Well, I have been impatiently waiting for my preorder for the last 5 months. I was supposed to be getting the "first" car coming to my dealership. Vin was a low 0683. I was thoroughly pissed to find out that other dealerships in the area were receiving non-preorder cars early this week and mine still had not arrived. I called my dealership this morning to find out where my car was and I find out that they had just received 2 RX-8's. Sure enough, they were not pre-orders! They skipped my car and got the next two higher VIN numbers allocated to this dealership.
The preorder system is total bull. I honestly think that Mazda is sending the non-presold cars to dealers first because of the limited space on the car haulers. The dealership still cannot give me a date when my car will arrive. (this is in northeast Ohio)
On a brighter note, I went to the dealership and checked out the two cars they had received. The one was exactly what I had ordered but in Velocity Red. I ended up swapping my Titanium and taking the red one home today. The red looks sweet in the sunlight. I hope I am not disappointed when I see the Titanium.
I'll consider this a lesson learned about the preorder system. It is just a scam to get orders placed before the cars are built. I feel for the poor souls on E-bay that paid 1000's over sticker for dealers #1 spots and they are still waiting with other cars sitting on the lot for sale.
