My son shot and edited a cool video of our first drive in the twisties the day we bought the car (last thursday). If anyone's got an FTP site where we can upload I'd be happy. We had Nirvana playing while we drove, but for the video he dubbed "Runnin' Down a Dream" (Tom Petty.) If y'all like the video, he'll post more with the original Nirvana and our running commentary regarding speed vs rpm vs gear shifts. It was a great drive.

Yes!...

My FTP server has been open since the beginning of the board,,..

Host: ftp.fsck.co.uk
Username: rx8
Password mazda

You will need to upload to the directory "incoming" and feel free to look through the other stuff that's on there...

It's not a whole hell of a lot of bandwidth, only 1 megabit... but it should be reasonable.

How big is the file.

Thanks, Blue. We'll upload this weekend and look around while we're there. The file size is only a couple MB or so, medium resolution. I might try higher resolution if the filesize doesn't get too big. I appreciate the response.

Hi, danny. Thanx for pingin' on me; I know i'm deficient on getting my video posted. Hopefully it's worth the wait. In the meantime, we had our San Diego rally, five 8's on a roadtrip and we got some awesome video. I'll post that, too.

Had a problem, though, couldn't get into the FTP site. We got some kinda error message like couldn't login more than once or something even though we made only 1 login attempt. I'm an FTP novice, so are there any tips & tricks I need to know? I'm trying to do this direct from Internet Explorer using the host, username and p/w that BlueAdept provided. Am I on the right track?

The reason for this is restrictions I was forced to place on the ftp site, exactly because of software like "Internet Explorer"...

The problem is initially simple, I had to limit the number of people who could download at the same time... since I have limited bandwidth.... hence there are 4 "slots" on the ftp server where somone can connect.

Once I set that restriction up I got several complaints that no-one could connect, and it transpired that because some/most people "doubleclick" on a file on the server... but newer versions of MSIE only require a single click... these people hold 1 (somtimes 2) connection(s) open to maintain the MSIE directory, and also download the same file twice... concurrently... These people use up all 4 slots on the FTP server and never complete because they are downloading 2 or even 3 copies of files which are somtimes hundreds of megabytes..

So, having concluded that it really was only a few poorly written pieces of software which require multiple connections to an FTP server to achieve a file download I decided that I would simple limit the number of connections to 1 per visitor... so you cannot download more than 1 file at a time...

If the version of IE that you have is unable to handle this type of restriction, I can only suggest that you use another tool (perhaps the command line FTP client) to access the server.... Sorry for the trouble, but believe me, it's nothing compared to strugling to find why my connections are so slow, only to discover somone with 10 times more bandwidth than me who is downloading one of the ISO's 8 times.

Status update -- Several folks have been good enough to PM me and provide FTP addresses or allow me to email my files and they will post. However, for various reasons we've struck out on every count. Is it supposed to be this hard? Latest contender is sixspeed who has offered to post my vids. I'll send him the files shortly and we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Question: Does IE basically not support FTP, or not support it well (for uploading?) I suspect that's the problem and I'll need a proper FTP client. One more thing on the to-do list in a busy life. Now back to painting my fence.

Try WS_FTP Pro software. It's a great FTP program. You can download a free eval copy, that will enable you to transfer the file for now. If you like it, and want it permanently, buy it.

Are you behind a firewall? It might be blocking your file transfers to an FTP server. If you can't do a LIST command on the server, chances are that it might be blocked by the firewall.
