Just a quick thought;
On this forum, according to the EP register, we have 32 pre orders.
In the latest letter from Mazda to dealers it also confirms that there are now over 1000 pre orders, across 120 Mazda dealers.
From contact with my local dealer (also a very good friend) he personally has only had one possible cancellation due all the reasons detailed above, and can easily fill that cancelled position with the minimum of work.
Less than 5% of the pre orders unhappy vs 95% fairly apathetic regarding delivery and happy to wait, not a good equation if your looking for freebies etc..
Dealer friend also said, as a dealer, he would very very much doubt if they would offer any kind of direct offer to those thinking of canx.
Also the dealer letter confirms Mazda UK, now only expect to sell 2000, in 12 months from launch, effect on residuals should be encoraging.
Just a thought. What do you think......

I absolutely agree with you.
Question though : the 2000 figure your friend is giving. Is this based on demand for the car and Mazda have re-adjusted their forecast or are they restricting supply?

Are you saying only 2000 cars until October 2004. As around 1000 are pre-sold, this only leaves 1000 or less for the next 11 months?
If only Mazda had some sort of PR system they could discount all these rumours ang give us positive spin. Instead they are quiet and we in the forum are knocking each other into depression to the extent that we are loosing orders.
There are a few basic question that Mazda need to address and then not only would we have some answeres but also will suddenly feel loved again.
Not much to ask for £1000 down.

When you say "sell" do you mean "take orders for" (this would be on top of the 1000 pre-orders already existing).

I would certainly hope those ordering one of the second 1000 cars would have to wait at least until the spring to get their cars, otherwise what was the advantage of pre-ordering?
I just read an old issue of Car (January 2003) and it says in there that the RX-8 will be available in Europe from May 2003.
Laugh, I nearly fell off my chair.

I think its looking like Alaistair will survive after all, but the former Iraqi Information minister has turned up again. Perhaps they'll hire him to explain that October delivery was what they promised all along, and that 228 hp is actually better than 247.

Tariq Aziz, sounds more like a disease that a name. Maybe that will be his legacy..... and Mazda's.
