On our '93 Miata we added a rubber 'flap' around the fuel filler neck - since Mazda seems to have neglected a way to hang the cap on the door - to avoid scratches on the paint nearby when fueling up. The flap provided a place for the cap to rest on, instead of resting on the paint...

Anybody seem one like this for the RX-8? I think we got the one for the Miata at Moss Motors/Miata Mania so long ago, but I can't find it again...

I think www.griotsgarage.com sells a universal fit fuel filler flap. Check there site to be sure.
