stock exhaust when start up

is it me or does your 8's release a ton of carbon monoxide... i never noticed the smell with any other car before.. but like in my 8 litteraly 3 seconds after it starts you can smell the fumes and see the smoke... is this normal for a 8/rotary? cuz all my other cars dont do it to the point where i can smell the fumes that much....

Carbon monoxide has no odor, so what you're probably smelling is unburned fuel-oil exiting the exhaust. At startup, the RX-8 fuel-air mixture is very rich and some of that leaves the combustion chamber unburned or incompletely burned. Just check out the tips of your exhaust pipes and you will see the black deposit of unburned carbon material. Nothing to worry about.

Maybe marginally if shut down cold, but the difference likely will not be noticable.
