View Full Version : Head count in the NW
CraziFuzzy 07-15-2003, 04:25 PM Well, I picked my car up late last night from University Mazda, and was wondering how many others in the NW have gotten their cars yet. I put about 100 miles on it last night, and i love it already (and I'm still being gentle!). So, let me know... how many NW'ers have gotten their cars???
Got mine yesterday.
Had to go down to the port with the dealer to pick it up. Apparently the cars are only being shipped out on the tail end of the trucks (last 3 positions) due to clearance issues. But if the dealer isn't getting a full delivery, they may not get their 8's until the truck is otherwise full.
But I got to unwrap my present at the port, and drove it myself from the port to the dealer for PDI. Then I finally got to take it home.
-ss
I'm still waiting. Dealer said the car has been released and should arrive in Kirkland on Monday. I've never wanted a weekend to end so fast in my life. Argghhhh!!!!!:(
akrx8 07-19-2003, 09:50 PM waiting, car at tacoma on 7/11/03.delivery date is aug week 1,must be a big job to install those rotary accents.:D edit,8/09/03 got my red gt with red/black interior.all i can say is woooo hoooo.the car is awsome.:D :D :D :D
gr8rx 07-21-2003, 02:13 AM got mine winning blue metalic 7/12
Icemastr 07-27-2003, 01:09 AM Didn't order one, hoping to buy one in a couple of months so I can pay all cash, the dealer probably won't even let me look at one since I am so young and I always get laughed at.
Primary 07-31-2003, 01:44 AM Got mine Friday, Red / Black & Red GT 6SP, paid sticker for dealer inventory at Royal Moore Mazda in Portland.
Anyone else with car in Bellevue/Redmond/Issaquah?
zoom44 08-01-2003, 08:51 PM GOT MINE!! thursday 7/31 @5pm! wooooo hooooooo!:D
Magnesium 08-01-2003, 09:40 PM Got mine July 24th. Traded up with dealer instead of waiting for my order. Same thing (almost) and same pricing.
Titanium GT w/ black-black. Ordered appearance aftermarket.
Emsdad 08-13-2003, 03:55 PM Got mine from University Mazda in Seattle on the 28th. Cancelled my order with Milam because they were lying to me about the VIN and delivery date.
Got my money back, and the dealer that was working with me doesn't work there anymore!
Time2Share 08-17-2003, 03:14 AM Bought mine off the showroom floor at University Mazda on 8/12/03. Triple Black with Grand Touring package and 6 disc changer. I put about 500 miles on it in the first four days and use it as my daily driver. I seem to be finding lots of excuses to go places!
steevo 08-27-2003, 05:12 PM Picked up my 8 yesterday. Love it. Love it, Love.Nothing about ths car is bad.
I have had the good fortune of driving/having BMW M5/M3, looking at buying new S4 and frankly the 8 is hard to beat. Others may be alittle faster, but as a non prof. driver the few tenths of a second difference mean nothing to me. I was beaten of the line by a guy who rallied his VR6 when I was in an M3, it wasn't until the first "s" bends that I left him standing. He was just a better driver. You will not have that problem with this car, its handling is Porsche like.
I would love to hear from anyone else in the Northwest 8 Forum about their experience to date with the car.
I certainly will be looking at any potential upgrade to the car, but not because I think its "weak" but just because it can be done. K&N air filter sounds interesting at 16hp more, but I think a remapping may be all I ever do.
Having some fun with it now though
Add a RX-8 to the Tri-city area. Are there any other RX-8 owners,on this forum, from the Tri- cities?
gr8rx 09-15-2003, 07:30 PM Im from the tri cities area, had mine since july its metallic winning blue
AvitalBlue8 09-18-2003, 10:42 PM From Vegas got mine on 9/17/03 drove it from Lancaster, CA to Vegas where i live has 340 miles on it. Car is in the sig, never have i driven a car this much fun to drive!
cliffjo 10-08-2003, 01:18 AM Had mine shipped in a box from Casecase Autocenter in Wenatchee.. Black with Black/Red interior..
Live in Brier, work in Seattle...
MPG is a little better. ;) than my Shelby SP260..
Kamala 10-08-2003, 07:20 PM I can't wait till I move back out to Seattle in summer '04. I'd like to think I'd get off the plane, take a cab to the nearest dealership and drive off in my 8, but I'm most probably going to have to wait a few months to get my post law-school finances in order. See y'all on I-5 in a few months!
maddox2351 11-10-2003, 10:23 PM After about 6 months of looking for a sports car and test driving many, s2000, 350z, bmw-z4 etc....I saw the zoom zoom comercial on tv with the 8 in it. I did not know that this car existed until that night I saw it on tv. I test drove it the next day and was impressed to say the least. I bought my velocity red 8 the next day. That was two weeks ago and I have logged 987 miles already. Driving this car as you know is addictive. I will find any excuse to take it out for a drive. Anyways, very happy with this car and live in Oregon near Portland. Haven't seen anyone else with this car in the area, but I will keep my eyes peeled for you.
mngpao 11-10-2003, 10:28 PM I got my Winning Blue AT in August. It just turned 2k miles. Driving down Division in Spokane causes many heads to turn and a bunch of "thumbs up". Needless to say - I love it.
I picked up my Nordic Green '8 at the end of September (see my signature) from University Mazda in Seattle. Just over 900 miles on it so far and every one of them a total blast!
Mileage so far:
18: babying it from the dealer, mostly highway
20: I5 Seattle to Portland in the rain
15: lots of short trips and several 9,000rpm excursions
I had to take my car in today to get the clutch pressure plate bolts torqued (the clutch was getting snatchy in stop-go traffic). Looks like that fixed it, the clutch action is much better now. Other than that no surprises.
I've not seen anyone else in the Seattle area, except their cars when they're in the umazda shop ;) I'm mostly driving on the Kitsap side tho'. I saw a black 8 down in Portland with temp plates on it, but dispite doing a warp-speed to cruise speed pull alongside I couldn't get the driver's attention (funny that, when I drive the Miata some Miata drivers wave and smile and others just ignore you). So, I went back to baiting a G35 I'd followed all the way down from Seattle. Much fun!
Hope to see you out there sometime!
Rex - that may have been me... I picked up my Brilliant Black 8 just last Thursday (11/6) and have been happy as a lark ever since!! I'll keep my eyes open and should I see you (or another 8), since we can't do the Miata "wave" with our headlights, I'll wave at you with my wipers!
Hi Qhris, congrats on your new RX-8!
It wasn't you I zoomed by because I was driving round Portland at the beginning of October on my way to Hillsboro to get a ClearBra installed. So, there's another Brilliant Black RX-8 in your neck of the woods!
Hope to see you on the NW roads some time!
Bought mine on October 19th: Tit Grey with black leather int. and every option. Us locals should go rally sometime :)
ultrafit1 11-19-2003, 05:31 PM ZOOM ZOOM in Spokane any others in area???
maddox2351 11-19-2003, 10:06 PM Hello all,
I would like to get together with a few of you and go for a drive in this nice Oregon weather some time soon. I live 30 minutes from Portland. I think it would be cool to get together, chat and drive a few of these beautiful cars down the road in succession.
Also, I saw my first 8 in Sherwood last week. Hmmmm, I wonder. Anyways, let me know.
masteryang 12-04-2003, 01:54 AM Hi everyone, let me introduce myself, I'm a member from mazda6club.com, and I own a mazda6s, I was surprise to see many RX8 owners from Oregon and some from Vancouver, WA, so I decided to migrate myself to here, and join with you guys. hopefully we can meet up and have a rally some day. =) I have some picture of my car in cardomain site, feel free to check it out
http://www.cardomain.com/id/masteryang
neocln 12-15-2003, 08:51 PM I got mine about a month ago in November.
and now I have about 1200 miles on it. I love it love it love it!!!!
it is really AWESOME car. Mine is velocity red. and I'm from Lynnwood WA.
galleychief 12-17-2003, 07:30 PM Had Parr Mazda bring it over from Eastern WA.
Sunlight Silver, GT Package. Love the car!
zoom44 12-17-2003, 09:22 PM congrats chief!
93rdcurrent 12-18-2003, 10:00 PM Spokane, WA. Picked it up on 10/20 and suprised to see 2 other owners in the same area since I haven't seen them driving around. We should definately find some to time to chat about our cars... I thought I was the only one.
amysmojo 12-19-2003, 01:15 PM Its GREAT to find NW Rx-8 fans out there! I want to get mine sooooo bad! I am having trouble getting a loan though since I am only 21. I have 2 jobs & no bills so I dunno what the problem is?? I was wondering if any of you have leased your Rx-8 instead of buying it. Or is leasing a bad bad idea? Anyone looking into maybe selling their Winning Blue Rx-8? I thought I wanted the titanium grey till I test drove the blue one.....oooh baby =)
pp13bnos 12-20-2003, 11:22 AM I loved the blue one too. But ended up with the Red one, because I did'nt want leather. :( O-well, I've grown very fond of the red. CJ
arobel 12-29-2003, 10:51 PM My wife and I got ours day before Thanksgiving.
Titanium Silver Metallic
Sport pakage, 6 disc, and of course splash guards!!:D
Congratulations, arobel! Nice color choice too - post some pictures when you get the chance!
Congrats and welcome! Titanium is a great color! What about the interior? Show us when you can!
arobel 12-30-2003, 10:10 PM Thanks.
I haven't even taken any pictures yet. I will definitly post when I have some.
I have the cloth seats, gray/black.
I was a little apprehensive about the color because of how gray and dark it is here all the time. But I think it's the best color. Titanium silver makes the 8 look more elegant and expensive.
I would like to take off all the badging but I don't want to spend the 500 dollars to have the holes filled and repainted.
GeorgeH 01-06-2004, 12:15 AM Another PDX resident here. Ti 6 spd, Sport package. Paid dealer invoice at Royal Moore Mazda.
Guess I can get my deposit on the Elise back now...
George
OK, you know who you are, Bainbridge Island inhabitant, Titanium RX-8 with a roof rack? Stand up and be counted!
I saw your car and nearly drive off the road. Well I would have if I'd actually been driving at the time ;)
pp13bnos 01-16-2004, 08:49 PM Theres a Red 8 in Newberg I allways see. Theres also a silver one in Carlton....any of you guys on the board?? Heelllloooo???
BTW: You Portland are 8s should show up to some of the RPNW meetings sometime. CJ
RPNW meetings are on Thursdays? Refresh my memory...
pp13bnos 01-16-2004, 08:57 PM I spam the board so much with RPNW propaganda, I created a doc. so I could copy and paste, whenever I needed to. :D (Evil laugh.)
We're meeting at Roundtable Pizza off of Barber Blvd, on the very first Wensday of the month, at 7pm. 10070 S.W. Barbur Street, Portland is the adress.
CJ
Mucho Gracias! I don't know how I could have missed it! I WILL make it one of these days...
maddox2351 01-17-2004, 07:49 PM hey there pp13bnos,

