I tried it, but how do you rev with it?

You'd have to put it in Neutral to rev your engine.

So everyone here that talks about revving and driving has to put it into neutral to rev and then back into the manual shift mode?

You cannot put it in manual mode directly from neutral. And to rev and drop it in auto mode is not giving you any benefits exept a damaged tranny, so don't try. There is a little benefit from reving with the brakes applied (use both feet) in launching, but that overheats the tranny, so don't hold it more than 5 seconds like that.

Isn't holding the brakes and pressing the gas, then releasing the brakes bad? What I mean is, some people here talk about revving while in manual shift mode. Talking about 6k rev then dropping it into 4th or something. That's what I mean, how do I do that?

Clutch in. press gas. watch tach go to 6k. let off clutch. and do it in first.

Your thinking of a Manual Transmission car, not a Automic in manual mode.

Yes, holding the brakes while revving, called brake-standing, is bad. But so is clutch-dropping, which is the Manual equivalent.

And I can't recall any ATX-owners commenting about revving to 6K then dropping it into 4th. For one that would be stupid and pointless, since you'd only want to rev off the line when you want a good launch, so you'd be going into 1st. Revving and dropping into 4th would kill the engine in a heartbeat.

Perhaps you can find one of the comments you're referring to and someone could help you out with what they're talking about by looking at the context.
