Do the U.S. RX-8' s have the mount points on the hood and frame for the hood struts? This photo of a euro model has it. Is this standard for all Euro RX-8's?

My car has a bar that holds the hood up...

If the mount point holes exist on the hood and frame of the RX-8 then could we not purchase the struts from a Pep Boys and Mount them to the vehicle? When you get a chance, can someone check their hood to see if the mount points are there? Thanks.

My Jetta has the pneumatic struts. A 350Z doesn't have them. RX-8? no? Weird...

That's a good idea, GTA3VC. I hope someone posts the answer soon. I hate those bars you have to lift to hold the hood up. The RX-8's hood is very lightweight, and the struts would have no problem holding it up.

I think there an optional extra on euro spec cars.

I don't see anything like that on mine. I've got 4 small holes along each side edge, but they aren't in the right place to correspond to the pic. I think my holes may be for vent...they are about the size and shape of the hole you put the hood rod in.
