Hi guys,
Wanna seek your advise on my base unit audio upgrade. What I have in mind is to retain the original CD cum MP3 player but change the rest.
Here's the list of things I have in mind, pls advise if it sounds OK or not.
Phoenix Gold 4 channel amp (125w * 4)
Phoenix Gold 2 channel amp (80w * 2)
Focal 6.5" front component speakers
Phoenix Gold 6" 2 way rear speaker
Phoenix Gold 10" woofer x2
All the high & low ins, cables are provided by my installer.

You may want a capacitor just to be on the safe side.

Well the capacitor prevents the audio system from draining your voltage and causing your battery to be drained and lights from dimming. It also makes the amp more efficient at times of increased usage. The general rule of thumb is 1 farad for every 1000 watts; I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to audio but I am learning. When I put 1 Pioneer 12" sub with a Crunch 800 amp in my Millenia S with the Bose system my lights would dim every time the bass hit. So in my RX8 I'm going for a more complete soundstage; I've got Infinity Kappa series Components up front and Infinity Reference series 6x9s in the back. Right now they are running off of the factory unit (the Audiobahn amp I had went out); I have a 5 channel Alpine amp, 1 Polk/Momo 8" sub, and a .5 Farad Capacitor in the mail as we speak. I plan on running everything off of that Alpine amp, the .5 farad cap (good for systems up to 500 Watts) is there for insurance. The setup would probably be fine without it but I'd rather have the extra juice than have to be jump started after some light club-hoppin'. The components that you listed are very good though--I would go for a capacitor just for extra measure--plus they are not expensive.
