hey tyler...i'm from springdale, AR. i ordered my rx-8 at superior mazda. waiting for the velocity red auto GT with red/black interior with the appearance package.

Are you getting tired of knowing more than Superior Mazda , I know I am ! I think MNAO is not giving the dealers timely info, not the dealers fault ! I'm Waiting on a Silver ,6 MT , moonroof , Bose cd.

Did you Pre-Order or are you getting on of the 5 dealer allotments. I pre-ordered on 1-8-03 and am getting REALLY excited. If you did pre-order do you know why we are not getting our e-mails from Mazda? If you did not pre-order ,e-mail me and I'll loan you the Pre-Order Book that was sent .

I think your right with ordering the appearence pkg , I should have ordered it to but once it became available my order was locked in ! Are you getting the leather or cloth ?

It won't be long now that our cars are "on the water" I think we will be zoom-zoomin' by mid July.

i'm not sure if i'm a preorder or not. i guess i should go find out. i ordered mines on 5-10-03 but the sales manager said i should be expecting it sometime in july, but i think im getting one of the allotments because he said that he had one automatic on order that was silver, but if i wanted the red he could change it. he did enter my email address though and i guess i might be a preorder.

i'm getting the red/black leather seats. i really didn't want leather but that was the only option if i wanted to get the red interior. but yeah, i still haven't gotten any emails either, but i'm still excited about getting the car. maybe i'll see you driving around town...i go to school at the u of a.

Pre-Order meaning that you ordered on the Rx-8 website . Sounds like Ken is selling from his allottment . Last I heard he sold all 6 the he is getting .

have you talked to mazda lately? i called ken last week and he said my car has been built and gave me my vin # but he wasn't sure if it was "on water" to the states. did he mention anything to you about when they would be expecting any rx8 in the dealership?

The latest info that I have is that my car was mfg on 6/10 and waiting on a the second boat to Port Hueneme , Then the 14 day voyage ! Looks like our cars are going thru Midlothian (Dallas). Spoke with Ken about 10 days ago and he felt confident we would be zoom-zoomin' by mid July!

I've been waiting for this cars to be available for about 18 months , pre-ordered for 6 ! I'm starting to wonder if they really exist !

Have you tried to run you vin with someone here in the forum ( ibfubar / budaman) I'm curious to see your status and how that fits with ken has told us .

i read a post from budaman that said the next boat of rx8's left japan today with about 500 cars on board and should reach port on july 8th. i hope my car in on it.

I thought I saw a post from budaman saying that the second boat ARRIVES in cali 6/27 ! Can't find the post now though !

Remember that the info on our cars says " Status 10 - New Vin " meaning they haven't completed production yet !

Thought I would drop in on you guys since I used to live in the neighborhood... moved out when I joined the Air Force a long time ago. My mother and sister still live in Springdale and my daughter is in Rogers.

My first road trip in my RX-8 will be to come home for a visit in August. I expect I will receive the car mid-July. So that will give me time to get the break-in period out of the way before I hit the road.

If you see a Black RX-8 with TREKN8 Virginia tags, honk! ;)

hi wizard....i'm not absolutely sure when our cars are coming but like tyler, ken told me most likely mid or end of july. also from one of the post i read, there have already been 3 boats that left japan. the third boat should reach port H on or about july 8. im confident our cars are on one of the boats. when did you order?

I ordered mine in May 2003 out of their first allotment. Was able to change most of the options I wanted on a black 6 speed GT package. I'm READY to get this car-gonna be a fun ride!

Yeah, it has been a long wait hasn't it? I've been waiting for a 4-seater sports car since I traded in my 3rd generation RX-7 (OUCH) on a minivan when my kids came along ....... that was 1994!

How long you been at Chuck E's? It's been awhile since I've taken the kids, but I've been there many times in the 6 years I've been in this part of the world.

The Japanese folks had a 1000kM break-in period to not exceed 7000 rpm. I figure US specs will say 1000 miles. 750 if we're lucky. ;)

Interesting in the one post (http://www.rx8forum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5785&highlight=15000) that there are supposedly two RX-8s (one auto, one 6speed) making a mad dash around the US for 15,000 miles as some sort of final check before the cars are released.

