For all those who are interested, I plan to organize a Canyon Drive through Malibu down Mulholland Hwy to PCH and then to lunch @ Neptunes Net or Howdey's in Malibu. The weather will be partly cloudly but no call for rain.

Careful on the stretch of PCH... some of it is Debris-HELL. I drove there last week near the Santa Monica area...and TONS of tiny rocks and pebbles were crunching my beater car. Guess it's from all the rain/flooding the last few months.

We wont b rippin up PCH cuz of the cops and traffic. We should be stickin to Mullholand and a few back canyon roads i know from my motorcycling days.

For those coming from the city/OC/LA etc...
Take the 101 North - Exit: Las Virgines, make a LEFT, then proceed straight over the bridge. You will see the Mobil station. I promise you cant miss it. There isn't much there except a few other gas stations and a shipping center further down.

For those coming from the North ( Thousand oaks, Agoura, Westlake, Simi Valley, etc.) :

Take the 101 south, exit Las Virgines. The off ramp should dump you out right in front of the Mobil station if I am not mistaking. Again, you cant miss it.

I will be there at 9:30 AM. I would like to hit the road by 10AM if thats possible (I want to try to avoid the beach traffic/motorcyclists) That way we should get to the restaraunt by lunch time. The raods we will take will end up closer to Neptunes Net but if you guys dont want to eat there, we can cruz PCH down to Howdy's in Malibu. The food is amazing if u like Mexican and there is also a Starbucks, etc.

Good stuff guys! Even if its just the 3 of us, i guarantee a fun drive. I also recomend getting rid of all the loose crap in your car. Theres nothing more distracting than a CD case or empty water bottle slamming back and forth in the back seat :)

All I can say is two things..one, thank god for traction control :)...and two, I thought I had my seat heater on the entire time, then realized it was adrenaline that was heating my seat.

As for the roads, there is an abundance of choices there. I was really impressed. Every turn brought us to another wicked series of corners and some down hill straights where we were able to hit 100 plus, then down shift quickly to third and hang on for a series of rights, lefts and a couple that seemed like double u-turns. Wow.

Weather was cool, but sunny. Traffic was extremely light. We lucked out as most of the traffic was motorcycle traffic and they always seemed ot be going in the opposite direction. I think there was only two occassions where we caught up to any traffic on our side of the road, but they pulled over so we could pass.

A definate must do (again)...maybe next month. To be honest, it was kinda nice to have a small group. It was less to keep track of, so we could focus on the roads....beasue there was plenty to keep us busy. Thinking about it, we didn't see a single cop, or park ranger....But we did get a few "thumbs up" as we passed...that was cool :).

Oh, and there was an Ariel Atom up there as well. Some of you who have Project Gotham Racing may know about this. It is basically an open-cockpit car with a sporty little 4-cyclinder...very cool.

Sorry about pics...I won't be able to add any as mine are on a good old fashion take it down to Savons for developing kind...I'm still waiting for my digital which I bought a couple weeks ago online.

I'm up for that run every week. Maybe get a Torreto special at Neptune's Net next time :) I got Fast and Furious flashbacks as we entered the driveway on Sunday.

I would suggest a week or two off...put out another definate date and time. Give some people some time to commit it to their calendars so it is not last minute. I may suggest Saturday as a better day, or do you think Sunday is better as it gives us lighter traffic? I will invite some of the San Bernardino guys...I know they were hoping for more of a notice for next time. Our next San Bernardino meet is May 14th...so maybe not that same weekend. Just some thoughts.

Just a heads up: I got pulled over on Mulholland yesterday and got my drivers license "swipped". When I got home, I went on the Mulholland Raceway forum and saw that the local law enforcements started a "operation safe canyon " becuse the residents are getting pissed off of all the loud sports cars and bikes racing around. Their going to start confiscating cars.

I wouldn't recommend it. A lot of people use nitrous to spool the turbo faster but I dont think it is necessary unless you are invloved in some serious drag racing

well yes this would be with a large turbo that isnt spooling to upwards of 7k rpms or whatever but the rx8 cant really handle mroe than 11psi safely and the turbo ktis out now are only around 7psi and spool by 3k rpms so the turbos already spool fast and act almost like a supercharger.

the nitrous would be just for the fun factor of a controllable boost and satisfy my need for speed fast and the furious itches :D

A few of the Team Hybrid fixed up cars are in Oxnard. I swear, everytime I go up there with my g/f (hometown), I never see fixed up cars... then I read about how Oxnard is the home of some import show car, etc etc. A few heavily fixed up RX-8s are in that area too...

I sent you a PM, and Speeddemon posted a link to the final meeting location address. For all those others who are interested in coming, check the San Bernardino thread. A couple of us usually meet at 745/800 at Farmers Boys in Fontana. Off the 10 freeway (past the 15 freeway) at Cherry, exit right and you'll see it on the northeast corner.

This pre-meet is about 10 miles from the Pirate City Tatoo location and we all cruise there together. Come on out, We had meets as few as 8 cars, to as many as 16 in the three times that I have gone. We've gone on a different cruise each time....the most recent was through the Big bear area. Made for some cool snow photos :). Not certain exactly where we will cruise this time, but have had a blast each time I've gone.

arg san bernardino is like 2 hours away. i would actually go if i could drive, but my dad wouldn't even go to mazdafest and it was only two hours away and people were coming from different states to that event, he sure wouldnt drive 2 hours to go to dennys to look at a car that he sees every day.

We are going to be experiencing our cars on an aggressive drive. If thats not your thing, hope you enjoy looking at your car in the garage. Just mad that you guys cant get out of your mindset that things are too far away, or the I don't know attitude. Try things once and then make a decision. Its not like I'm asking you to take some drug....anyways. I guess I'm just frustrated at work and am taking it out on you guys, sorry for that.