That was me! I was wondering if you were on these boards. Your red 8 was only the 3rd 8 I have seen in Oregon thus far. I am looking forward to going to that RX8 club meeting they have on the first Wed of ever month. It would be great to meet you and Cj.

maddox2351 01-18-2004, 10:51 PM Cool! My first waving drive by with another 8! And even on these boards! That blue is very nice. When I bought mine, the blue wasn't on the lot. Very nice!
How long have you been an owner? I bought mine October 29, 2003.
I was planning on attending the last rotary meeting at the pizza place up on barbur, but weather did not cooperate. I'm going to be out of town for the next one, but plan on going to the first one I can go to.
I'm sure I might see you around again. I drive thru Sherwood a couple times a week. See you out there!
mqandil 01-19-2004, 12:59 AM I got mine on Nov 13th. 3000 miles so far. I live in vancouver, wa , and work in Portland. It may be a good idea to plan a get togther in the Portland area. Please let me know if you are interested.
Mark
maddox2351 01-19-2004, 01:32 AM I would love to get about five 8's (including mine of course) on the same road. I am game. I picture a sunny day and a few beautiful cars rolling down the road. (we should have at least one sunny day coming soon I hope!) I typically have Sundays and Mondays off. I will be out of town for most of the last week of Jan. and the first week of Feb. Going on two ski trips. Anyways, I would love to get together with all of you and take a cruise.
Lovin this car and the MPG.
Ioman 01-19-2004, 01:35 AM Me too, It would be cool to meet you guys. I am addicted to my 8 and cat stop driving it!!
e46328 01-19-2004, 04:47 PM Just picked up my 6sp GT. black, black/red int. w/ navi last saturday!!!
I traded in my 00 328I since it is out of warranty now :(
I only put a few hundred. Can't wait 'til I break her in.
Blue87Sport 01-19-2004, 07:25 PM Congrats, e46328. Enjoy your car.
Which dealer did you get it from and what kind of deal did you get?
e46328 01-19-2004, 08:02 PM I got it from University Mazda, Lee Johnson offered me the car that I wanted at invoice but they didn't offer me enough on my trade in so I decided to go w/ U-mazda for better out-the-door cost.
The price I got from U-Mazda is about 300 above invoice.
93rdcurrent 01-21-2004, 03:18 PM Ahh... A fellow bimmer fan turned to the RX-8. I traded in my M3. Let me know how much you are enjoying your new car.
e46328 01-21-2004, 09:24 PM Hello 93rdcurrent
M3's are nice, I wish I can get an E46 M3 but they are little too expensive for me.
I am driving my 8 easy since it's not broken in but I like it so far, it's pretty comfortable and easy to drive. Can't wait 'til I put on a couple of thousand miles so I can really 'drive':)
pp13bnos 01-21-2004, 09:30 PM This car just amazes me more and more every time I drive it. I mean, the car just craves corners! Its just such a nice car to play with. CJ
I too, think a meeting of the PDX RXs would be great! Perhaps we can all post proposed run routes here and get some momentum going...
OK, if you're looking for a nice road to enjoy the handling of your RX-8 here's a recommendation given to me by the guy who installed the Clear Bra on my car.
West of Portland on route 26 at Staleys Junction, WA take route 47 north towards Vernonia. The road starts out relatively straight but turns into a wonderful sequence of corners as it winds up and down some hills. About 20 or so miles into it, turn right on Apiary Road towards Apiary (of course!). you'll eventually intersect with route 30. This is a great road for exploring your car's handling, especially if you swap out your sway bars and really want to compare before and after performance.
This route is used as by logging trucks so you'll want to get past trucks whenever you can. Those twisties are awfully hard to safely overtake on. I hit 112mph overtaking one. The twisties are hard for cops to patrol, but watch your speed on the straights.
The first time I drove this route I was grinning so hard my face hurt!
zoom44 01-22-2004, 05:10 PM anyone here driving the black8 i saw in beaverton yesterday? on canyon road headed east but in the turning lane just before les schwab. i was going there to get my tires siped.
pp13bnos 01-22-2004, 10:37 PM If it was a black one with no rear wing, and Racing hart c2s on it, lowerd, it was a guy named Randall. He's in RPNW if you would like to meet him. CJ
Blue87Sport 01-29-2004, 03:14 PM Hey, you Oregon guys are starting to dominate this thread. Time to balance it out. :)
I picked up my Titanium Gray Touring model last night from University Mazda. I got an excellent deal on an awesome car.
So if you see a Gray RX-8 around southeast Seattle driven by a guy with an idiotic ear to ear grin, be sure to wave.:D
PP13BNOS, I wondered if you meant the car "carves" corners. I think you are right either way.
93rdcurrent 01-29-2004, 03:54 PM Blue87Sport,
Imagine how I feel. There are only a few of us over here on the Eastside that I have been able to figure out. So all you Westerners outnumber us by quite a bit. Other than myself there is one more person with a red RX-8 in the Couer d' Alene area that my wife has seen. I still have yet to run accross another owner in their car besides the one time I saw a dealer car out in downtown Spokane at night a couple of months ago. Maybe springtime will change that :) .
Oh yeah and congratulations.
pp13bnos 01-29-2004, 10:16 PM I'll be the first to admit I don't know how to spell. :D I meant, it just craves the corners. It wants them, it needs them, and loves them. Ok....I'm done now.
But it does carve them too. CJ
fxdsconv2000 01-29-2004, 10:25 PM There is at least 3 RX8's in the Boise area. I've seen one driving around (before I got mine) and one parked in a driveway.
