View Full Version : Japan Flash? djseto 02-23-2005, 01:12 PM As I understand it, we dont have 250HP because of emissions.....so why cant we just find someone with a Japanese Flash and have them send it to us and find someone to flash it here? Other than the software, is there anything on our US cars that has been changed to detune the engine to our 238HP? epitrochoid 02-23-2005, 02:50 PM i dont think the japanese flash will even load onto a non-JDM ecu. but even then, the code is well encrypted (anyone put it on a logic analyzer?) and loading it onto the ecu requires the mazda tool...you've have to know some brass to get that done. Well then you run into the problems where the Japanese versions of the rx8 have a different setup, some emissions equipment not present, etc., where we US models still have all that stuff. Without the ECU to control them they probably wont do anything. Now if you completely removed emissions and swapped harnesses I don't see why that wont work, but you'd have to do a fair amount of swapping for things.