I'll be coming again...this time with my digital camera to take some shots of our cruise. My co-pilot got some good practice in, in taking shots from the passenger seat on our San Bernardino cruise last week. I was also thinking that maybe I could cruise ahead of the pack, park along the side/shoulder, and get some as each of you pass. I was noticing that most of the shots we got from last weekend, were rear or side shots. It would be nice to get some front shots as you slide around some of these corners. Would love to get some shots of the body leaning to the side and the tires gripping the pavement on those corners. Ill be doing a car wash today in preparation. I'm definately getting excited and am hoping there is a better turnout this time.

How many are committing, and actually going to come?

Another request, maybe we could plan to eat at Neptunes this time, to try it out since we went to Howies last time. Just my requests...:)

The drive last time was about 3 hours long including the stops at various sites. Its was so fun last time, its worth coming down.

I think this time we will go to Stunt Road first (That view spot we stopped at) and then head north All the way to neptunes net. We will go the hard way this time, instead of the long sweeping fast turns, we will go the short twisty way. Then we can go further down to Dear Creek. I have a nice plan this time :)

Road conditions were unbelievable last time. We were seriously worried about debris, especially given the rain that occured prior to our last run, but roads were great. No problems at all.

still havn't recieved the midpipe, i doubt that I'll have it by the meet. But once I do get it on I'll stop by your work or we can meet up.

thanks guy's it was my first time out and what can i say other then it was a blast. i never thought i would run my car like that, but it was fun.

I just tried loading some intial pics....besides the issue that the site is running slow for some reason today...they reduced the file size again. Just last week it was 200K per pic...now its 100K...so back to resizing. I'll be putting up some groups shots first, and then posting groups for each person as I can...

Yeah I bought the dual suction mount so I can mount it to hood, trunk, door & ect.. so next time, Ill make a realy good action video. Great pictures Keith. I really appreciate it. The intercooler usually fits about an 1.5" higher, but my mechanic was able to fashion some stronger brackets (stock ones kind've fit oddly) and at the same time it dropped my intercooler placement a bit so that I can put my front plate back on (one of my requests, so I don't get pulled over by the po-po). Hopefully next time we meet up I will have my other stuff on.

Did any of you check your temperature gauges yesterday. When I was driving back after the drive, my thermometer said it was 105 degrees in the valley !

when i was stuck in traffic on the 405 i noticed 100. but thats as high as it got on my side...

Yep, we got to 103 degrees.....driving at a nice 5mph pace on the 405. What a change of speed!!

I waited around the area in 85 deg. Then went back to the valley after the sun went down :)

I had several chances to check the temp gauge on my way back...given that there were cones in the fast lane, and an upside down Neon on my way back....our air conditioners don't work too well when your going 5 mph and its over 90 outside. My temp gauge was 100 at a couple points, but never got over....

Thanks for all the feedback on the pics. It took a long time to get them up, as my internet speed was slow, and there was something wrong with the RX8 site. Its nice to know that they are appreciated and that maybe a couple were good enough to be new "wallpaper" on your work computers.....:) I know I love posting my newest pics there...its nice to leave it on and see people's reactions as they pass....:)

If anyone is interested in a 4x6 or 5x7, or the whole catelog on a cd, let me know. I will be erasing them all within a week, to make room for the next event. I am going to make some pics for myself, and I can always let you know the costs (4x6's usually are 29 cents at Savons) and keep them for you and bring them to the next meet....The quality is soooooo much better when they are printed out...the 100K does not give them justice...

hmm, i cant tell what he used, we'll see when he replys, but i think clears would be a good idea because you'd have the pure smoke color not a amber tinted smoke.

Ill probably hold off at least until I see how it looks on yours. One thing I would be concerned about would be the light that shows through in the daytime. I've seen some smoked lenses that have been done "professionally" (I don't know whether that really applies here), and they are hard to see in the daytime. They look good though. I'm also not convinced yet that I want to lose the look of the light. I didn't like the way the clears looked, thats why I ended up selling them. I kinda like the way the amber lense breaks up the front...gives the MS body kit some extra lines in black. Good contrasts. I'm worried that blacking them out may "squeeze" the front end so it looks pointed...I dont' know, I guess I'm just gun shy. Thanks for the offer however.

Ok, you sold me :D that looks incredible. If that is 25%, what did you have before. I'm thinking that 25% is a good way to go.

Tomorrow, could you take one pic directly head on..kind like my avatar? My only concern is that with no turn signals, that the headlights will look like they're popped out. I guess its hard to describe...but the turn signalks kinda "anchor" the bumper...without em, the headlights may look like they're floating...or then again, maybe its just the shrooms. :p

I just went down there today. First time i installed it my self using 35% smoke film and i wasn't happy with the out come. So today I went back there and had them cut another pair and had the pros install it. Its was $40 for the film and labor, looks pefect now. If you can wait till the meet, you can check my car out and see if you like it. If you want to try doing it your self the material cost $15 for sheet of smoke film, then you would have to cut it out. But I would highly recommend having them cut it and install it.

hmmm....sherman oaks is a long way for me...but maybe if they were open on a Saturday..say, maybe on the 18th..I could cruise on down there, say maybe in the afternoon or so....:)

I've installed a two layered graffic on my girlfriends S10 and it turned out great..but I've also tried installing tint on windows and I sucked....so maybe leave it up to the professionals, or at least those with the right tools and a whole roll of extra film.

Yup, their open on saturday. I wouldn't mind cruzing down their after the meet. It takes about a hour or so for them to cut and install it.

I actually didn't sand off the raised lettering. The guy said that it would look cleaner with it sanded of but its not neccessary. You can hardly tell the raised lettering with the film on. Ill post a pic. later.
