17" X 7.5" wheels = decreased handling?????

Over the winter I scored a set of gram lights but they are 7.5" width. I know the stock 8 comes with an 8" wheel. Now, will this harm the 8's handling characteristics? or, can I just compensate with a larger tire size?

thanks in advance

Everything you do that decreases performance will argueably 'hurt' the handling in some way, but you already knew that, yes? Will it be a biggie? Probably not...depends on what you do w/your car. For the street, it's really nothing. For track use, your shooting your self in the tire er I mean foot!

But adding the insult of wider tires on skinnier wheels will compound the loss, not help it. W/7.5" wheels stay at 225 or less to maximize sidewall support and minimize flexing and loss of handling precision.

Can't hurt too much to just try what you want i suppose..after all you got um already...
