My car is a salvage title, thus has no warranty. Does this mean I have to pay for all the recalls?

I believe recalls are federally mandated safety issues and therefore are free.

"Vehicles that are salvage or repaired using another vehicle can no longer be considered as being certified by the original manufacturer. In these cases the vehicles have undergone such extensive reconstruction that the structural integrity on which the original vehicle was certified may no longer exist. Such vehicles imported from Canada, are not eligible under the Canadian VSA eligibility numbers. This type of vehicle would have to be petitioned to establish that the vehicle is capable of being modified to comply with the FMVSS. If approved, any subsequent conformity packages submitted to NHTSA must present test data to support that the vehicle, as reconstructed, complies with all applicable FMVSS."

Got that from http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/.../MViinl16.html

You should check to see if your car even affected by the recalls. The lower ball joint one you can do yourself. Jack up the car or get a mirrow and a flashlight and check for "K4 <>1".

Mine was fully covered for the recall work: reconstructed PA title, formerly salvage CA title. (recovered theft). Its a good thing too because I think I was still on Pre-M flash. Car feel and idle is greatly improved, and much less soot on tailpipes now, plus the needle sweeps when I do the brake tap clear.
