My local dealer(in CT) has at least 7 or 8. Various colors and options. GREAT prices, for obvious reasons.
Ex: $27,700 sticker for $21,900, $33,300 for $26,600, etc..... That's the posted price, so maybe even a tad less. Though at those prices....
I realize we've had a lot of snow this winter, but still.
Do others find this to be the case elsewhere? Just curious.

Yeah... ok

This was brought up a few weeks ago and I just ran another search. There is a dealer 45 miles from me advertising 41, yes forty-one, 2004 RX-8s in stock (between two dealers I believe). Several other dealers in my area have 5-11 of them and all of them have at least a couple.

I suppose it depends where you live. There are no '04s left in Hawaii.

Yup. Did a search in the San Diego region, and don't see any here. It must be tough selling RX-8s in Milwaukee over the winter months!

I don't think it's winter months as much as it's just a pretty blue collar town and people here love their domestics and SUVs. Though I'm sure the fact that it's a RWD sportscar and we have nasty winters doesn't help. However if you go to one of our Solo events there are as many as 15 S2Ks on a given Sunday, and I've seen other warm weather regions with very few.

there are two dealers within 10 miles of where I live, and between the two of them they must have over thirty 04's left.

Two months ago, I was actually looking to buy a new 04, but no local dealers had any left over. :( I knew I could have gotten a better deal, oh well I'm still as happy as a pig in chit.

In my experience in Massachusetts, they either have none or a ton leftovers. I went to 6 dealers, 3 had none and 3 had more then 15. One even had like 35 04's in stock. And I dunno if it still applies but with finanacing through Mazda with give you a bigger discount on what you have quoted. I got mines for 21,995, the sticker price was 29,970. There was also a 04 GTP with navi for 23,995 with the sticker being over 35,499 (yellow), and a couple of shinkas here and there for the same discount. I could've gotten an extra 500 off if I'd have a recent college grad degree. So I guess you have to search to find the deals.

just a little question for you all in the US.

would you of Brought a RX8 had it cost nearly Double?

just wondering as in the UK they cost roughly what your quoting in £'s!

Mickeyblue, it depends on how it compared to other cars. Here, the RX8 is only 10-20% more than several FWD I4 econoboxes.
most dealers don't have '04s
Yeah... ok  There aren't any left overs at dealers in my area, but since it seems to vary from region-to-region I have no idea what percentage of dealers have leftover 04s. Ike and Navybeardbb, how many Mazda dealers are there in the USA are there and how many of them have left-over 04s? How about world-wide?

Smoke Honda

I think it also has somthing to do with the size of the dealerships too. The ones I was referring to that have all these leftover have well over 150 mazdas in their lots, the dealerships with less then 100 seems never to have any in stock even the 05s.

I don't know and I don't care. But plane tickets to the Milwaukee/Chicago area are cheap. Come chose from over 100 MY04 RX-8s and take a roadtrip home :D

They have a sticker for 31k from 04

What do you think I can get from them now that it's April?

I don't know and I don't care. You rolled your eyes at Navybeardbb for saying that most Mazda dealers don't have left over 04s. You mean you don't actually know if >50% have left overs?

Ike is righrt about Milwaukee. You see very few sports cars on the road here. I've only noticed 4 RX8's on the road over one year period. It's a rare car here. This winter was also very snowy. People here avoid sports cars uless they can store them winters. I have snow tires on mine. Taking them off this week.

In reply to where this dealer was... Vernon, CT.

Interestingly, 1/2 mile down the road there's a silver 04' Evo that doesn't seem to want to move from the Mitsu dealer. The Subie dealer next door can't keep the STI's for more than a few days, though.

In my experiece meeting drivers of each, there's LOTS of older diehard subaru fans that wanted to try something fast and already had the brand loyalty. For a couple grand more than a loaded standard Impreza, Outback or what have you, you've got the STI....

Damn thats crazy weird! Where I live near College Park, Maryland and couple of miles down from the University of Maryland, there are NONE, ZIP, ZERO 04 RX8's Left over. I just checked an 50 Mile radius and found 0. You can do a search if you like on Mazda's web site. My Zip code is 20705.

Funny thing is that dealer that I was talking about that has 41 doesn't even allow you to search the RX-8 in their inventory, but they have plenty of em. Seems like Mazda is trying to hide just how plentiful they are.

They may be in plentiful supply in some areas....but RX-8 sales are not slowing. In fact, sales are up. Check this thread. (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=57340)

The may have been up for March but I think they are down for the year. That site doesn't mention how many more they sold.

My local dealer has a large selection of '05s but only two corporate '04 demos (with 6000 miles) and no '04 leftovers. One of the sales guys there is an enthusiast who has a slightly modded RX8 himself goes to auctions looking for used ones; he can't find them (at the last auction he went to, there were 15 350zs and no RX8s). He also says there are very few leftover '04s nationwide (for what that's worth).

(http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=57340)Not to be a wet blanket, but that thread links to an article showing a Feb '05 increase over Jan '05, which is to be expected; it's normal for a car like the 8 to see sales go up each month Jan > May. And the 8 is still selling below Mazda's initial 30k/year target in the USA.

Then again car sales are down in general, especially for the Big 3 (GM is in serious trouble). From what I've read, even though Asian manufacturers have increased share in the USA, their sales are down from last year (that's on average... it varies from brand to brand). Our mediocre economy and high fuel prices (for the USA) don't help a car like the RX8 either. So given the situation, the 8 seems to be doing OK.

OK... this is my first post....just found this cite and it looks like a good one. I'm gonna buy in next 8 weeks in Bay Area. How does buying an 04 figure into depreciation; hmmmmn I hadn't considered an 04. I guess the answer to my question is that the discounts compensate?

The discounts/rebates should compensate and then some. Also, considering there are almost no differences between the 04 and 05 when you go to sell or trade in the car the miles will be a larger factor than what MY it is.

Ok, how is this...I agree that the discount should more then compensate for the value/resale differance. With the reflash, the performance is the same, and there have been no cosmetic changes between the years.....

Yes, another post!!
