Am I imagining things, or does my A/C sometimes decide it wants to turn on? I haven't found anything in the manual, though it might be there. I'm thinking the computer looks at the outside temperature sensor and decides I would like to run the A/C. I'm pretty sure I'm not hitting the button my mistake. It seems to happen when I first turn the car on, or when I turn the fan from 0 to 1.

Can anybody confirm this for me? Is there a way to disable it? I almost never want the A/C on so it's annoying.

The A/C turns on automatically when the front defrost is on...but I doubt you'd be using that in the summer. ;)

Is your button lit up when you think the A/C is on? Or can you hear it? Why do you think that it's on?

Mine does that sometimes too. It was off when I turned off the car. But when I turn on the car again its on.

Yeah, the A/C light is on. I haven't experimented enough to find a pattern.

Ok that's just weird then...sounds like you have a problem.

also consider...according to the manual, when you have it set to just blow on your feet, the AC will turn on, despite the light. This is to prevent fogging in the case of a wet carpet or feet from rain, cause it will divert some airflow to the windshield. Otherwise, you may having autoclimate control, when setting the temp, I'm sure it just thinks to do whatever is necesary to get the temperature to the set preferance?

Hmm, I don't have autoclimate control. I will play around tonight to see if it depends on the last setting of which blowers are on.

As someone else mentioned, if any air is directed towards your feet, then the AC will turn on periodically. This happens to me.

Maybe they do...I get the same thing with the A/C coming on at startup sometimes. It would be nice to know just what the parameters are so I don't get this anymore...my mileage isn't all that great to begin with. :)

No, we don't get auto climate standard. I played around last night and could not get this to reproduce. Granted, I tried to do it while running, I'm not going to kep restarting the engine for this. I will wait for a hot day, since I suspect it has something to do with the exterior temp.

It's happened to me a few times.
Today after work, it was around 95 outside.
I was driving around with the sunroof open and the windows as well. (I spend all day in frigid A/C) While at a stoplight, I turned on the fan (not A/C) onto my feet to get some air movement down there. I didn't turn it off. After a while, I noticed my feet were actually getting COLD! So I quickly turned the fan onto the dashboard and sure enough, cold air was coming out. (No A/C light) I don't remember what happened after that, maybe it turned ambient temperature or I turned it off. (I hate dashboard air.)
I plan on running a test next time to just start out on the dashboard fan and see if it turns cool.
