I, for one, welcome all of the comparisons. Besides being thought provoking, it's all good stuff to keep in mind when trying to convince the dealer to NOT charge me more than MSRP. I wanted to puke when the Hyundai dealer tried to convince my wife and me that the Santa Fe was worth $50K! He kept comparing it to the Lexus and other luxury SUVs. What a gonk. FYI, we paid less than sticker.

I think that since the RX-8 is really in its own class, it's hard to make a direct comparison to anything.
Handling and power can be compared to the 350Z, 330i, G35, S2000, and the IS300.
Styling can be compared to the S2000, 350Z, and maybe the G35.
Price can be compared to the G35, 350Z, S2000, IS300.
Interior room can be compared to G35, IS300, 330i.
Build quality can be compared to the G35, 350Z, 330i..
And the list goes on. I want this car because:
It's rotary.
It's fast (250 is enough for me).
It's going to be a very nimble handler.
It's stylish.
And of course, it's at or below 30k.
Above 30k, there is just too much competition for the RX-8 to muscle in, and thus I would not be buying it and instead look at another car, perhaps the G35 as much as I don't like it. Either that or I'll wait another year until something ELSE is released.
I don't intend on spending more than 30k, and if Mazda keeps my car under that, I'll be a very happy camper, else Mazda won't get my business.
