*venting* #@$#@ car wont start

I'm wwaaaaaaay out in the boonies, over at a friends house... Stupid 04 8 wont start. It's been sitting there for hours, no quick stop and go crap. Full tank of gas.

-Checked Battery Cables - Loosened, used sand paper, tightened
-Attempted the Mazda deflood technique in manual
-Attempted the deflood technique on http://www.finishlineperformance.com...4-05-1448b.pdf
-Removed fuel pump fuse, turned over some, then put back in

No matter what I do, she just cranks and cranks. The last step had the engine running barely for only a brief moment... then dead. Tons of black smoke came out the exhaust, and for about half an hour it continued to 'leak' out the tailpipes.

I dont have a spare battery, I dont have a battery charger... I'm so pissed. I shouldnt have to do this with an 04 model car. ******* rotary engines are pissing me off. Yes, this is my first bad experience... but when I want to get up and go, it's enough.

I dont want to call Mazda roadside, wait 2 hours for a truck, an hour for me to get to a dealership, for them to yank me around. I've never had good experiences with any dealership's repairs, I dont trust them one bit. None of 'em.

ARGH!

I want to light a match, and throw it down the throttle-body.

Think that'd fix my problem?

let the car sit for a bit, it could be ignition related!

Its not the battery, I've even 'jumped' it from 2 other cars. Verified proper terminals and connections.

I've even hooked up another battery. No workie.

How can you say that big black smoke out the back of my 'new' car is the result of a battery?

My apologies. Corrected:

I have not tried a new set of plugs.

Give me one good reason my Rx8 with 14k miles would need me to install new spark plugs? I thought they were supposed to last 100k or something, eh?

Flooding would be a good reason. You can at least take them out to check how fouled they are.

If you can't get your car started and you don't want to call the free roadside service, then I guess your car is gonna sit there for a while...

My car has done this twice now. The last time (last weekend) I had to crank that thing for almost 30 minutes. It would sputter and act like it was going to start and then nothing. I had to recharge the battery and go back 2 times. FINALLY it cranked and fired and smoked up my whole freaking cul-de-sac. It pisses me off that this car did this.

It was also after a 35 mile trip home from work. It runs ok now but dammit this shouldn't happen.

Well I'm of the opinion, based on my car, that a proper cooldown after a little spirited engine manipulation is almost as important as a proper warmup, prior to shutting her down. For easy starting later.
