick is your gauges Kenny. There are, however, some gauges in the US that has marking to show how much oil to add from the mark to full.

Is there a phobia of getting your hand dirty? Even Kalli check her oil.
You are welcome to drive to a dealership at get their manager to check it for you :D:

As useless as the oil pressure gauge might appear to be, it can actually show oil level. On full it is 2 small slit to the right, if it even decrease by 1 or half a slit it requires refill.

theres more to cars than driving them.

unfortunately you will have to "remember" to check the oil level......
i left an oil rag in a corner of my engine bay, that allows me to check the oil quickly...

theres more to cars than driving them.
yeah... that stupid centre console have prevented many ppl from "doing" other stuff.... :spank:

ehhhh ehhhh ehhhhh....

I wish you can back your statment.

The oil pressure is first an on/off switch. It only shows 0 and 1, not 0.5 :(

Second, even I have real il pressure gauge (from Defi), there are too many variables to control the oil pressure. 1) Oil vascocity 2) Oil temp.

If you have access to RX-8 service manual, check the oil pressure check page. It says to check the oil at 3000 rpm with oil temp at 100 degree; and there is no step to ensure the oil level is at the F mark.

Hope this clear up a touch for you.

I am sure there is some advance dipstick out there attaching to a macroclip and will scream "add oil, add oil" when it is close to the L mark :D:

I checked mine recently for the first time since the last service. To my surprise the oil cap was missing.

It appears the apprentice who serviced my car neglected to re-fit it.

Car went back in today for new cap plus to have the oil dropped and replaced.

Asked them to look at the myriad of squeaks, creakes and rattles while it was there.

Make sure it is not drop in the engine and near the timing belt!

It doesn't appear much if any oil had splashed out which is amazing since its been 2000km since it was serviced.

Had to argue with them about changing the oil as they didn't want to cover it.
