MS Gauge Pod Installed

Finally finished the install, some bits were a bugger, and half the dash / center console had to be removed, but worth it all for the end result.

A couple of very quick snaps taken on my phone on way home tonight. Will get some better ones soon.

The start up and switch off sequence is glorious!

Interesting that the oil coolers and big INGs grill do actually bring the tempertaure down when blasting along, takes oil down by 20C and water by 15C

sweet, but $$$ 1,300. You be better off getting a custom one. But very nice nonetheless but why gauges when you're not FI'ed?

Main reason to get was for oil temp, so I know when its safe to floor it!

Interesting to see the fluctuation in pressure too!

Many people who have NA Cars still have gauges.
Oil Pressure is always important. The gauge on your dash won't let you know its adjusting, until your motor is empty and dead.
Water Temp, and Oil Temp... same thing.

Your gauges look great, I have the Defi BF series on my car as well. With the MS Set do you still need the Defi Control Unit? I think its definetely worth the money. Being able to record, set warning levels, and to view peaks becomes very useful.

Yeah, you get the control unit with the set, the mk2 version. Had to fiddle with the pressure warning level, kept going off at traffic lights as the revs dipped slightly! Like the peak recording too. Very nice package

HEHE, i know what you mean. I was freaking out when i first drove with them in.

Did you install these yourself? Where are you running the oil pressure gauge too? I had to buy the greddy oil filter adapter so i could run the gauge into it.

The MS set comes with all the attachments needed to fit to the car, replacement section for the coolant tube which has the probe into the water flow. The oil pressure sensor fits into a new bolt that attachs just below the oil filter, simple off on replacement. Oil temp replaces the sump drain bolt in similar manner with sensor through the middle of it.

I installed the sensors and engine side stuff myself, but didn't fancy taking the whole interior out so got my bodyshop mate to do that side of it for me.

Oh ok... interesting.
Thanks for the info.

For $1300... 3 Defi BF Link Gauges, 1 Defi Control Unit, Replacement Radiator Hose, Oil Filter Adapter, and Gauge pod..... that is a GOOD DEAL!!!

Do the guages point one side or the other? Would this work for LHD?

I think so. If you take the top centre console piece out and have a look. There is a cut out outlined in the inner surface. And the picture does not seem to the pod facing the other way.

My Re Amemiya pod is facing the RHD driver - which is good for me

Looks like you did a terrific job with the install!
Send me some decent pictures gware@japanparts.com and I'll put them on our website and give you the credit for those, and you will find an RX-8 Hyper-Rev on it's way to you at no charge...

Let me know! And congrats again!!

Orbist, do you have any problems constantly hitting your link controller where you mounted it? I mounted mine directly below the steering column, so I wouldn't hit it with my knee.

Moostafa,

orbist is from the UK and I think he is driving a RHD RX-8. So I don't think the controller in the passenger side is of any problem

Yeah, passenger side - the Mrs does complain about it though

PS. Missed the question on last page - the dials are mounted pretty much straight on, so would work on LHD or RHD

I know it is the peak value

but what were you doing when this shot is taken (the peak value)
https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...chmentid=63051

Water temp is 102 were you racing

Hey I put my oil pres sensor at the sandwich, quite a distance above yours. So I get 505kPa max rather than 520 at WOT.

Interesting....
