Redshift 07-19-2003, 05:48 PM Depends what options are on it. But, as far as I know, everybody has paid MSRP for their car. I don't believe Canadian dealers are allowed to put a markup above MSRP like the American's.
Easiest answer to your question is www.mazda.ca and look at the price...
That being said, a GT w/moonroof (1 of only 2 options) is $40.995 at MSRP, so you seem to be in that ballpark.

Doctorr 07-19-2003, 05:58 PM Depends on what area you are in.....give us a clue and I am sure someone can steer you to a fair price, and don't believe they don't mark 'em up........

Redshift 07-19-2003, 06:01 PM To be honest, I don't like leather interiors. I was all set to get a GS (GT had nothing else that was worth the $3000 to me) but I HAD to have a moonroof, so jumped to the GT. Basically, it's a $4000 moonroof to me. :)
I think the GS is the best bang for the buck.
As for the 2-tone leather... well... IMO it looks good in pictures, but I really didn't care for it in person. The red inserts looked kinda cheap and there were already blacks stains on the read in the one I saw. (Mind you, this was an early production model back in March, so maybe it's better now.)
I guess you have the advantage of seeing it in person before ordering and making up your own mind.
wild-RX7 07-21-2003, 12:05 AM how much did you guys paid for your gt or gs??
thank you all :)
bgparsons3 07-21-2003, 06:36 AM Have to disagree with Redshift on the leather vs. cloth interior. The RX-8 is unique in it's combination of performance and practicality (not sacrificing one for the other is a tough design criteria). My wife and I have a baby on the way - the 4 doors let me get a babyseat in the back easily, and with the copious volume of fluids I've seen friends' kids produce, leather was an absolute must for me! I've also heard some US owners complain that the cloth on the back of the front seats is super flimsy and wears fast from knees in the backseat....
For the original thread - my ticket for GT before accessories is:
$39,945 + tax (MSRP+350 freight/DPI)

Redshift 07-21-2003, 07:52 AM Yeah, leather vs. cloth is kind of a holy war. :)
But, since I have no kids (and don't plan to), and don't let people eat or drink in my car, the cleanup properities of leather do nothing for me.
However, I do compete in Solo2, have done the odd track school (with my old SiR, and will the with RX-8) etc. so the better grip of cloth vs. the sliding around on leather appeals to me more.
Add the fact that I don't like the feel or smell of leather, plus it gets hot in the summer, and I'm pro-Cloth. But, I love a moonroof more then I hate leather, so I made the sacrifice. :)
Now, to get slightly back on topic, as above, I paid MSRP for a GT w/ moonroof ($40,595) + freight, PDI etc.
You really won't get much variance from that for a little while. No dealership is going to sell for anything other then MSRP.
Through work and agreement we have with Ford, I actually qualify for a special pricing based on Employee Pricing for Ford group vehicles, with 3 exceptions.
Those exceptions? All Aston Martins, F450 and above trucks, and the Mazda RX-8.