Welcome Blue87Sport! It'd be fun to see another '8 in the Seattle area. I've only see two others, a Ti and a Red. I look forward to trading grins :)
I got my Nordic Green at U. Mazda too. They were very easy to deal with, no sales tricks and they're still keen to help after the sale.
Blue87Sport 01-30-2004, 03:14 PM Thanks for the welcome. It's great to be driving an 8.
I've not seen a Green 8 on the road yet. I'll keep my eyes open for you (if I can get them off the tach!)
PP13NOS, I know exactly what you mean. I plan on feeding my 8 its Daily Minimum Requirement of curves. Got to keep it happy. Its definately keeping me happy.
rex's co-pilot spotted a Titanium RX-8 stuck in traffic on route 202 near Redmond, WA. I was going in the opposite direction and only caught a glimpse otherwise I would have rolled my window down for a chat and stopped traffic in the other direction ;)
Anyone here have that Ti combo?
Later in Redmond a couple of girls were checking out my car. Turns out they were oggling my fender strakes. Well, those strakes are better looking than me! Ha, ha!
Rex to co-pilot: guess how fast we're going
co-pilot: Oh, 75 I guess
rex: Nope, 106. Ahhhh...I love interstates!
meladdin 02-10-2004, 09:01 AM I'm a lurker, but finally decided to represent.
Velocity Red, GT package with Borla exhaust. Purchased on August 6, 2003 from Royal Moore Mazda in Hillsboro.
Whenever I see another 8 I always give props. So if you see a Red 8 tap-high beaming you from the back or flashing the hazards from the front or sometimes a firendly rev from the borla...thats me!
Meladdin - Welcome and hello. Your Red 8 wouldn't happen to be parked in Sullivan's Gulch would it? There a Red 8 that I see almost daily there. I'm crusing PDX in a Black GT.

Nope, I mainly cruise Hillsboro/Beaverton Area. Where's Sullivans gulch?
BTW, a silver 8 creeped up behind me on the 26 the other day. I flashed my hazards, he gave me a quick high beam and wave. It was kinda cool.
Thanks for the welcome.
Sullinvan's Gulch is in the vicinity of the Lloyd Mall, near 21st & Multnomah. And you say you saw a Silver 8... Coulda been Zoom44.
ultrafit1 02-11-2004, 11:04 PM Are there any 8's in the Spokane area???????
zoom44 02-11-2004, 11:21 PM that's so funny! sullivan's gulch! hahah i lived over there until november when i moved to tigard. they had just started putting up those "sullivan's gulch" signs. i had no idea anyone was using that name yet! and it wasn't me on 26. but i can be found most days around beaverton as i work there. so between beaverton and tigard is where to find me usually.
Okay Zoom now you know where to find me! :) I will be on the lookout for you this weekend - I have errands to run over by Washington Sq. Mall.
I have pondered the significance of your moniker "Zoom44" - would you care to share any insight as to the meaning? Just curious.
93rdcurrent 02-12-2004, 12:39 AM Ultrafit1,
I live in Spokane. I have a Ti Grey GT, Nav, and rear spoiler. Wave if you see me. I have felt like the only car in the area so far. I purchased mine on 10/20 and have only seen one 8 driving around the whole time and it had dealer plates. Anyway P/M me and we can chat. I am trying to get something going here in the area.

its a play on words- zoom filling in for "room" and 44 is "for four" so room for four people in the rx-8 turns into zoom44:D
it's also on my plates so when you do see a silver ,check the plates to know if its me or not!
Very clever. I like it! Thank you for letting us in on the meaning.
DViOuS 02-13-2004, 09:46 PM Is this any board member?:
a Blue RX8 on the I405-SR520 junction come flying by with a wave yesterday (2/12). I didnt catch the plates, but that was the 1st blue RX8 i've actually seen on the move... and prolly the 2nd blue RX8 i've seen outside the dealerships... damn, that metalic on the blue looks so nice in the sunlight, originally my 1st preference... and it was bloody clean as well!!!

Hey Meladdin that was me. You are the first RX8 I have seen on the road other than myself. Just picked up my car 3 weeks ago from Vancouver Mazda. Was considering the red one as well, so was happy to see yours on road. Hope to see you again

triumphrider 03-01-2004, 03:26 PM ...from the booming metropolis (ha!) of Rochester, WA.
Blue87Sport 03-01-2004, 04:34 PM Congrats and welcome, Triumphrider!
Bet you got the only 8 in Rochester so far. :D
What color and options?Post a picture!
Get out there and enjoy your car. From your user name it sounds like you ride a bike too. Must be a tough choice which vehicle to take when the weather's nice.
zoom44 03-01-2004, 09:13 PM welcome Triumphrider!
Welcome to the wonderful world of RX-8 ownership, Triumphrider :) It's good to have another convert, though I hope you kept your Triumph too!
triumphrider 03-01-2004, 09:19 PM I don't have any pics yet. It's red and pretty basic (6 speed, of course). It really is difficult to choose...bike or car...car or bike. I have an 01 Triumph Sprint ST (sport tourer - very competent in both regards).
triumphrider 03-01-2004, 09:26 PM I'm not a convert, Rex, as you may have figured out from my previous post. There's nothing like a motorcycle and a llllooooonnnngggg ride just like there's nothing like an RX8 and any ride at all. Vicki
Kathy Atkins 03-01-2004, 10:18 PM Hi just found you guys that to my best friend Judge Ito, Ordered my Red Rx8 Jan 28th,2003
Picked it up Sept 10th (Iwas out of town when she arrived. her nick name is Bella Rosa (beautiful Red in italian) Plate is *** RRR, As in Tim Allen's RRR
Guess that's for hubby's wheelie popping Rotary Lawnmower..
93rdcurrent 03-02-2004, 03:46 AM Congrats Kathy and welcome to our mostly humble forum. We look forward to hearing from you.

