Shaved side marker idea, need opinions

I just ordered a replica front end for my car and was thinking, the only fitment issuses were around the side markers, so why not shave them. Now before you all start to flame me concerning safety issues and legal issues, hear me out.
The front bumper cover is not that hard to replace on our cars, so i could keep the one that i had shaved in the garage until i was ready to go to a car show and roll with the factory one on most of the time. I was planning on doing this anyways so i didnt risk hurting the aftermarket on or being backed into.

Just a thought, what do you all think. I think it would give the car a pretty clean look.

the main part of the poster has this as the picture:

go to www.dieselstation.com, they have a nice wallpaper section for the RX8, there's a yellow towards the bottom that has them shaved

try this

http://www.dieselstation.com/wallpapers/RX8/

# 19 and 20 have them shaved

hope that helps. (stupid red x's, hate those things)

Sounds like a lot of hassle to switch the whole bumper each time you go to a car show.
Why don't you fabricate caps that would fit in there and match your body color, or buy an extra pair of markers and paint them to match your car color.
All you would have to do is unscrew your markers and plug in your caps.

thats not a bad idea. i may try that first to see if the look is clean enough.

as far as the hassle of switching goes, ill be doing that anyway casue the roads around here suck and the drivers around here are worse. I just want to protect my investment the best i can. The only reason i am gettin it is for when i start going to show with the car.

Im going to pick up the front right now and run it by my house. My body man is going to swing by tonight and see if we can successfully shave them or if we should just get some clears for them. Ill let you know how it goes and take pics along the way.

Just shave them and don't worry about switching things out. It's perfectly legal to not have them on the car. I'm looking out my window from work right this second at the parking lot and count 8 out of 10 vehicles that have NO side markers at all from the manufacturer.

Go to our website and check out the project RX8. Our Tsunami kit has gotten rid of the sidemarkers so there is no need to have a body shop shave them.
