RotaryNews has been invited to the Short Lead press preview and launch of the RX-8, Tomorrow (Thursday June 19th) at El Torro Marine Air Base in Irvine. The program will include an in-depth look at the return of the rotary engine as well as ample time to experience the true essence of RX-8 through an autocross and a scenic ride and drive through Southern California.

We would like to, once again, put out a call for questions about the RX-8, and more importantly the Rotary engine in general. We'll try to get these questions answered for you by the Mazda staff on hand at the event.

Click here (http://rotarynews.com/comment.php?action=read&pgid=191&articleId=191) to ask a question. One question per comment, please (you can post many questions, but split them up into many replys). And remember this is an "RX-8" launch, and a look at the RENESIS, so keep questions on track.

The third port opening comes to mind. What is the real story behind this??

Any differences between the pre-production models we saw vs. production?

Any current recalls or problems reported in Japan?

What is the pre-order gift for U.S.?

When is the convertable coming :o)

What are they doing to improve the communcation to dealers/pre-orders. Many dealers had no clue that they need to enter peoples information into the computer for it to offically be a pre-order. They must fix this mis information problems.

Thanks Charlie

Given that the main concern in the public about the RX-8 is the lack of torque and necessity of brutal treatment of the clutch to get a sub-6.0 second sprint to 60, why is the gearing so tall in first and second gears? Many sports cars are geared so that 60mph/100kmph are reached at redline so that the performance stats that most buyers prize are optimized. Why was that approach not taken with the RX-8?

Edit - Doh! Just realized that they need to be posted on the linked site. I was in too much of a hurry because the event is today...