Decided to stay with Black. My RX-7 now has over 263K on original engine. Gotta love that rotary! And the new one reminds me of the doublemint commercials... "Two, two times the fun!"

Prepare for the WORST ! I spoke with Ken @ Superior , He happily told me that my car was due by week 4 of AUGUST ! OMFG!!!!!!! I told him that the people that work for me won't be able to handle me for that long , he didn't realize that I wasn't joking !! I think he is giving me the worst case . I ordered my car BEFORE he ordered his , why am I getting mine last ? wtf !? At least I got the thermos & mug ( only slightly happy :confused: )

i can't believe he said 4th week of August for you Tyler. That's just too long of a wait especially when you were anticipating a july delivery. Did Ken mention anything about his other cars in his allotment? I'm hoping i still get mines sometime this month. The last time I checked my vin it was status 20-on water and that was about 2 weeks ago. hopefully it's at port now. i'm keeping my hopes up. BTW...i finally received my book. i didn't think i was gonna get it either, but i haven't got any of the other gifts.

As for my vanity plate...i think i'm still going to get it. at first i wanted it to be RX 8, but everyone in the US is going to have that so i think i am going to put my name, cause it's very short, and then RX8 after it. you think that would be ok?

Have you talked to Superior about the ETA of your car? I ordered mine from his allotment as well....about the same time as you. I find it hard to believe that he is not getting his first allotment til the end of August. That's two months longer than he originally told me that he'd have the cars.

Tyler, is your car part of his allotment? Did Ken give you any indication as to why yours (ours) is going to take so long?

I am bumming out for you man..........BTW/ I've decided against a personalized plate. It looks like the process is fairly painless though, if you want to get one.

To your question , I ordered on 1/8 ( before Ken ordered his ). He called to confirm my order while I was in the process of moving into a apt. here ! I finialized my order soon after . I was not part of his package of cars .

Here's a thread I started that ibfubar2000 tells how to get a vanity plate. The only downside I see is that you have to send your choices off to Little Rock (I think) to get processed. I believe you give them 3 choices and they process accordingly. Seems like it said that they won't tell you on the phone or net if a name is available.

(IE; their reports show the car is in transit to the dealer)

If so, how did he explain that he had just told you the end of August?

All contact that I've had with MNAO have been accurate so far , Ken has changed the date several times ! I want to be an optimist , I think it's coming ( why would they send the e-mail to us )

IbFubar & Budaman have stated that the reports are 2+ days behind the ground .

Ken has been talking about a unexpected ( free) car for 2~3 weeks . That was the one that arrived today , some sort of display thing I don't know the deal any way, it was not one of ours!

It's black and gorgeous ! it has no (zero) options just the bottom of the line car . If that is the basic one we are going to LOVE ours ! 6 mt , basic audio , 18" wheels

You have to drive it ! The engine rev's FOREVER (2nd gear ~45 mph @6000rpm)seems like we have a few gears that we will hardly use ! steering is precise and easy . The cloth seats are more like suede really grips you . I see what others are saying about the "blind spot " but I really don't think it will be a problem once we are used to it . corners as if its on rails . Ac will be fine , it worked very nicely . The doors are sweet . so exited I forgot to open the trunk !

This car drives/handles really well , road noise was very low even with the ac off and the radio off . I drove around the block and everyone on the road was staring !

People have said that the is a different car in person , that a understatment ! Looks and feels muscular / athletic .

Man you are going to love the black , looks stealthy . From the drivers seat the front fenders remind me of a tiger ready to strike . The wheels are HUGE and really as far out to the corners as i have ever seen .

Right now I so HATE my current 626 , the rx-8 is such a distinctive and striking car. Mazda has got a great car here !

I am so ready to get this car!

I got a call from Superior today telling me that they had gotten this car, and for me to come and see it. I have to be in Springdale on business tomorrow anyway, so.......I may have to convince my colleagues to take a sidebar trip to the dealership and get a glimpse of this car. Everyone that's seen the black is ranting about how good it looks. It will be the first black car I've ever owned. The last 2 RX's I've owned have been red.

The "reviews" that I've seen throughout the forum have all been superb, so I can't wait to climb behind the wheel! After owning the 3rd generation RX-7, I doubted that Mazda could come up with a car as fun as that to drive, but it sounds like they may have just succeeded.

