truthfully i believe that a my-sg club could be organized. the fact is straight that there are not more than 30 rx-8 owners in kuala lumpur. and it wont be a great club gathering if we cant fill up the jockey area with all rx-8's . the reason for the club is for us to share experiences on mods of the car. this will help the owners of rx-8 to better the quality of their car. there is also another group now in zerotohundred.com that is organizing such a club and i hope we can join forces with them too.

how much is the 8 going for in M'sia and what are the specs? saw and advert in the papers for RM240,000. just wondering what specs it is for that price. when i drove up a few months ago, i saw a black 8 in subang jaya other than that, i was the only 8 cruisimg around n getting stares from the public - very stress!! :eek:

8 is going for about RM240,000 for full specs 6 speed manual and about RM260,000 for auto (cant understand who the hell wants to buy an auto, they are two different cars totally) but these prices are actually quoted prices and can fall about RM30K each if you negotiate well. I just bought mine for RM205,000 with navigator that has been mod to become a DVD/cd/mp3 player. it is a full specs car with 18 inch rims and bodykit. i scouted for it for about a month before i got it from naza. even then they only sold it to me at 215K but i got it brought down to 205k . unbelievable. had to do a little negotiating and a huge downpayment which i will be getting back as i got the loan approved at 229k . interesting huh .

i'm not too sure if it's cheaper in KL. since the rx8 is brought in only as grey imports, cycle and carriage do not carry any spare parts/accessories for the car. Your best bet would be the personalized body kit vendors in KL. You can call Daiichi - 603 56388266 or Bumi Fiberglass - 603 79545575 to see if they carry replicas. There's also another shop in Sunway that's quite good, but i forgot their name, Bonnyloh does, u can ask him.

if you have a rough idle at around 750rpm... chances are your plugs are almost gone. I'm having that prob but after making the engine sing.... i did noticed some improvements. maybe u can try that but power loss i have no idea.... soz mate

as for the 6-7k power loss

this is what ive found :

install a new cat, spark plugs(get the hotter leading plugs)..........ignition coils........and this will solve your problem.........

there is a bodykit shop near my house in cheras they are quite good . but i believe that not many shops would hold anything for the rx8. maybe you would have to custom make . anyway went to a great shop in damansara perdana for the past 2 days. had my tint done and ordered some badass sound system worth above 10k . hopefully with the fyber glass installation it wont exceed 30k .

hey boonyloh, i just installed a clifford alarm from the place called CSE. they gave me a deal on it and they were the ones who installed my stereo as well. i think you should go to them, they have very good experience with the RX8 (electronics, wiring), which i think is very important. Not a single drill on my car. let me know if you're keen.

this my first post in this forum. i own a red rx8 that is one and half year old. I bought it in Australia and get my car imported back from there to Malaysia. My car just arrived today after a long long shipment and hope to get my car on road after paying the taxes and others stuff. My car's body is in quite bad shape and need to be repaint. hope to get this solved before the car moves around PJ and SJ.

by the way CSE in Uptown Damansara is the shop where my father supported for the past 20 years(me go there for 5years only). we get alarms and ICE there. And one thing i must say i that the boss (aka James) is quite honest with the customer and if you are not satisfied with the item you bought, he will glad to replace another unit without any extra installation charge. i'll go n get myself a clifford alarm unit as soon as my car is out.

CSE is the place where i installed my alpine unit on the cupholder. the owner James is awfully qualified with the RX8 and i'm very pleased with his work. i got the clifford alarm from him too (G5 - 750)....

I'm sorry to tell you that the RX8 merchandise in KL is even worst...they don't exist! you're better off going to S'pore/HK to get stuff there. Alternatively, you could check out the car accessories stores like Brothers (in Kelana Jaya) for cheap stuff...Good luck!

i was fixing the mp3 unit yesterday spent 3 hours finally got the panel out it was a PITA... tonight i'm gonna fit it and play with my mp3 and see how it goes...

aaron's the guy who started this thread! he's not been active since...hmmm i wonder if he's still around..

still haven't had the chance to bring the car back to naza yet..i'll do it next week...this past week has been sooo packed!

once u have mp3, i don't think you'll be changing CDs much...good luck with the installation and let us know how it plays! see if there's radio...

lol hahha i just finished fixing it myself!!! its done... and it plays great

one thing though the radio is not incorporated... its a whole different unit

the whole is connected through pins from the radio unit, the power comes 1st to the radio unit and pins on top connects power to the mp3 cd player.

the removal process is the time consuming part i took in total 4hrs total with 3hrs on removal alone.

but now its all good...... I'm playing jazz.... lol

hey ,, i know i have not been active here lately.. the reason is i am trying to get a restaurant up so that we guys can go lepak there when there is a group session.. i got a unit at the curve ... intending to come up with a fusion restaurant cum bar ... have asked whether we could park our cars inside the area.. this would allow us to show off our stuff to people who lepak there .. ( in front of chillis ) .. the renovation is going on at the moment and i just noticed that i am running out of cash.. anyone interested to join up ?? well anyway hope it gets going and we can all have an rx-8 club meeting down there..