We are putting together a drive and food thing for April 18th. If your interested see the "First Beautiful Weather" thread in the NW forum. And welcome. What color did you get and what options?
wndotinter 03-11-2004, 05:31 PM Cool.....I'll be there. Sunlight Silver, 6 speed. Base model. Didn't care to spend the extra for appearance because that's one thing we do here at our shop, body kits, etc. Also didn't worry about stereo upgrades because I've got about $3000 in equipment that I can install in it.
I'll check out the thread and be there for sure.
e46328 03-11-2004, 10:09 PM Any one here w/ Titanium Gray w/ appearance & Spoiler in Redmond Area?
I think I ran into you about 3 times this week. I was in my black 8. Your car looks awesome! Kinda makes me regret not getting the appearance package.
triumphrider 03-11-2004, 10:15 PM What weather! Yesterday I rode the motorcycle to Mount Rainier (where I am doing an internship). Today I took the red 8. Tomorrow??? Choices, choices.
Any comments from the Olympia Izzy's get-together?

pp13bnos 03-11-2004, 11:47 PM Although, I love driving my 8.....the FD still calls to me. Every sunny day without it....is like a month of rain with it. (I don't drive it in the rain. :) ) I just wish it was fully tuned, so I could drive it. :( Some day, it will travel the roads again....oh yes....it will. CJ
radcttek 03-15-2004, 10:47 PM I just recieved my yellow 8 a week ago, and am enjoying the thrill of it. Not too many 8's yet in the Salem area, and enjoy watching heads turn from everyone around me. If there is an organized group in the Salem/Portland area, I'd be interested in knowing as I love cruising.

Congrats and welcome! I know what you mean about the 8 being a head turner. :D Get used to it! As to organized groups, I am aware of but have yet to attend a meeting of RPNW. According to pp13bnos, they meet "at Roundtable Pizza off of Barber Blvd, on the very first Wednesday of the month, at 7pm. If you need directions feel free to ask."
pp13bnos 03-16-2004, 11:37 PM Yeap, Roundtable Pizza is the place. Lately we've had around 3-5 Rx-8s per get togethers. But most importantly, a group of very cool and friendly fellow rotor heads getting together. CJ

Ah, I may have seen you two weeks ago or so. I was on my way to the Casino one Saturday, and I saw a completely loaded yellow '8 - GT, appearance package, sun roof open, etc. Wasn't in my '8, though.
Blue87Sport 03-19-2004, 03:16 PM Congrats on the car, 6mm.
Does that make it a Midnight Sunlight Silver? :)
I suppose it will be a midnight sunlight silver
better pics coming, but here it is:

I picked up my Silver RX-8 on 2/22/2k4 . And I still have not seen any other 8's on the road ...yet!
zoom44 03-26-2004, 05:04 PM keep your eyes open then! my wife's best freind also is a silver in vancouver!
another8owner 04-07-2004, 02:19 AM my 8 is pretty recognizable in Salem. Thursday i am putting in my new seats, Recaro SRD's. Hopefully my new rotora brakes will show up by then too. After all my stuff is installed i plan to do the wednesday meet at the pizza place, until then though i am laying low.:D
dont hesi t8 04-09-2004, 08:14 PM Bought couple of montha back but diddn't post. I live in the Hillsboro area. I have seen only 2 8s on the road. Mine's black.
I just got my custom plates.
meladdin 04-10-2004, 02:49 PM I live in Hillsboro, too. I have a velocity red with custom plates and borla exhaust. I am always cruisin Evergreen Road. I will look out for you.
I just seen one in my neck of the woods. Do you live around Glencoe Rd or High School?
Also, I have been wondering if anyone on these boards work at Intel Ronler Acres Campus? I have seen a Blue and Titanium Gray in the mornings.
Magnesium 04-18-2004, 06:36 PM Another8owner. Did you go to the Phoenix Gold friends and family sale on 4/17?
I saw a RX-8 loaded with the aftermarket Mazdaspeed body parts.
I wasn't in my 8 when I went..
I'll be getting mine Saturday 4/24. Silver AT/GT, appearance pkgs, spoiler etc. It's being driven down from Seattle. I live in Lake Oswego and am constantly on 217 and all over Portland. I need to think about a cool custom plate. The first Wednesday's sound fun.
e46328 04-23-2004, 10:29 AM Yesterday, I went to Microsoft area to see Neocln (he is a member here too) so he can check out my Mazdaspeed suspension set-up and test-drive my "L¨ flashed car to see if he can feel the difference. What was exciting was that I ran into 3 other RX-8's within 30 minutes or so (not including Neoclnˇ¦s red 8). One of them was Nordic Green and we exchanged hand waves. It was so cool to run into so many 8's. I hope there will be an East side or greater Seattle area gathering soon :)
Krayzie8 04-23-2004, 10:55 AM i just got my 8 about 2 weeks ago. ive got 800 miles on it now.
its a M/t, light silver,red/black leather. no mods, loaded with all available packages....36msrp
I just bought a "slightly used" 8 in Renton, WA, with only 2,333 miles on it. I had to drive all the way from Eugene, OR, to get it. I've had it a week now and I can truthfully say, the drive was sooooooo worth it. I love this car!
Also, I really like this website. I learned so much about the car before I bought it so I knew exactly what I was getting.
If you're in Eugene and spot a Velocity Red 6MT GT, it'll probably be me as I've seen no others like it. If I spot you, I'll give you a double high beam blink.
Blue87Sport 05-04-2004, 12:28 AM Greetings Spok,
Did you get your 8 at Lithia in Renton? I saw a Red 8 on thier used car lot and did a double take. Very surprising to see a used 8 already. If so, I'm glad it found a good home.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your car like the rest of us here.
Live long and rotor!:)
93rdcurrent 05-04-2004, 03:09 AM Congrats Spok. The enjoyment only grows... :D
I'm still smiling after all this time,
Feeling like a little kid,
Watching the days go by,
I'm still smiling... (Elton John)
Thanks Blue87Sport and 93rdcurrent. Yes, the 8 I bought was the one at Lithia Hyundai. I did the "unthinkable" and arranged the purchase sight unseen. After all, how bad could it be after only 2,333 miles.
Well, the previous owner was not exactly what I would call "appreciative" of the 8. I think he even let people eat in it. Gasp! There is some very minor damage; just one little scratch on the front of the hood and some fine scratches that go down to the white primer. Otherwise, it's virtually new and I'm so very happy to have it; especially since I significantly less than what the dealer was asking.
Thanks again for your words of welcome.
Spok