I'm glad you got to drive it man, let's just hope they get ours soon! You don't think Superior would let anyone drive our cars when they arrive, do you? Well, I think they are reading the forum now so............................................

The way things are going, I will be delaying my trip. Still no RX-8 for me.

The dealer got 3 of the 4 cars he was expecting. Guess who #4 was for? Might show up next week. Mine was the only one of the four to have any port options installed. But I have seen where other people in the region have received their cars with the same options.

My insurance from State Farm was effective yesterday. :( Guess I'm covered if it falls off the truck on the way here.:p

The WORST thing I could have done was test drive that car !!!

It made me even more anxious to get it .

I am so disappointed with the whole pre-order program , What was the point of committing early if any nissan reject could walk in to a dealer a drive home in our cars !!

The only thing stopping me from getting this cars is Mazda !!


btw they changed my delivery date (again) to August wk 1 , this is the EIGHTH date they have given me !!EIGHTH!!!

I ran by Superior on Saturday and took a look at the Black 8 they had on location.......Tyler, you were dead on man, it's a beautiful car. They told me to go drive it, but I had my 8 year old with me, and he was ready to go to a movie, so I just sat in it for a few minutes and got a taste.

I don't have to drive it (I want MINE to be my first!) I know how good it will be..........

Mazda had a strong obligation with the RX8 to refine and improve the "experience" of driving the 3rd gen RX7, and from the feedback from all the lucky ones that are driving their cars this weekend, they have succeeded! :D

Ken said mine had been moved back up to July delivery. The way I cipher that, that leaves less than 11 more days to wait ??????

OH well, I think it's going to be worth the wait. Hang in there boys, I think our cars are almost here!

Oh BTW, my initial thoughts/concerns after only SITTING in the car. I will post my detailed report after I drive mine off the lot.

1) The car is smaller than I had imagined

2) The trunk is TINY - 2 sets of golf clubs? Maybe for my 8-year old, but not my Callaways

3) I'm only 6 ' tall, but with my seat positioned the way I like it, no adult will be riding in the driver-side back seat. Kids should not be a problem. (If they take their shoes off so they don't scuff the seat backs)

4) Cockpit is tight-I LIKE IT!

5) As I said earlier, the car is GORGEOUS !

Can't wait to DRIVE MINE.....

PS - Tyler, I found myself saying "Oh My God" when anyone asked about my impressions of seeing the car yesterday. I think I must have gotten that from you and your threads.....:D

Well, hope your RX-8s are there or very close. I picked up mine Monday night (7/21) and it is absolutely awesome. :cool: Mileage at the moment is around 17mpg but I have not been shifting efficiently ;) We'll see what the first refill numbers end up being. 70mph in 6th is only 3500 rpm. It picks up speed so fast you forget to shift higher because you are already bustin' the speed limit!:D I need more practice. And after 18 years with my 5-speed, maybe I need to put a postit note above the tach

I think I am back on track for a mid-August visit. Timing now will be reciept of the TREKN8 tag. Temp expires 8/21 and not sure how early dealer will give me a new temp extension. Virginia takes up to six weeks for custom plates.

What's the latest guys? I was told a week ago that mine would be here in week 5 July and still no car.......

Anybody else heard anything?

went by mazda last week and they told me probably 2nd week of august. the date keeps getting pushed back :mad: oh and by the way, if you all didn't know superior mazda has a red rx-8 with red/black interor at the dealership. you should ckeck it out...looks real good.

I'm really getting angry ! My car left the inland port ( on the way to dealer ) July 26 ( as of today that is 2.3 mph for my undelivered RX-8, since being released to the dealer )
It's 8/4 still no freakin' car ! I have the address to write the president of Mazda , just trying to form a rational letter !!

btw AsNrx8 , I drove both of the cars that Ken has and it only makes me more pissed off !! Did you know that our dealer has already delivered a RX-8 !! 3rd week of July no less!! WHERE ARE OUR CARS !!!!

If we miss a payment , we are penalized with late fees

Hey guys, thought I'd get in touch with you since we're all in the same area. I'm in NLR, and test drove a yellow MT this past weekend. They had a red, two blacks, yellow, blue, silver, and grey at the dealership. They look simply beautiful. I hadn't been looking at the RX-8's until I drove by and saw them parked out front. They are amazing. I brought the wife by to see them, and she loved it as well, so now we're thinking about picking one up off the lot. She wants an automatic though, so I'd really like to hear from any of you who may have gotten theirs already. What do you think of them so far? I'd like to check out your rides if you're ever in the area.

