View Full Version : Setting Boost on E-01 w/ GReddy Turbo Kit help
For guys that have both the GReddy turbo kit (or MZM's homemade) and the E-01;
According to the E-01 my boost caps at 5 PSI and I have yet to see the 7 PSI lower RPM range cap. How do I properly adjust the e-01 to the supposed GReddy factory parameter? I read a thread in which MZM mentioned the set boost and start boost. In the set boost screen it looks something like this:
Boost Select Off
Auto/Manual Set Gain
LO Auto Off PSI ____
HI Auto Off PSI ____
Start Boost ______ PSI
How do I manipulate this correctly? From MZM's thread I saw something about a 40% gain and 6.8 in start boost. Any takers?
Horse 07-10-2005, 10:53 PM I have mine set at start boost 2.8, SET is 23 and GAIN is 23 in manual mode and this puts it fluxing between 7.0 and 7.2 psi.
Thanks for the reply. I'm just trying to make sense of it all. Here's another interesting question: how do you know your blow-off valve is malfunctioning. I think the boost is bleeding from it. It "feels" and sounds that way... hmm.

That's helpful info. I'm installing mine soon.
Does it hold at 7psi even in the high RPM's? Did you have to change the setting at different RPMs?

I do most of the e-01 tunning in 5th gear at WOT and the boost graph skies to 7.0 and stys level acroos the board all the way through. I do not use the rpm offset feature.
I've just found out that the e-01 has a learning process involved. This is the parameter that Benny from GReddy advised me to use:
I set the start boost at 4.8 PSI (you take 7.0 PSI subract it from 2.8PSI <some factor>). I set the boost at 7.0 PSI. The gain was set at 15%. After that was set, I had to find an expressway and launched the car at WOT at third gear until the AUTOP cycled through... and took the next exit and repeat the process one more time.
Also, anytime you feel like manipulating a program you're going to have to do the AUTO learn procedure.

.
This is if your using the AUTO mode right?
Also, how did you get 4.8PSI? (7.0-2.8= 4.2 not 4.8)

Sorry... typo. But you get the idea right?
Yeah... auto mode. I avoided the manual mode because I'm not too sure about the mathematics behind it. Anyone know the advantages and disadvantages of using auto mode vs manual mode?

so do we set it for 4.2 or 4.8?
Spyder_doo 07-15-2005, 03:54 PM Ok everyone I have the standard non-profec E-01 already. I was just wondering what I needed, if even possible, to be able to control boost with the unit? Can I just buy the parts that make this a profec? I have no idea what comes with the profec E-01 compared to the Standard E-01 but will these extra parts let me tune my boost levels?
Jamie
adrian-1 07-15-2005, 04:06 PM The non-Profec version is basically for loading/ changing maps (a support tool substitute.)
I believe the only extra parts you will need are the boost controller solenoid, solenoid cable, boost pressure harness.
Email the guy on this mohdparts.com website (http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/#Manuals) , he'll be able to help you.

Here's the page (http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/manuals/profec_e-01_manual/19.jpg) in the E-01 manual on setting up boost in auto mode.
I should receive my SD card back from Greddy soon and I'll set it up for constant 7psi.
so do we set it for 4.2 or 4.8?4.2 buddy
adrian-1 07-20-2005, 10:13 PM I got my SD card in yesterday and I hooked everything up. The boost, rpms, throttle were reading correctly.
I tried to do the auto boost to 7psi. Put in Auto, 7psi, 15 gain, and 4.2 start boost (see pic). The autoP came on and I did the procedure above. It wouldn't go past the flashing part after step 2. Just kept flashing after the 2nd WOT run.
v300, did you get the auto to work for you? And are those the numbers you entered? Did you do it in 3rd or 4th, I tried both and same result.
I know the boost controller is installed correctly because I tested in manual mode and I got it to increase alittle (6.5psi). I think since my boost isn't holding (slowly drops at higher rpms) the AUTO isn't able to do the learning procedure. It had a note at the bottom that it may not work on some cars if they can't hold boost.
I'll test further next week after my vacation. May just have to use manual mode.
Also, my map in the emanage somehow got corrupted. I imported the map to the e-01 and I was going thru some of the screens. Then when I went for a drive, the car would bogg down at 4 or 5k or whenever I tried to go into boost. Not knocking, just slowed down alot. Also, noticed that my idle was much, much better (like it was before the turbo). I got home and hooked up my laptop to check the map on the main unit. I told it to import the map and nothing came up. I exported a copy of the map from my laptop and everything was back to normal.
WantedTwo 07-24-2005, 08:27 AM hey where did you get that mount I have been looking everywhere for it!!
adrian-1 07-25-2005, 03:02 PM hey where did you get that mount I have been looking everywhere for it!!
Mount was $30 at this site. (http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpath=97&pageid=8703&processor=content&pcategoryid=13037&categoryid=13393&year=2004)

I got it to work in auto mode. What I did was find a straight road (hopefully no cops); shift to 3rd but at 3rd my tach was at 1900 rpm and go wide open throttle from there. After doing this a couple of times the flashing disappeared and everything was ok. I believe the flashing stopped around 6700rpm-ish.
Spyder_doo 09-09-2005, 01:02 AM I'm having the me problem with mine now. I cant get the autop to stop flashing even after I ran it down the interstate 5 or 6 times. What do I need to do? I'm just trying to run a solid 7 psi. I'd like to go even more but that'll do for now. Any ideas would be great.
Thanks,
Jamie
adrian-1 09-09-2005, 04:01 AM I tried more than 6 times to get the autoP light to stop blinking during setup and never figured it out.
I'm waiting for the interceptor X EMS and then I'll have it dynotuned and up the boost then.
(After getting the R flash, my AFR's have become excessively rich.)
Horse 09-09-2005, 03:32 PM do manual mode. Start 2.8 gain 23 set 23, is 7psi for me.
Somewhat off on the subject. I too have the greddy boost controller shown above. Is there another place I can mount it instead of the pic shown above. I feel someone will hit if they are not carful getting in.
Thanks