I wonder if that was me in the Nordic Green!
I had similar experience but from inside a Nordic Green.
(Waves to all RX8 owners in NW area). Hope to see you guys on the road.

pp13bnos 05-27-2004, 09:01 PM My company works with Norpac Cannery, so I'm frequently there. To my suprise, the plant manager (The guy in charge of everything there.) at Brooks Oregon drove up in one yesterday! Silver 6spd, and and getting a rear wing. Sounds like he's in love with his car. :) CJ

sea-rx8 05-31-2004, 05:42 PM Hay pkwa
Was that girl in the pics at a studio opening this weekend (5-29)???
My buddy who is a photographer thinks he saw her chained up behind the bar there in the same white latex outfit (she was just over 6' and weighed about a buck 10) :)
Yes, that was her. That is my studio that the party was for. Who is your photographer buddy? there were a few of them there.
I took down a lot of the RX-8 pics with girls, because I got tired of the crap from the others here that act like they are 3 to 4 years old.
sea-rx8 06-03-2004, 01:09 PM hay pkwa....are you patrick......my buddy Tom Crann says HI!!!
Yes, I am Patrick. Some know me as Patrick Andraste
The Overman 06-06-2004, 03:49 AM RX-J is changing to "The Overman".
That's me still... And still in the Evergreen State ;)
dg-rx8 06-09-2004, 01:10 AM Hello, just recently found this forum and this thread and wanted to say hi to other NW RX owners. I am not typically in forums but am in the very early stages of modding the car (desperately want more torque) and was doing some research. Hoping to eventually add boost to it, but wary of killing the warranty.
I got my RX-8 @ Royal Moore in Hillsboro only a week after they showed up on the lot and I have loved it despite what I said above. This forum is great, I just wish I found it earlier. Anyway, cya around sometime.
ChadeF15 06-21-2004, 04:38 PM We live in Klamath Falls, OR and just picked up our Winning Blue beauty on June 20, 2004, which happens to be our 6th wedding aniversary. We got the car about 100 miles from home and took the twisty road home and loved every minute of it.
93rdcurrent 06-21-2004, 04:46 PM Congrats and welcome to the club. You will enjoy the knowledgeable group on here and hopefully you will find some good information.
zoom44 06-21-2004, 07:07 PM welcome dg-rx8 and and ChadeF15. enjoy the cars. :)

Welcome! Klamath Falls huh? I have a buddy who works at the Klamath Co-gen facility. I have been thinking about driving down that way later this summer. What was the twisty road you drove? I'd love to know!

I think we just missed each other. I was in All about eyes wearing a red nike shirt and Angels cap.
I like your custom plate!
Hi All,
Just want to give you guys a heads up that I'll be moving up to Beaverton, OR at the end of July. So starting in August, if you see a blue 8 around Beaverton, that just might be me!
Nemesis8 07-10-2004, 12:37 AM I don't think I posted here yet, but took delivery of my Titanium GT in Oct '03. I have pics on my website :D
LiveBlues 07-10-2004, 04:44 PM Hi everyone.
Sun Valley, ID here. I have also live in the Spokane, Seattle/Tacoma and Portland areas.
I haven't actually gotten my 8 yet. I'm hoping to get it on Tuesday. Velocity Red, GT package, appearance package, rear spoiler and the 6 disc changer. I am really excited! I've been driving "practical" cars most of my life.

I hope it comes through for you today. And anytime you find yourself over here in the Spokane area feel free to p/m me and we can get together for lunch and a drive. There are a few of us here and we have met a few times. A couple of guys from the West side of the state came over a couple of months back and we did a cruise around Coeur d' Alene Lake you can find the thread here in the NW section of the forum. Good luck today.
LiveBlues 07-14-2004, 12:49 AM Thanks. It looks like it is going to be Friday now. I'm a bit disappointed, but with my schedule this week, I don't have much time to dwell on it. If I make it to the Inland Empire, I will let you know. I look forward to meeting other owners. As far as I know, I will be the first 8 owner here in the valley. A road trip to Boise is just going to be a good excuse to drive. Where are the Boise owners? Or Idaho Falls? Or Twiin Falls?

Electron 08-13-2004, 01:17 AM Are clear sidemarker lights legal in WA? I am in Redmond. Looking for other RX-8 owners to go for some runs.
The answer is yes they are legal as long as they conform to the following requirements as stated in Title 46 of the Revised Code of Washington as it applies to Motor Vehicles:
----
RCW 46.37.100 (http://www.leg.wa.gov/RCW/index.cfm?fuseaction=section§ion=46.37.100)
Color of clearance lamps, side marker lamps, back-up lamps, and reflectors.
(1) Front clearance lamps and those marker lamps and reflectors mounted on the front or on the side near the front of a vehicle shall display or reflect an amber color.
----
The key phase being "display...an amber color". As long as the bulb glows amber you're OK. There are other laws about placement of the lamp and visibility from certain distances if your curious.
experimental 08-13-2004, 12:05 PM Hey Electron did I see you down by Marymoore last night?
I am up for a run in the NW sometime-
ps- I replaced a broken foglight at the same time a did the side markers.. Had to take the front bumper off, but it was pretty easy-
RX2-bruce 09-05-2004, 02:10 AM Damn you guys!!!!
I'll be picking up one about this time next year. My wife's "BIG" birthday is 9-11 next year, She may have a new GREEN RX-8 with a big bow on it waiting for her!
MELRX8 09-19-2004, 01:38 PM Port Angeles, Washington, I was born there. As you can see from the Avatar I'm driving a Lightning Yellow RX-8, 6spd. Sport Package, Rotory Accent Pakage, Rear Wing Spoiler, and Spare Tire Kit.
Have ordered the strakes, front air dam, and Dark Chrome Wheels from Rosenthal, my local dealer will install. Also have the Racing Beat drop in Air Filter (aFe) while the CAI is being developed by them.
Nemesis8 11-26-2004, 08:40 PM Just met a new Sunlight Silver owner at the Olympia Auto Mall Car Wash today! Told him about the club, and he had no idea there was such a thing... I wonder how we can get the word out to more people about the forum other than spotting them on the road and tracking them down.
I already forgot your name, but if you log on this forum let me know. We have a rotary meet every 2nd Tuesday at Izzy's Pizza.
jsh1120 11-29-2004, 09:09 AM Brought home "Roxy" on Saturday. She's an '04 GT MT in Nordic Green. Purchased from Lee Johnson in Kirkland with minimal haggling. (Purchased at invoice less $1500 rebate. Refused to pay the dealer's B&O tax.) Awaiting the currently on-hold "M Flash."
Having difficulty holding down the revs for the first 600-1000 miles, but otherwise enjoying a fantastic ride. Considering accessories. Waiting for a sunny day for photos.
Located in Sammamish. Would enjoy sharing perspectives over a beer.
Is it my imagination or are there more Nordic Green RX-8's in the Northwest than elsewhere?
Welcome jsh1120! Glad to hear there's another Nordic Green in the NW! Isn't it an awesome color? I think you might have a bit of a wait for a sunny day ;)
Tell me about the break in period! I hit 125mph "by mistake" overtaking a logging truck the first week, but I tried to keep the revs down for the remaining 1k miles. Racing Beat has some simple break in guidelines (http://www.racingbeat.com/FRmazda4.htm) which you might find helpful.
If your car is recent inventory you might already have the M flash installed, but its worth finding out for sure.
Emsdad 11-29-2004, 10:52 PM how do you break 125 on accident?
kristopher_d 11-29-2004, 11:27 PM jsh1120, I'll take you up on the beer idea. I'm in Redmond.
I've got a colleague in from Germany this week, so I'll have to find some time to take him out for a real ride. Earlier in the month he had one of our Project Managers out on the autobahn (sp?) at 200kph with the windows down and Strauss (hey, we're eclectic in biotech) blasting. Only problem, his car is an Opal.
jsh1120 12-12-2004, 07:31 PM ...between Issaquah and Redmond, Wa. With our lousy weather the last few weeks and the early darkness I haven't been able to tell if it's black or nordic green (like mine.) Anybody here?
124Spider 12-25-2004, 04:03 PM We just bought a new '04 for my wife. Very cool car!
zoom_zoom33 12-26-2004, 04:07 PM s2k~ what color??? and where u from?
124Spider 12-27-2004, 11:00 AM Yellow, black interior. Mrs. S2k thought it would be cool to have a yellow car to match my yellow S2000; it makes for a bright garage!
We are near Redmond.
zoom44 12-27-2004, 03:14 PM welcome aboard S2k:)
124Spider 12-29-2004, 12:29 AM Thanks! I'm looking forward to learning about this very comfortable and fun car. Although it's my wife's car, I get to take care of it, which means I drive it sometimes :) . I'm trying to talk her into taking a high perfromance driving school, not so she'll track the car, but just so she'll know its strengths and foibles. I can't drive it on the track, since I don't fit in it with my driving helmet :( , but that's ok, cuz I do fit in my S2000 with the helmet on :D She watched me drive on the track once, and was scared to death just watching, so we'll see about getting her on the track. Of course, she helicopter skis, which I consider much more dangerous than driving 130mph on a track :p .
Gladiatoiz 01-14-2005, 06:47 PM i live out in boring Oregon. got myself a red with red interior rx8 sept 2004 for $26,000.
13bpower 01-28-2005, 12:03 AM Well I don't have an 8 but if I ever did buy a new car that would be it. I've been seeing some nice FE's around Everett lately. I like them more every time I see one.
jisoo26 02-08-2005, 02:48 AM I'm planning on getting my 8 sometime this Summer (probably June or July). Want to get a good down payment in and plus, there'll be beautiful weather to cruise around in on the first day I get it! Hey Gladiatoiz, where did you get your 8 and what kinds of options does it have? I used to out in Troutdale near you but now I'm on the edge of Portland near Gresham =)

