Interesting. Came accross this site that has a calculator that determines your HP based on the weight of the car and the quarter mile time. As a simple test, I put in the car's weight as 3200 pounds (including the driver) and a quarter mile time of 15 seconds. It came back with 243hp and 187 HP at the wheels!
I messed with the weight and quarter mile times and it always accounted for a loss of 23% in the powertrain even when I changed the name of the car.
Seems that this is somewhat consistent with some of the results some members have dyno'ed.

Many on this site have stated that the HP in the RX-8 is less than 238 and probably closer to 210HP. They also state that most 8's can't do the 1/4 mile in less than 15 seconds, with a few exceptions. So I guess someone else thinks that the dyno tests and quarter mile results we have heard or seen from members here is kind of in line with this site's calculations.