Yes,Actually i'm student there for two years and decided to bring back along after graduated.

And yes again i did recommend CSE for audio and alarm as i'm long term customer. But whenever you shop there, try to bargain to the max before you installed any thing ( actually he already gives a very good price ). He's workmanship is good and kinda friendly as well.

actually there is a guy in mutiara damansara in kl that does a jo\good job on tinting and alarm system .. the best thing is that he is also a JSOC member.. and he gives very good pricing for soundstream products.. the name of the shop is called the tint shop.. the owner is Nick .. if you are going there tell him aaron asked you to come.. anyway JSOC group are going down to penang this weekend.. i am hoping that we all can meet up and drive down together.. am interested to meet up with you guys in singapore as well.. should be going down after the 24 th april as i will be away from the 18 ...

the restaurant that i am openin is called Blue Garlic... it has a liquor licence :) and serves cold Tetley's (yum .. yum..)

what colour is your car.. is it frey as i saw an rx-8 greythat got quite a bad slam at the back left .. dont know of any good ones but surely am sad for you.. gonna cost you a bomb as the color is a pearl color ... should try sunway .. if you need airbrush then i have a friend that does it

my car's pearl white. yeah, i know, these workshops are going to sharpen their knife and slice me for sure when they see it. i don't think airbrushing helps, what i need is a bit of bodywork and spraypainting it. my plate's 800, flash me if u catch me around.

Do you know where the foodcourt in Sunway is? There is a workshop just beside of DMT newly opened. The painter is called Ah Chun and he did a good job. The boss is Ah Peng, he's is a magat lou. If you drop by that shop, just tell them that Ong "KoH" recommended. they will give a good price ( cos i'm half-boss there). HEHhhEH.

Shop is located just after Sunway Pyramid, where Amoil, N1racing, KSP Power and other workshops are located. Same row as Speed-D and DMT (now brankrupt but taken over by a new owner). i think i've seen your car before in ss15, went to the mamak dharos and saw a black rx8. where do you normally service your car? do you encounter any break squeals so far? my brakes are squealing bad, maybe my maid's been spraying on the wheels too often (every morning in fact) and it got them to warp when i get it heated or something. shucks! yeah let's try to meet up together with the rest of the rx8 guys for mamak or something? any suggestions?

As most 8 that have been brought in to m'sia and probably s'pore there is no freaking radio. i've already fitted a 10 disc changer but i'm starting to miss listening to the radio. The only other solution given to me is to fit one in the glove compartment ( i don't think so), any other ideas ppl

If you're keen on the radio, what i did was having an aftermarket unit installed where the cup holder is. that way, u can hide it as well as having it close to you when you need to fidget with it... anyhow, if you need more info, do PM me or call me (my info's in the database)

Just finished meetup with JSOC members and the next RX 8 Malaysia Club meeting will be held on Wednesday 4th May 2005. It was great to meet new member Kean (lennon)

sorry that burnog has been away for a while .. he was in penang enjoying himself wih adrian and the JSOC guys .. we had great fun .. i have only about 10 pictures or so .. ( was more enthusiastic about driving and racing then taking photo's ) but i do have pictures of all the beautiful chicks that were there.. sadly they came with their partners.. and yeah adrian if my wife did see this thread i would be dead meat.. hahahaha..
anyway the next meet is tomorrow (wednesday from 9.30pm onwards) vincent doesnt go online much thats why he is not on this thread.. we are coming up with something for the JSOC group that will allow us all to chat in a different manner..

1) Official Club Name - RX8 Club Malaysia

We will also invite a few members who have done up thier 8's in the near future and create a one off team to represent the Club in all the car shows in Malaysia. The name of this group will be - Team Renesis (Malaysian Division).

We will also try to get the name (Rx8 Club Malaysia) registered with the R.O.S very soon. Details of it will come out during our next meet.

