There was no spec sheet, but it feels the same as my note PC.
So, may be around 2kg.

Can you install it yourself, or does it require a body shop?

Did it come painted?

Thanks!

Yuhki-san,
thanks for the pics ! I definitely want that Euro Style spoiler too, it gives the car a lot of class.

The rear spoiler came with painted.

I think the PN will be different depending on the colour like some other optional parts.(Sorry, I can not write the red rear spoiler pn here to avoid troubles in Japan)

I will bring this spoiler to my dealership this weekend, they already promised me that they could install this spoiler with the same installation fee as the normal dealer option rear spoiler.(3500yen = about US$30)

On you site the price is listed at 6800 Y, or ~60USD.

It also states it will be much cheaper in the USA.

Under $60????

I have just changed the statement to "may be much cheaper".

I bought this part through other person who sells the Mazda export parts in Japan.
According to him, he could not buy the part in Japan so he imported this part.
So, this part was shipped from Japan and then shipped back to Japan. And, of course, some comissions have to be added in Japan and Europe(U.S.?)
So, if you live in outside of Japan, I think this part should be much cheaper.:)

Whats the difference between the Euro rear spoiler and... what-ever other spoilers are available?

Can someone explain and maybe even provide comparison pics?

Can someone explain and maybe even provide comparison pics? The 'other' spoiler is huge and ugly, the Euro spoiler is small and neat :)

While the former may be more useful.. I don't imagine many of us will ever make use of the 'downforce' it provides.

which "other"???? you mean the Genuine super uglo-wing?? that won't make downforce... the Genuine spoiler is pretty nice, with a third brake light incorperated...

if you mean the MazdaSpeed one, well, i wouldn't qualify it as either "huge" or "ugly" (but i'm sensitive to your tastes, worry not) but the downforce would be there for... track use??

Ah nice, the Euro spoiler adds a bit of flair/definition without too much of the "rice" effect. By the time I'm finally ready to buy an RX-8 this will probably/hopefully be a normal accessory.

i would suspect that it will be available from the aftermarket very soon, considering how much griping many of us on here have done about not being able to get it from the get go.;)

well done Yuhki,

you're certainly braver than i am, i wouldn't dare take an electric drill to my current car, never mind my 8 (assuming it ever arrives)

nice pics as always.

Sorry, can I be objective - but am I the only one that thinks this
spoiler is well, pointless

Functionally it doesn't do a great amount

Looks wise > it really doesn't make the car look better
if anything it makes it look pretencious and dull >more like a Ford Puma from the back - Yueck

Not everything about the RX8 is great - and I would say this is
one of the less appealing aspects of it

I've been given an options list from my Mazda dealer - I shudder to think what the total bill will come to if you buy the lot - I like the idea of making your car a little bit different from other ones - with the options and all - but I can't help thinking why some of the add-ons shouldn't be part of the standard model anyway - I reckon I'll hold off for a bit until the price comes down - don't want to get stung even more - us brits always get a raw deal when it comes to buying new cars

I love the spoiler on the X-Men RX8 - that's what made me fall
in love with the car initially

If I'm gonna get a spoiler for my RX8 I'm gonna get that one
(If it ever arrives in the UK that is!)

Anyone know if veilside are doing something for the RX8?

(I can't say i'm overimpressed with the torque - but you can't have it all - especially not at the price range its pitched at > The Audi TT interior in my opinion is one
the best - The RX8 interior in parts looks a bit messy with the blend of different materials - I've gone for a Black and Red leather interior > they could have had leather all round the seats - instead they've stuck some horrible plastic at the side and back - bummer)

you may not be the only one, but you're wrong anyway. there is a reason that ever Euro spec car is outfitted with one from the factory, and that is to improve the mpg and emissions of the car. yes, it does drop the Cd by 0.01. it's a functional spoiler.

...you say that you don't like the looks of the RX-8 as is, but inquire whether or not Veilside was going to make a monstrocity for it??
...it's obvious you're a man of very decerning taste.

correct 0.01 drop,

Wakeech, as you're obviously very well informed do you know how the optional arch spoiler effects the figures? (just curious, although I would imagine it would only serve to highlight grey imports in the UK)

Renoir

I've read your opinions on veil side Wakeech - so I won't bother
stoking the fire on the subject - suffice to say I don't think
they'll be sending you a XMAS card this year or any year for that matter - LOL

Got to say I've been checking out the MazdaSpeed kits
and they do a lot for the car in terms of looks

Dunno if they improve the aerodynamics though

Perhaps someone out there more knowledgeable than
myself on the subject could enlighten me

On Mazda's Japanese website I've totted up the bits for the
kit and it works out around £2,600 GBP - Now I know in the UK
we get a pretty shitty service when it comes to catering for
additions - unlike Japan - Looks like i'm gonna have to import
it myself, unless anyone knows a company that does
MazdaSpeed in the UK?

Is the lip spoiler available in the UK? I have a cousin over there and was thinking maybe she could pick one up and just ship it here to Cali... does anyone know if this could happen? also, does anybody have the part # for this item so that I can see if this coud work...
(I hope this is possible)

Damn........nobody knows where those of us in the US can get one of these spoilers? I WANT ONE!!!!

Anybody in Japan want to make some extra money and start buying these and selling them to the US folks for an escalated price?

claude4

I too would like this rear spoler.

I can just imagine the day this $50 peice of plastic becomes available to us in the U.S for about $500 or something like that.

Anyway, should someone make this happen at a reasonable price, count me in.
