At MotorExpo I saw the leds in the rear light side strips. It's a Japanese car and they are (seemingly) white leds which activate when the rear lights (red) are on. Now as far as I know it's illegal in the UK to have a white light combined with a red light at the rear at night (unless reversing?) so can we assume that for the UK market they will either be red or missing?

I have looked at the rear light clusters and I cant clearly work out what is what in terms of rear light, brake light, indicators and reversers etc.

The RX8 book mentions something about the LEDs but cant remember exactly.

I would also be interested to hear if anyone knows.

If I remember I will ask on Friday at Motorexpo to see if they know.

Worth a try but they didn't even know the leds existed until I asked them to turn the lights on so I don't have high hopes...

Sorry to butt into the Europe forum....
The RX-8 Book we received a coupple of weeks ago referenced the LED strips in the rear tail light assembly, which, I assume, are the horizontal strips between the bulb locations.

Reading it in the book was the first time I had heard of them.

If you have a look at the images I posted with big file sizes then you'll see the leds activated (in daylight). There is one in the centre of each strip.