I have to limit the number of forums I look at. Haven't seen that one. I live in Portland. It sounds like there are a number of RX-8 owners who ride too.
I have several bikes.
Aprilia Falco - 1000 CC V-twin sport-tourer. Italian. Beautiful on the eyes and rides like a dream!
Kawasaki ZX6RR - 600cc inline four. This is my track whore. It is not even street legal.
Suzuki DR400 - 400 cc thumper. I fixed it up as a dual sport so I can go off and on road with it.
Bajaj Scooter - just cuz it is fun to park a scooter next to the harleys!
patrick_andraste 02-10-2005, 03:03 PM I have a Yamaha RD350, Yamaha TZ250, Ducati 998 and various assorted other stuff. seven bikes at last count.

leardriver 02-14-2005, 10:35 AM Vancouver, WA -
Finally did it! Just purchased my Titanium 04 MT GT this weekend. I LOVE THIS CAR!!!! This forum has been great for doing my homework before the sale. Thanks everyone!
Blue87Sport 02-14-2005, 05:26 PM Leardriver,
Welcome to the forum and the cult of the RX-8. A very tasteful color choice if you ask me. :)
Now that you've joined the cult, there are a few mandatory behaviour modifications you must make. You must drive the car at every opportunity. You must actively seek out the longest and twistiest way home. You must obsess over every detail of your car. From the tone of your post, your indoctrination is well under way.
zoom_zoom33 02-17-2005, 10:01 PM Finally broke down and got mine the day before Valentines day. I said on here that I would get on my birthday on May 25th just got a good deal on mine and couldn't pass it up! I'll submit photos later!
Emsdad 02-19-2005, 02:13 PM So did we convince you to get a 6speed? Or did you go with the auto? Congrats...I know it's hard to wait so long for something so great!
ACHYellowRX8 02-19-2005, 09:05 PM I forgot to post to this one after buying my RX8 in Sept. Better late than never. Really like that car. Especially as a substitute for my motorcycle. That is another long story.
Later
It is all about the driving.
zoom_zoom33 02-25-2005, 12:13 AM I was this <--> close to getting a 6 speed but test drove a Winning Blue AT with everything under the sun except for the NAV and a couple of extras...chrome wheels and tinted windows for a steal!!! it was the promo car for the manager of the lot. It only had 5075 miles on it. I will admit the AT sport tronic thingy is alot of fun to use but of course not as fun as the manual but hey I look at it this way...I still got one and you are right EMSDAD I couldn't wait =)
RX8PDX 03-07-2005, 01:04 PM Add another to the head count. I live in Hillsboro, OR.
But i dont ride a street bike. I have a dirt bike, but I KNOW I would kill myself on a street.
BTW, what kind of track events do we have at PIR?
When I had my Suby, I went to an awsome track event. 3 30min track sessions. It was unreal. I really wanna get this 8 on the track =) After break-in of course.
GeorgeH 03-07-2005, 01:25 PM PIR has lots of good track days. All the major clubs (Porsche, BMW, Audi, Alfa, Lots, Corvette) have track days, as do a few sports car clubs (Cascade, Team Continental).
I did a Cascade Sports Car Club track day last year and I highly reccomend them. Good instructors, good rules - faster drivers must be allowed to pass slower drivers, regardless of power, but only on the straights, etc. I had fun last year passing STIs in my Miata.

