My wife was looking at getting a boxter..... I'll tell her to wait for this model then.

Afterall, we need space to cart around the dog, and the back seats in the 8 are a little uncomfortable for him because of the transmission tunnel running through the centre of the cabin.

After months of rumours about a fourth Porsche model, German car magazine Auto Motor und Sport now published an article stating that Porsche will bring out a four-door GT with both V8 and V10 engines. This new model, which will have the name Porsche Panamera, will be presented to the public as a concept car this autumn at the IAA.
After the name Cayman for the Boxster Coupe, now thus the name Panamera for the fourth model. The Stuttgart's sportscar manufacturer patented both names mentioned above on the same day (15.1.2005) at the German patent office in Munich.

As stated before, the concept of this fourth model will be presented during autumn of this year. The most important facts about the new model is that it will be a four-doors and four-seater. It will be a front engine car with rear- or all-wheel drive, and both V8 and V10 engines with a range of 340 to over 600 HP will be available.

The prices are to be settled between 100.000 and 150.000 €. Annual production of 20,000 units is focused. The assembly in Leipzig is to begin in 2009

I think the description read better in the original German ;)

The Cayenne is one thing -- a niche 4WD, but I thought Porsche had learnt a hard lesson with front engined cars in the 924/928. But, who am I to query VW AG's plan for world domination :p Just another platform!
