CARB legal turbo?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether there are plans for a CARB approved Turbo or SC? I love all these kits that are coming out, but having built a car before that wasn't "legal" i would much rather wait for something that I won't have to take off every few years for certification or have to worry about when a police officer asks me to pop the hood. Thanks in advance for your response

Probably not going to happen for a while/if ever. They had a good explanation of this in last months Sport Compact Car on why the superchargers have this advantage over the turbo. The turbo delays the light off of the catalytic for a bit. in that 30 sec.-1 minute is when 90% of the pollutants get out. So a turboed car will fail emssions.

There is no way a cop would see a Greddy turbo, as the turbo is on the bottom of the engine bay near the right side wheel, unless he really knows what he is looking for.

Wait for a supercharger kit. Those have a much better chance of being CARB legal.

Well, there are CARB legal turbo kits out there for some cars. Miatas have this, for example. I think the fact that Greddy locked the e-manage may point to them possibly looking for certification.

Well, I don't have any insider info, but why else would they lock it? I've got my fingers crossed, anyway. :D
