We already washed my car and dryed it.

We're using NuFinish.

We applied it with a damp cloth and let it dry

now we're wiping it off with a dry cloth.

We followed the directions to the letter.

but no matter how much we rub off (in circular motions) the finish looks cloudy.

What are we doing wrong??

My obvious answer would be "you are using Nu Finish"!

Seriously, that is an awful polish, and contains some abrasives to clean up old paint.

You could find some Zaino, Klasse, or Meguiars is very good too.

I use 3M products from an auto supply wholesaler - it's what the professionals use, they make a 'glaze' that will knock your socks off, especially after Nu-Finish!

so NuFinish just looks bad? It looks worse now then before we waxed it.

 

Meguiars NXT wax is the easiest and lasts a long time. Is your NuFinish an old bottle. The waxes that sit on the shelf for an extended period of time can phase seperate and cause clouding. You may have to rewash the car to get the clouding off.

 

As kachud said, you might have to rewash the car to get the clouding off. If you are using a car wash soap in general, make sure you use plain old dish soap when washing it to get off the NuFinish. Dish soap will help take off any existing wax on the paint. Car wash soaps tend not to take off existing waxes as easily. I also recommend Meguiars NXT wax which is easy to apply. You can pick it up at any local Target, K-Mart, Walmart, etc. Use the foam applicator (included) to apply the wax and just use some sort of towel (microfiber works best) to remove the wax. Let us know if you if you try the NXT how you like it.

I read up on the wax's everyone here use's before i touched mine and had a mechanic friend of my reccomend some. Gotta be careful!

 

Were you able to get the haze off?

 

Haze is still there, haven't had time to wash it again. Hopefully it will all come off.

I'm gonna try Meguiars NXT next, thanks for the recomendation.

 

if you want to kill an entire day (and your arm ), do the mequiars 3 step process. it looks amazing and lasts much longer than the NXT (but its also a lot harder to do).

 

it looks cloudy becos u used a damp cloth.... juz use a sponge applicator and buff off with microfibre cloth....

6 months? holy ****, what NXT are you using? mine lasts about a month and a half.

 

I garage my car at home and work...it can last that long in protection mode...but I still like to wax every month have that ultimate shine

I do have a garage which helps. I usually wax more often to get the clean shiny look but the car will always bead up water even after 6 months.

 

dats hell of a directions....

try using a dry cloth to apply, then wipe it off. I'm sure ur car will shine.....

 

make sure that the car's cool to the touch and you're not applying in the sunlight?

also, if it's humid where you are, that might have something to do with it... the wax might not be completely dry

I've tried numerous brands, and the best I've come across so far are the ones that let you wax as you dry, or the spray-on-wipe-off kind.. They are very easy, and produce a superb shine. The ones that take HOURS are not worth the effort.. Honestly, I used to be that type, but I've realized the frequency of cleaning doesn't change, and the difference between an easy job and all-day job is not noticeable, especially on a new car.