Which dealer in LR are these cars located, and are they pre-sells, or for sale?

You didn't happen to notice if either of the blacks were 6 peed with GT package? If you didn't I can look up their dealer inventory on the net. (although my preorder shows in my dealer's inventory now, but no car)

btw on my DAILY phone call to Mazda today , they actually told me that they " can't locate the delivery truck " not that it was between x dealer and y dealer , they just can't locate the truck !

From my understanding, they were all up for sale. People were driving several of them (the yellow and blue for sure). I didn't ask about each car individually, so can't be 100% sure none were preorder. They were all lined up together on the front row though, as if they were up for grabs. They had enough there to warrent placing purchased cars in back where people can't drive them I'd think.

I don't know the packages real well, but if I recall correctly, most had the 18" wheels, but only the silver automatic had the spoiler on back.

So, any news on your RX-8 deliveries for NW Arkansas?

Provided I receive the extension on my temp tags, I will be rolling in to town Friday. Tyler, are you at Chuck E's open to close? Which days?

By the way, received the strakes and rotary wheel centers yesterday. Also, front mask/bra. Thought it might help protect the front on the trip. Hope to be able to install them, but forecast for next two days is not good. Have to have dry weather since I don't have a garage to work in. Also, when I remove the wheels to put the new centers on, I'd like to paint the calipers Black at the same time.;)

I'll be closing this Friday evening ! I won't be there during the day , because I am spending every possible moment in my silver Rx-8 !!!!!!!!!! WWOOOHOOOO!!!!!!

Got it last thursday , my face is still sore from the smile !!

Doesn't look like I will be rolling in this week because of the tag issues. Trip will slip one week. But I will be around NWA for the rest of August and Labor Day. Just got and installed my clear sidemarkers last night. Excellent!

Enjoy your vacation Tyler. Of course, with an RX-8 that's easy! :cool: Be prepared to have lots of people gathering around the car wherever it goes. One guy almost walked into a closed door at the post office last night because he was looking back at my car. ;)

Well, looks like I'll be one of the next Arkansas owners. I think I finally sold my Yukon today and will be shopping for an 8 starting tomorrow.

I like the guys at NorthPoint, but they don't have what I want in stock though they have several on the way. They are willing to get me something to drive until they can get what I want, so that's cool.

What kind of racing are you looking for? I race my car at both the strip and the autocross.

Both of my statements are legal. Drag racing and Autocross are both held at legal sites designated for such activities. Since you seem a bit new to all this, the drag strip, at least around here, is a 1000' strip that clocks your accelleration from a stop until you cross the finish line. The autocross is where you have a course created with orange cones that you must navigate in the quickest amount of time. Both are a blast. You should try them both, although I think the RX-8 will shine more at the autocross events.

I didn't mean to imply that what you mentioned wasn't legal. I was just explaining what I want. I want a place where I can put the 8 through its paces without worrying about getting a ticket.

I'm not worrying about drag with the 8. Autocross is definitely more what I had in mind. Sounds like fun. But what I really want is an oval or road course. It doesn't have to be Leguna Seca, mind you. :)

Centerville drag strip is about 10 minutes outside of Dardanelle. They have test and tune every saturday night where you pay 10 bucks to run your car all you want. Come on the 30th! :p

You need to go at least once, if only for the experience of it.

And don't worry about your tires, one night out there won't hurt them. And I can assure you they they arn't anywhere near as expensive as mine are:P

Any of you have the black RX-8 that was at JFK and McCain intersection last Friday (8/29/03) around 1pm? It's the first one I've seen on the street instead of at the dealership. Sweet ride.:D

Who has the red that I pulled up next to Saturday in Fayetteville?

I took a great, winding road on the way to see the Razorbacks play this weekend. To avoid freeway construction, I took hwy 65 to Harrison, then 412/45 to Fayetteville. It was great fun driving through the twisties in the Ozark Mountains. Can't wait to do it again!

There's an Autocross this weekend if anyone wants to bring their 8 out to see how she'll run. Let me know if you want more info.
