hey guys and gals - just making you all aware that the RX7 folks are heading down to the Renaissance Festival this fall.

www.rennfest.com

the intended date is October 1, for the Oktoberfest celebration. good beer, good mead, and a giant turkey leg are just a couple of the highlights of the weekend.

if interested, feel free to let me know. it would be good to have a get-together outside of the Fuddrucker's parking lot.

well it closes at 7:30...or something close to that...so we'd be back in PLENTY of time if your appointment is that late.

I'm there - will bring some friends along too... hope to see you there - remember the rules, "no weapons, fake or real." (Only in the south can a quotation of such substance be made)

Guess it's like the theaters not letting you bring outside food and drink because when I was there on the opening weekend they were selling fake and real weapons.

they SELL but you can't bring any IN.

if you purchase, you absolutely cannot carry them around unprotected. i think the policy is they wrap it and hold it at the door for you. if they see you carrying ANY live steel they will eject you.

and yes, i have witnessed said ejection on more than one occasion. there's a good reason for this rule - they don't want anyone getting hurt.

true, but there's always the possibility of someone or a few people bringing large vehicles/minivans/station wagons along...

All hard cold steele and a lot harder to stick than I thought. Me thinks I would have died early in the middle ages. Note you do have to protect your head with a pretty stupid looking hat at the battle axe pit.

yes...the large amounts of wine, beer, and mead are part of the reason a LOT of people go this particular weekend.

if anyone plans on drinking, i'll be borrowing the parents' minivan...so if you live in the Baltimore area, and are fine with meeting near Timonium, i'll happily drive. i don't drink, but i certainly don't mind helping out those who intend to drink. all i ask is that you NOT vomit in the van - the parentals would be highly displeased.

at any rate - yes, there are large amounts of sharpnshineys to play with while at the Festival...so you can sate your need to play.