Biff Bimcheck 03-11-2005, 09:43 AM I picked mine up on 25Feb05. Almost reached the magic 600 mile mark.
Emsdad 03-11-2005, 11:51 AM Welcome....we need details...color, options, where you're at, etc.
Congrats on a great decision.
kristopher_d 03-11-2005, 07:13 PM Ending sentances with prepositions. :( I thought you were better than that. ;)
Welcome, BB, if you want to continue using this board, you have to come on a drive with us. j/k Go out this weekend and get passed the 600mi mark. Find an excuse, and then rev the hell out of her. She'll thank you for it.
RX8PDX 03-12-2005, 08:16 PM Just got 600 miles today. Though I will still be taking it a bit slow. I know I was spoiled with the AWD of the Suby I traded in.
kristopher_d 03-12-2005, 10:15 PM taking it a bit slow
That poor, unfortunate car. :D
Biff Bimcheck 03-20-2005, 11:56 PM E,
Thanks for the welcome! I bought one of the two Shinkas Milan Mazda had. I live in Pierce County. Looking forward to meeting up with folks to do some driving and learn more about the car.
RX8PDX 03-21-2005, 10:42 AM Well slow is relative =) My wife and her 10 yr old brother think I drive entirely too fast =)
Nemesis8 04-09-2005, 01:07 AM I waived down a Sunlight Silver today in Olympia - told her to come join us!
patrick_andraste 04-09-2005, 01:35 AM so, is there going to be another get-together soon?
Nemesis8 04-09-2005, 01:54 AM I recall the second Monday of each month the rotaries meet at Izzy's Pizza in Olympia at 7PM. I'll look and see if it is on...
traded my m6 in for my 2004 8 winning blue has all the extras except for the navigation..love it. How often do 8 members get together?
Nemesis8 05-15-2005, 12:06 PM Not enough... We need to set something up. The last time I went to Izzy's there was only one other 8 there. The 7's that showed were in all stages of rebuilding, so it was more of a meet for them to discuss what they needed to get their cars completed.
charleybull33 05-18-2005, 09:28 PM Being a new owner I'm extra alert for others, saw a black one on the 405 Nbound (Kirkland to Mill Creek). Waved to them, but their tint was too dark to tell whether they acknowledged positively or negatively :D
Just picked up my RX8 last week although I had been lurking around the forum for awhile. Sold my MBZ SLK230 to pick up more room for my 6 month old daughter. So far no regrets, this makes my fourth RX ('83 GSL, '83 Special Edition, '87 Turbo, and '93). Once I started the car I was hooked, I had not realized how much I missed these cars. I live in Portland and will be looking for you all around town.
-Cheers.

Hmm... that could've been me. I drive a black one w/ Tint (not that dark though ;) )and I have been going back and forth between Redmond and Mil Creek a lot. I am moving to Mil Creek next week BTW.
charleybull33 06-08-2005, 06:28 PM Welcome to the neighborhood, we'll have to see if there are any other of us in the locale.

Cool - watch out for a Sunlight Silver with plates that read "ZOOM44" crusing around Portland. He is very well known to many here. :D
zoom44 06-08-2005, 10:12 PM hello!!:D that'd be me! welcome aboard. you'll find me around tigard mostly right now and between there and Lake Oswego. where did you buy it?

e46328 06-09-2005, 12:01 PM Welcome to the neighborhood, we'll have to see if there are any other of us in the locale.
Yeah, I know one of my friends w/ Red 8 lives in Mil Creek too. :)
hello!!:D that'd be me! welcome aboard. you'll find me around tigard mostly right now and between there and Lake Oswego. where did you buy it?
-charlie
Hey Charlie, purchased mine at Murray Mazda of all places. I configured one online and they were the first to call. Overall a pretty painless experience.
I am generally driving between Happy Valley and NW Portland so I will keep an eye out.
-Aaron.
flemp176 06-20-2005, 10:16 PM I got mine @ Murray Mazda also. It will be a year in 6 days. Got an awesome deal through my uncle. Moved to Bend now though. Not many over here. Always see people staring...its great!
93rdcurrent 06-21-2005, 03:48 PM I will be going on 2 years of ownership on 10/20. I think Zoom has me beat by a few months... go zoom44!!! :D
zoom44 06-21-2005, 04:09 PM yep july 31st is 2 years
Emsdad 06-28-2005, 08:38 PM I got my first one on July 21st, 2003. So if I hadn't done the buy back, I'd have y'all beat! :)
Ducky 07-07-2005, 11:30 PM Hey Im Ducky,
I just picked up my 04 in Kirkland... total noob....
Anyways, im still figuring out what all this has because the dealer didnt know too much about its features...
I think it has HID, no power seats, no sunroof, a button im assuming for disabling traction control... no NAV.
Anyways I hope to see you all sometime or even talk to you....
My first impression... its just gorgeous... looking at the dash... im just in awe...
Pics soon!
blakew15 07-11-2005, 12:37 AM Picked up my 8 yesterday.
Having some fun with it now though
ive got the k&N typhoon. its a nice upgrade for the price. and the sound is perfect.
alphamfgmonkey 07-11-2005, 08:30 PM Hi,
Add me to the head count: Red MT, Grand Touring.. nothing else yet. I picked it up at U Mazda last week, they did well, I would recommend them. Still restraining myself through break-in.
Akisan2 07-11-2005, 11:53 PM I figure I should say hello to everyone.
I got my 04 BB base 6sp at HM in Beaverton last March...
I love this car....but it really is a driver's car. I spun out once  and I was lucky i didn't hit anything, except had few bad curb rash. Still learning the characteristics of this car...this also is my 1st RWD car so....
After while, I would like to try to autox, but not for a while.
I am ordering Greddy sp2 this week, and working my way to the veilside kit(the ver1 one...looks very subtle)
So glad to be here and be a part of the exclusive NW 8 owner's club! :D
BTW, come to Sushiland in Vancouver! lol
free advertizing.... :o
RXAnna 07-13-2005, 06:43 PM Hi, I just moved up here. I have a 2004 Sunlight Silver. I've noticed quite a few RX8s around here. :)
What part of Az are you from?
Nemesis8 07-13-2005, 11:32 PM Hi, I just moved up here. I have a 2004 Sunlight Silver. I've noticed quite a few RX8s around here. :)
How do you like the outside temperature? :D
Valander 08-09-2005, 07:28 PM Just picked up a 2004 Winning Blue with the Grand Touring package, and I'm completely in love with her. ;)
zoom_zoom33 08-09-2005, 10:10 PM Welcome to the winning blue club Valander! Where abouts are you located at? I have one over here in Olympia.
Valander 08-10-2005, 03:04 PM I'm in Seattle; the Eastlake neighborhood to be exact.
Welcome to the board!!
Enjoy your new 8.
Im on the Eastside as well.
cracka 08-14-2005, 06:43 PM I'm also new to the club around here, just picked up my 8 last thursday. Nordic Green with grand touring package, 6spd, and everything else i guess. So far I love everything about the car. Like some other people, I also moved up here from Chandler, AZ about a year ago...
Hey there-
New owner in Dupont. Look forward to seeing y'all on the road-
RX-8 8-XЯ 08-20-2005, 12:25 AM New user in DuPont as well... color jdog?
Titianium gray - no spoiler and no plates yet. What about you?
RX-8 8-XЯ 08-20-2005, 01:54 PM sunlight silver, spoiler, strakes (as soon as they arrive)... think I've seen you, got the strakes? (if not theres another Ti gray out here)
nope no strakes...must be another one!
dsmdriver 01-05-2006, 07:43 PM I Picked up a used 2004 Ti Grey GT / Spoiler from Doug's Mazda two weeks ago. Only had 5,000 miles on it! I live up in Lake Forest Park, WA just north of Seattle proper.
Moving "up" from a 1991 Eagle Talon TSi AWD with tons of mods and only 75K miles. Just gave that car to my younger brother.
Hoping to do some road courses in the RX8 as I'm a total handling snob. Last time I was at Pacific Raceways I left in an ambulance though when I departed the track on my motorcycle at a good rate of speed. I now have titanium in my wrist to match the color of my car  I'm going to stick with 4 wheels for a little while.
Hope to see some of you around!
patrick_andraste 01-06-2006, 02:19 AM Hello! I also live in Lake Forest Park. I have a black RX-8 with a mazdaspeed front on it.
AdamK 01-06-2006, 02:44 AM I'm in Bellevue. 2005 t-grey, GT package.
icyur2 02-07-2006, 04:59 PM Salem, OR...on July 2005, t-grey, GT package...
BTW, how many people in Oregon tried the Driver school at Portland International Raceway? I'm thinking of taking it..although..need to save first..anybody??
http://www.prodrive.net/
GeorgeH 02-07-2006, 05:15 PM There are several. I've done the Team Continental driver training (in my Miata) and it was excellent. Good ground school, and you had an instructor with you every time out, if you prefer (I went out alone in my last run). Best of all, they tell people to let faster drivers by (as opposed to faster cars). An STi had to let me pass on the front straight as I was outdriving him and he was holding me up in the corners. This is very important - some clubs emphasize horespower and in an RX-8 that's not good.
Also, check out autocross. There is a very active club in Eugene, and we have a good thing going with the Oregon Region SCCA solo II in Portland.
sojourner 02-22-2006, 10:28 PM New owner as of 2-18-06. '05 Shinka with everything, and loving life! This car is number 2 on my list of cars that I want(ed) to own. Number one is a '69 GT 40 Mk III (where did I put that $300k?) Needless to say , I am very happy.
Sivart_R1 03-09-2006, 11:15 PM New 8 owner as of today, been around the rotary world for a while now. Picked up an 04 WBM base 6mt today. 12000 miles, great shape inside, out, and mechanically.
Fits the rest of the garage well...

