Hey All!

I stumbled upon this forum while doing research on the 8 about a month ago, and have been lurking ever since. When I became the proud owner of a shiny new red '05 6-speed GT last Saturday I figured it was about time to pip up and say hi!

Part my decision to buy the 8 is because I am hoping for a seat in the Formula Mazda Pro Series in 2006, and since I was in the market for a car, I figured the RX-8 would be a great way to become familiar with a rotary engine (advertising in motorsports really works... ;) ), aside from being a heck of a cool car. That said, I will allways drive within the safe and accepted limits while on the road.

I do have one question. Is it possible for the dealer to re-arrange the pedals to make it more comfortable to heel-toe? Right now my big toe is barely hanging on to the brake and I'm afraid it will slip off.

i don't think so. you'd have to do some custom modifying of the pedal brackets yourself. the pedals are spaced apart fine for me, and Keiichi Tsuchiya doesn't think it's too far apart either. :D

Welcome, and the pedals are fine for me...but adjustable ones would be great...

Lol, I've been driving a MINI for the past 3 years and with street shoes the pedals were perfect. I tried the Mazda with both my vans and my driving shoes and neither feels quite right. It may also be that the accelerator is too far foreward so under breaking it's nearly in front of my foot. I suppose either I'll take it to the dealer and ask or just adapt.

Welcome to the club... since you're an aspiring formula driver, you might know Luis Schiavo -- he's a regular on this forum that races in the Star Mazda Series, as he also owns an 8.

As for the pedals, I know some Miata guys would bend the pedals a little toward each other to facilitate heal-toe'ing, and others fabricated pedal covers that were closer together... but many just swear by a good set of driving shoes.
