This is wife of msydd - yes I can't believe I'm doing this either! Let's get to the nitty gritty. How much are people paying for their cars? I noticed that people have insurance quotes for $68,000 - is this the price you're paying on road for the car? For those getting the super duper manual car, what are you paying on road?

Leather pack manual RX-8 = $68,000 total cost. Insurance cost is $1641 for postcode 3031 from AAMI. I've already paid for the insurance (to start on delivery date, 28/7).

I'm $1,000 above that... looking at the quote I am getting charged $2500 in "dealer delivery"... is this a rip off or is it a Sydney thing?

my delivery is $1890.

who knows how they work out all those on road costs.

ONe of the differences could be the stamp duty between states. My stamp duty is $2,400. Maybe the stamp duty rate is lower in Vic.

Suppose it could also be rego ($205) and third party insurance ($357).

strange, my rego and 3rd party was around $520, stamp duty $3180.

Don't know how they did the sums.

OK, now I'm really confused... the difference must be in the base price... my quote has the base price for manual with leather - $55,975. Then add to this the charges above, and GST and Luxury car tax.

I think my dealer has the wrong base price ? Looks more like the auto ?

The non leather cars are right about $56k plus on roads, avoids LCT too, leather models are about $62.5k plus on roads.

My price, $68.1k for 6sp Leather

$67,550 on the road for me. Floor mats included. My dealer jack their price up to $68000 already, starting this week. I am lucky I guess. AMR motors at parramatta rd still selling their RX8 for $67,900 to everyone. They charge lower dealer delivery.
These are the prices I get by calling the dealers before I put my order.
RX8 leather pack manual
Trivett Classic $68500 with mats
AMR motors $67900 without mats
Eurocars Mazda $69000 without mats
John Newell Mazda $67550 with mats
Dealers outside Sydney pretty much around $68000.

Most of these prices still apply. Try to call them and get a quote if you want and show it to your dealer. Just went to AMR yesterday to have a look at the Titanium one, their price still $67900.

i suppose you can try www.carsales.com.au on new car section to ask for the best price :)

Stamp duty is cheapest in Queensland paying$65850 on road ,with window tinting ,floor mats .
insurance on rating 1 with racq $700 .PICKING MY BABY UP ON SATURDAY 26th of july car is ready now but i want it to be a family experience so will wait extra 3 days to pick it up.

LIghtining yellow 6speed manual leather pack , dealer promised that i can have all accessories at cost that i choose to order .

Mine is $67,500 including floor mat and tinted windows ( top tint - the silver tint with mirror effect ), also upgrade to premium plate for free + a rotary shape key ring