jisoo26 03-10-2006, 06:21 PM Just to add my name....new owner as of January 21st, 2005. New '05 6MT Ti Gray GT. Kicks ass! :)

TheBri 03-27-2006, 01:43 PM Hi! New member as of a while ago (been lurking). Finally bought my 8 last week!
I live in the Kirkland/Bothell area and have a 2005 Whitewater Pearl w/GT package. Factory spoiler and front/rear rotary accents are on order and should be installed by the dealer sometime late this week (part of my purchase agreement with them). I'm also waiting patiently for my clear corners and the Mazdaspeed carbon fiber interior bits (console, handle bezels, and door switch panel) to come in the mail!
Replacing the POS Bose audio system will be my next project.
Nemesis8 03-27-2006, 07:59 PM Congrats!
You right about the BOSE. I don't even turn my radio on anymore :)
zoom_zoom33 03-27-2006, 09:07 PM Can I ask why you guys don't like your Bose system? I like mine...
Nemesis8 03-27-2006, 09:21 PM Can't hear the engine rev for me :)
It's OK, for highway cruising, but in town I turn it off.
patrick_andraste 03-28-2006, 12:41 AM K&N and Racing Beat Exhaust will fix that. People can hear me coming up behind them.
I also removed the variable intake in front of the bulkhead and have duct work to feed fresh air up to the oval opening through the bulkhead.
I hear lots of engine noise.
TheBri 03-28-2006, 02:49 PM Can I ask why you guys don't like your Bose system? I like mine...
If you've ever had a high-end audio system in a vehicle, you'd hate the Bose system too. ;) :D For a factory audio system, it's better than most stock setups. For (supposedly) a high end option - it's crap. At the very least it desperately needs a sub of some sort to help it out in the low-end department. The overall clarity and sound characteristics when the system starts to get loud leaves a lot to be desired.
If the Bose system makes you happy, great! There's nothing wrong with that! I am just used to having a much better audio experience when driving.
Revlis 03-28-2006, 05:39 PM Can I ask why you guys don't like your Bose system? I like mine...
Pretty Sure it's like any other hobby. Some folks like to throw Thousands of Dollars into mobile Audio, some don't. Kinda like spending $3-4K into a motor to make an addition 20HP at 9000K RPM. Some folks think that is great, others think it's plain silly. Mostly though it's about what your into, if you just want some clean audio at reasonable levels, leave the Bose alone and maybe add a small 10" Iso Subwoofer. But if your Car Audio helps define who you are and it's what you do, then by all means start spending and customizing. :ylsuper:
I run into it all the time at the shop and on the Busa Boards. Folks will spend thousands for just a few more HP, or a cool Custom paint job, so they can:
A. Brag about the HP.
B. So they can Pose with their pretty Chrome creation.
C. Enjoy the Hobby and have fun tinkering with their machines.
Whatever the reason, there is always a cult of Audio Guys, Power Guys, Paint Guys. It's just what they are into. I've met a couple guys who just like to tinker. No matter what, they are never done messing around. Be it Audio, Power, or Looks they are allways tinkering.
For me, and it sounds like for you as well, the BOSE is just fine. I listen to the stereo when I am out commuting or on the highway, just puttering around, don't really need or want anything more. When in the mountains or wherever I find twisties I'm listening to the engine and the car itself so the stereo is off anyway. Besides, adding weight that doesn't do anything for performance is kinda going backwards in a Sports Car. :nono: Makes no sense, that's what Escalades and H2's are for. :mdrmed:
My .02 anyway.
One other thought though, BOSE does have a definite Idea about how music should sound, and if you do not like their "Vision" or "Formula" for how music should sound then it can leave ya kinda flat. In this case though, for I what I expect in my Audio in the car I am pretty happy. But I will prolly add a small Iso Sub if there is a simple way to wire it into the existing system.
Revlis 03-28-2006, 05:55 PM Oh and I picked up a 2005 TiGrey last week Sunday. From Doug's Lynnwood Mazda. Great folks BTW, no hassle, no pressure.
zoom_zoom33 03-28-2006, 06:58 PM I plan on getting a 10" kicker sub but haven't chosen an amp yet. Any suggestions??
FABRO 03-28-2006, 08:16 PM Just wanna say Hi, moved here a few days ago from San Diego, Cali...look for a BB with volks in the renton/kent area.
sharkman 03-28-2006, 08:25 PM Got my BB a month ago and loving it!
Revlis 03-28-2006, 08:43 PM I plan on getting a 10" kicker sub but haven't chosen an amp yet. Any suggestions??
Nothing, not a one. Not for the 8 yet, I just dunno, haven't thought about it. Find a good shop tell em' what your after and they should be able to hook you up, though I think there may be some difficulty with the BOSE stuff... There sometimes is.
zoom_zoom33 03-28-2006, 11:28 PM Well I was just lookin for suggestions on a good amp. Most places will try to sell me whatever and not really tell me which is a good one for the right money. It's not all that difficult to add a sub setup to your system just need a line output converter to connect to the factory radio and not have to splice into the current setup.
GeorgeH 03-29-2006, 11:10 AM I've always been able to find knowledgeable people at CarToys, although not everyone working there falls into that category.
JL Audio seems to be well respected. You might check the audio forum, I'm sure there will be some opinons there.
zoom_zoom33 03-29-2006, 12:06 PM thanks GeorgeH...I was thinkin that. Had Car Toys install all my stuff before so I trust them.
patrick_andraste 04-17-2006, 11:21 AM I bought springs and shocks for my RX-8 that have been sitting on the shelf for a year now. I figure if they are ever to get installed I need to farm out the work.
Who does anyone recommend for doing suspension work on your RX-8 here in the Pacific NW?
williamngRX8 04-20-2006, 11:10 PM count me in.
i will be moving up to Auburn next month. i own a white 8 built 06/05.
already saw another white parked not too far from my house :D:
