Before I ask I did a search and couldn't find it. My dealer just reinstalled the shift knob and they have the shift boot twisted and it is driving me nuts. How do I take the shift knob without damaging the knob or the boot? I know it just screws on but how do I take it off?

Go ahead flame on... I know it is a dumb question....

The shifter just screws off, as our friend dannobre says 'lefty'!

...but the boot isn't connected to the knob at all, if it's twisted, just straighten it out.

You should be able to loosen the pressure on the boot by unscrewing the knob slightly(lefty loosey)! Then just twist the boot to the proper position. If everytime you tighten the knob the boot twists up again, apply a small amount of silicone grease between the knob and boot. And if the knob doesnt want to stay tight in the same position , you can apply 1 drop of REMOVABLE thread sealant to the threads. Then the knob will stay in the position you want, yet can still be removed if necessary.
