There's been a lot of traffic from people in and around Austin ordering this car, but what about Houston? I usually end up spending a lot of time in Austin, but I live/work in Houston. So who's already ordered in H-town?

There is DrKillJoy (Keith), who happens to be President of the Houston RX-7 club. I think he is getting an RX-8 next year...

I had a gray own coming in about two weeks. I switched to a third allocation yellow which will be coming in 5-6 weeks.

Jeff Haas is my dealer in case you wanted to know.

Killjoy is fixing up his second gen RX-7. I'm not sure when he is going to buy an RX-8

So does anyone know of any 8s showing up in Houston yet? Everyday I strain to look as I pass Jeff Haas on my way to work, but nothing even remotely visable from the road - other than a gaggle of 6's.

I dont know if i can wait any longer....the anxiety is killing me at work....I hope to pick out either a black or grey one (touring base)....whichever one comes in first

This is a bump.

The Titanium car I listed will be available in about a week or so.

I'm just trying to get someone in the door. Haas was nice enough to let me switch colors. I'm just trying to find them a new buyer.

My friend got his earlier today, Red (of course).

I sold the first confirmed one to hit the ground yesturday. It was the red one, I am trying to get confirmation from the new owner if I can post pictures. He is not currently a member of the rx8 forum.

As a salesman, you should tell more interested people about the forum - it's good for them (lots of information), and good for you (builds enthusiasm).

My 2 cents...

RX8 Seller
07-17-2003, 11:36 AM
I tell every single person that I talk to about the RX8, I can say this with confidence, the people on this forum are way way more educated about the vehicle than I am, so I send them all here. On a different note, I just sold the second one that we got yesturday as well. So for us, 2 in 2 sold. A red one, and a black one.

Richard

Also, I got permission from the first owner to post pics, I'll be doing that today.

Man, the cars are trickling out of Midlothian slowly.

I went to Munday Mazda (close to my work) to sit in one and none were there - not a big surprise.

What was a big surprise was that they said that they haven't had any RX-8's come in period. Which is strange because they have more preorders than any other Houston Dealership.

I think it is about time we go to Midlothian and load the cars ourselves. Get the keys up there, drive the car to the dealership and then let the dealers do the prep. Screw the car carriers.

I agree with Wiggles. Show me where to get in line - I'm tired of waiting on a trucker. I'll drive it from Dallas to Austin to Houston. Good break in to boot!

i don't have a 8, but I'd like to hang sometime if you guys get a houston meet going. I live near downtown but my parents live by Jeff Hass and they are my dealer so to speak, we can compare the 6 to the 8. shoot me an email: tolkien71@yahoo.com

leases are still just so so through Mazda in my opinion. Nothing to brag about at all. I hope that changes soon.

Yes - the residuals are good but the money factor is real bad from Mazda. Thanks for the photos Richard - that guy should be been smiling more...

i was watching tv today when my friend called me up. he was getting off from work when he saw a red rx8 pull up next to him. he said that the guy revved his engine and to him it sounded like it was a mustang engine but it had a softer note to it. well he said that it looked pretty fast and that it sucks cuz he really didnt see the car run because of all the traffic. i was just curious and you probably already mentioned this but when did the rx8s get delivered to the houston area?:)

Boozehound
07-22-2003, 08:34 AM
Houston delivery started last week.

And it sure wasn't me revving the engine... and sounds like a mustang? bah! you can't hardly hear the engine/exhaust unless you have the revs well up the dial. If you see me around town, I'm the guy driving slow - until everyone clears out, and its time to open her up.

chrisrx8

thanx for the reply.
i dunno what he meant by it sounded like a mustang, he said it did but in a very softer note and he did say that its rev was high.
thats cool you got your rx8 enjoy it. i was supposed to get mines but i decided to wait till 2005. i wanted a red one with the 2 trim leather.;)

does anyone have the RX-8 in kingwood? If so let me know. I am thinking about buying one but would like to check it out for myself. Also why are some people waiting for the 2005? Is there going to be any changes?

So are there any other 8s in Houston on this board? I still haven't seen any driving around yet, and I haven't heard of the Houston crowd on the board picking theirs up yet.

I have been driving mine since last Wednesday. I live in NW Houston, and have the windows tinted, two coats of Zaino (so far), and approx. 600 miles around town. Might have seen me!

I have only seen a silver one on the road so far (mine's yellow).

Make sure to wave.........

Ive seen two RX-8s on the road in Houston so far....the first one i saw 2 weekends ago on Saturday around 6pm at FAO Schwarz by Galleria...it was yellow; the second one i saw on Jones Road (near West Rd) and it was right behind me (it was grey)....i didnt notice it at first but when i saw it I almost had a heart attack...haha

stopped off at Gullo on the way home from Conroe this weekend.. looks like we are most likely going to get the Green with the Camel inserts..(when, I'm still not sure) the car has so much sophistication in that scheme... Lori (girlfreind) says it reminds her of a Euro / UK style saloon with the tna on green.

we both really like titanium still.. but we just aren't sure about having to share a color with 45,000 other cars on the road.

Amen. I know silver looks good and the grey has a nice understated look, but I feel swarmed by grey and silver cars anytime I get on the road.

Well if any of y'all see a red GT with no tint (currently), around the Galleria or the west side of town, wave - there's a pretty good chance it's me - I still haven't seen any on the roads in town other than what's in the dealer's lots.

I agree...but since im under 25 any bright color (that attract cops) should be avoided....I dont wannna get caught doing dumb things. Some of my other friends have mentioned that they get tired of the color red/yellow after a while. Since this will turn into my daily driver, I dont wanna regret the color. I do think there are too many silvers (ie BMW 3 Series) on the road but it's not everyday that u see a "Grigio Titanio (ie Ferrari)." :D

The Yellow one was mine. I sawe you pull by right as I was walking out the door. Yours was the first I saw as well. The other I have seen was the red demo at Gillman Rosenberg driving down 59

looks like the 8 is becoming very popular in houston , i saw 3 of them today. a silver a red and a blue. i dont remember where i saw the first 2 but the blue one was by bissonet and close to kirkwood. it looked very nice at night. it has sort of a tint to it. ;)

I saw my first one last Friday(?) going west on the SH225 feeder and then darting north onto the Beltway 8 (just before that huge bridge). It was red and the driver (male) looked about mid to late 20's. For those of you familar with the area, it's where all the contractors come out of all those chemical plants next to the ship channel.

That was probably me out on 225 - I was out that way at the end of last week to visit a client's refinery - made good use of the nav that day...

Pelucidor - I work right next to the Galleria in the "Lake on Post Oak" complex. Other than that, it's usually back and forth to Katy.

I didn't order mine I just went to the dealer and as I was there they were unloading one W/ the options I wanted and I took it right on the spot. I actually bought it from RX8 Seller!
6speed
Touring Package
Appearance package
Rotary accent Package
Wing
6 disc
Still gotta order the spare tire

BTW RX8 Seller I applied the Zaino Brothers Polish and the paint in nice and safe now :) It's still slick I had to wash the car, Clay bar it, Wash again, then apply 3 coats of the swirl polish and 3 coats of the Z2 polish and between each coat was an application of Gloss enhancer. I love that stuff the car was looking bling** bling** hehe
