NOT Whitten.... but they are the only ones fairly close to me so i'm forced into it. At least they provide a rental when needed.

Interesting. I work in Charlottesville, but I drove all the way to Richmond to buy my car at Whitten because they had a better deal. Flow was a joke. Of course, this was two years ago, but Whitten is a high volume dealer, and they normally will give you a better deal.

I take my car to Flow for service and they are ... uh ... mediocre at best. They have improved in the two years I've been going there, but they are still not that great. I can't comment on Whitten Bros. service dept.

Kinda off topic - ok, waaaaay off topic! I've done some basic searches and it seems like there's a very small 8 crowd runnin' in Charlottesville. Well, I may be moving down that way from Baltimore by the end of this month. Is there any kind of performance shops there? I'll probably have to travel quite a ways for a rotary specialist, but any recommendations to include the Richmond area would be appreciated. There, I DID manage to make my comment Richmond-related!

I'll stay in touch.

No rotary shops in Charlottesville that I'm aware of. Flow is the only Mazda dealer and they aren't the most knowledgeable in the world. I am aware of maybe two other RX-8's I've seen regularly in Charlottesville. There are two blue's besides mine that I see semi-regularly.

At other times, I've seen a titanium, a black, a white, and a nordic green, but only once for each.

thanks, loco. looks i may be the lone yellow down there. i'll contact the 7 crowd to find a reputable rotary tuner (with dyno).

one more question for everyone: does VA have an emissions test? running CELs due to the FI set-up will need to be worked around. thanks.

No, VA doesn't do emissions tests. The state check-up is just about everything else though. VA's not too rough on you when it comes to state inspections. If you can try and get yours to be due around christmas time because there are ALWAYS places that will do the inspection for free or half price by like giving them canned goods or something.

i've always used capitol (pearson) and have had no compliants. i too moved over to the south side of town and was tempted to take it to whitten. after reading snizzel's experience with whitten i opted to take it back to capitol when i flooded the car last week. glad i did they treated me right.
