I super-imposed the HP/Torque curves. The torque curve is from http://media.mazda.ch. The horsepower curve is from calculation.

This isn't meant to take anything away from Spanish or Stan, but I prefer seeing the curves on 1 graph.

oh, btw!! i'm stoked that the torque is so high at 1k RPM!! wow... it's 1.3L friends, 1.3 L... wow.

i know what you mean wakeech! 1.3L! every time i tell someone new that it is only 1.3L they think i'm joking. they won't believe me until i show them the specs from mazda:D

Yeah, those are flywheel numbers (at least I'm 99.9% sure they are, it doesn't specifically mention whether they are or not on the site I quoted above).

Power (hp) = Torque (lb-ft) X Speed (rpm) / 5252. Therefore the power and torque curves must intersect at 5252 rpm. What's up wtih this curve?:confused:

Well now I see what's up with the curve. The power and torque scales are different so the intersection point is moot.:o

Okay, I've attached one I made with power and torque on the same scale.

I just had a look at the torque / power curves on that swiss website and something is definitely wrong with them.
Indeed, if you superimpose them, on the complete RPM range, the 'Hi Power' power curve is always higher than the 'Std Power' curve.
This cannot be right as, if one superimposes the torque curves, it clearly shows that, in some points in the RPM range, they cut each other. At these points, the power rating should be equal for both engine versions (since P=TxN).

So I know the power curves are wrong. Can I therefore trust the torque curves ?

Is the data from mazda media .ch?

If so why should we believe it. That graph is plotting almost 250bhp, even mazda dont say that anymore apart from .jp

Yes it comes from media.ch.
No it says 170 kW (231ps).

Does anyone has a reliable source for actual flywheel (ISO 1585)torque curve for the std power and high power Renesis? I need it to correct and verify a computer model (built on MS Excell) that I'm starting to work on in order to check different ways to improve WOT performances.

Not to be a party pooper, but, which PCM flash are these data derived from? ;)
