Well, here in Rednecksburg... I mean Fredericksburg, we get things much slower than everywhere else, so I was surprised to see an RX8 at my dealer today. They've actually got two, one black and one red. The black one was sold, the red one in the showroom.
All I can say is, oh my God. The pictures of this car do not do it justice. The red paint is beautiful, and the lines of the car are amazing. I was extremely impressed with the amount of room in the back seats, and my wife, who has long legs, fit comfortably back there too.
The driving position feels spot on, and the pedals were positioned perfectly for heel-toe work. Shifter felt solid, clicked into each gear as selected.
The coachwork on the leather seats was also impressive. The seams all fit well, and the support was very good.
Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until August 7th to test-drive one, that's when they're getting an 8 allocated purely for test drives. I'll try to swing by again and take pictures (I was cursing myself for leaving the camera at home!!)
And on a closing note, I may have the wife leaning towards the 8 instead of the Mini Cooper S now. I like the Mini, but the 8 would be a much more practical (and fun) car for us I think.
