...and the Mazda RX-8 wasn't even mentioned. That's pretty disapointing. Especially considering the Mazda 6 and Mazdaspeed Protege were both mentioned. Tons of raves about the 350Z and some of the other cars mentioned weren't going to be available until about the same speculated date of the RX-8. The same goes with the most recent issue of Sport Compact Car: Josh Jacquot mentioning several exciting cars to be out soon, but no mention of the RX-8. I don't blame the magazines as much as I blame Mazda. Mazda had better start throwing us (including car mags) some bones unless some of us won't be able to hold our breath for much longer. There is just too many choices to soon be, or already, available in the speculated RX-8's price range for Mazda to be holding back so much information.

I think because there's near no information on it, aside from the horsepower rating, and the fact it's using a new rotary.

...but there were some test drives on early versions and promising things were mentioned. Some of the other cars mentioned in the top 50 were nearly as untested---like the new Dodge Neon SRT-4. Mitsubishi's Lancer Evo has no definite numbers on the American version, but it was mentioned. My point is Mazda NEEDS to start leaking at least a little more info so potential buyers can at least be motivated to hold their breath a little longer and don't start looking elsewhere at the competition.

I agree... currently i'm probably gonna buy the RX-8, but i still have the 350Z, WRX, n' Lancer EVO VII floatin around in my head. the other cars are still a possibility mostly because i've been able to read unbiased reviews about them, but the RX-8 duzn't have any.

All of the cars in the magazine are "2003" models. The RX-8, when delivered next year in May will be a 2004 model thus I belive it was not included.