2) Official Committee Members for RX8 Club Malaysia 2005/2006

On the meet, we have also elected our committee for the next year.
a) RX8 Club Malaysia President - Marcus (theshortshortman)
b) RX8 Club Malaysia Vice President - Aaron George (burnog)
c) RX8 Club Malaysia Secretary / Treasurer - Amelia (our 1st woman member)

During the JSOC meeting tonight, We will also find out more about the AFOS gathering and keep all of you updated.

We will also be under the supervision of our parent Club, JSOC until our database for the RX8 Club Malaysia is big enough for us to be on our own.

tomorrow we are trying out a new device that might be able to disable our speed cut.. testing on two cars an auto and a manual .. auto will be my car and manual will be vincent's .. will let you guys know on the outcome.. apparently it doesnt do anything else other than cut the speedcut.. it only cost's a fraction compared to unichip or even HKS .. we are told that it would be in the region of RM400-500 .. cheapest modification on my car yet ..

for those who went to the afos meet as you can see i do not have a reverse sensor on my car but what i do have is a reverse camera .. put it in together with the dvdrom turned dvd-rom burner and card reader now i can take photo's of the cars trying to chase me and also a whole 30 minutes dvd of me racing with other JSOC members..

i am now quite sad with the dyno done on my car but after the race yesterday with all the JSOC members i do find that the automatic does have a privelege .. i only used my 3rd gear to go as fast as 187 kmph .. have not even max'ed up my rev.. it was about only 6000 rpm when it hit the speedcut..

i have ordered FC Pro from a dealer in malaysia that is opening end of this month.. his name is wei liang for those who know him .. he will be bringing in two tuner's one from germany and another from australia.. i hope that the fc pro will do much for my car .. just to keep you guys guessing as well ... guess who has ordered a supercharger for his auto from japan ... hope to get it before july as i would like to tune the fc pro together with it ...

Eric is the champ of class 2. Tony actually race in Class 3 but had to compete with 2000cc car (he's car is 1600cc) due to lack of participants in Class 2. Later he damn angry with the organizer and felt cheated. However, he still manage to cucuk the integra before driveshaft problem. :(

Nice BMW!! with 2 liter can go super fast but the exhaust sound so elegance in the race. Wish my BMW are like those!!

My ings come from Japan. Its PU and price at RM7800. For FRP can cost upto RM6500.. At KL seems to a bit different from Penang, you can find more yougster like me driving it...... But the problem is that they drive it to attract girls rather than revving it....

T618Z is almost the same as TD06... After putting it on, the torque has increased dramatically..... can do 5sec for 0-100 guahh....60hp increase at 0.45bar is quite reasonable. But i haven't dyno yet. Imagine if i boost until 1.5 bar. Of course have to get low compression rotor, stronger apex seal, bigger fuel injector and etc..... :cool:

1. Any reliable car dealer which you guys know or recommend to get the car?
2. Noraml is wic year production car ? is 2003 tear good enuf or too old? what is the price ?
3. What should i look for when i would to purchase the car? any specific areas? and how to determine if do?
4. Automatic or manual is better ? currently driving a manual car


Yesterday drop by NAZA and saw one red colour @ 220k ..basic with out body kit ( without spoiler) and then wen to another dealer in pj and saw also another RED RX8 with spoiler @210K done 8000+ km..... any comment of the price?

Let me answers your questions:
1)This is a hard question. I dont even think dealer themself know about the condition of the cars when it's imported. Most you can find in Malaysia are reconds. So luck is needed. Naza gives you a year warranty, but the rest i dunno. But i not saying Naza is good, cos their services are bad(their mechanics are entirely not familiar with RX8).

2)year 2003 version is the earlier model. Try to get the latest cos ecu version might be different. 2003 model might range from RM175,000 to RM195,000 (cos some comes with bodykits, aftermarket exhaust or rims). RM210,000 is good for brand new, not reconds.

3)Overall i should say i haven't had any trouble with the car after two years of driving. I haven't heard a single complain from my friends who bought reconds yet. Try to look for oil leak on engine and suspension. If there's area which is suspiciously clean like suspension area or undercarriage, better watch out.

4)Since you used to drive manual, better go for manual. Cos Manual got 40 more horses and more options to mod in future.

Turbo kit are available at mutiara motors, but expect it to be more expensive... I get my turbo in Sunway....

I m totally new in rotary engine and would appreciate someone out there to advise me on the maintenance, what type of right fuel, motor oil, gear oil and so on. Is there anyone know who any workshop in Kuching who can maintence.
Other thing is that sometime when I slow down and make a corner turn, I caould hear noise at the rear, could it be the gear box or brake or ????.
