View Full Version : another one with weds wheels
rotarenvy 01-25-2005, 07:37 PM here are some pics of my car with weds TC-005 wheels.
size 18"x9" 39+ front and rear with 235/40/18 tyres.
wheels are 8.7kg each (a bit heavier than expected. with tyres about ~2kg lighter per wheel than std)
before anyone coments it just came down off the jack so the suspension will drop a little bit as it settles, but it wont be lowered.
thanks to all they forum members that helped with offset advice!
also thanks to Nakaji's site http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/nakaji-rx8/

rx8fosho 01-25-2005, 07:52 PM cool, painted calipers would look cool, they would really stand out in the same blue....
\\Konig\\ 01-25-2005, 07:57 PM nice, they look real good with the blue
rotarenvy 01-25-2005, 08:24 PM thanks for the positive comments :)
the wheels really show off the brakes but I don't think I will paint the calipers blue. from experiance on my last car blue just dosn't stand out. they would have to be in a brighter blue than the paint work.
BlueFrenzy 01-25-2005, 08:30 PM Great looking blue! Kinda scared me there ... most people lower their cars ... yours looked raised ... ha ha! Looked like you were going to go monster truck styles.
We're almost twins (minus the rims). Any future plans for the car?
\\Konig\\ 01-25-2005, 08:54 PM i would suggest painting the calipers a nicer looking grey or silver.

your probably right but I'm going to try red as I've always wanted red calipers :o

apart from painting the calipers I have to finnish hooking up the defi gauges. I may lower it if I can find the part numbers for the mazdaspeed spec II shocks that are hight adjustable or maybe Feed.
as for dreams  a combination of customised mint blue body kit and re-amemiya.
looks good mate. well done ;)
XDEEDUBBX 01-25-2005, 11:21 PM looks good
slllygrl10 01-26-2005, 08:18 AM Just a suggestion you should try lowering the car. The front has a big gap.
TxRx8 01-26-2005, 09:13 AM ^^^^^^ What she said.
TR1GGERx1 01-26-2005, 09:26 AM drop that shiz!!!!!!!
rx8fosho 01-26-2005, 05:32 PM since you said it will dorp a little, can you give us some updated pics?
darkducati 01-26-2005, 05:53 PM How about some pics down the side that show how the wheels sit with that offset? I am looking at some wheels tha are 18x9 with a 38mm offset so I am very interested in how they sit at the fender lips.

I would have to see it in person
Mr. Ed's rx-8 01-26-2005, 11:27 PM i like those rims...might have to check those out. what did they run you if you don't mind me asking?

I'll post more pics on the weekend. you will be ok with 38 on a 18x9 they will be just under the guards in the front (as I said I'll post pics on the weekend). it really depends on how much camber you run or are willing to run! I reckon I have heaps of camber but I haven't measured it yet.
check out the link I posted above you will see the same rims on the guy in japans car stick out by 10mm in the front. he has exactly the same size and offset but you will notice he has little if any camber. mine are just under at the front and still marginal for .au rules (cops). if the cop squints to one side of vertical he may say they are outside the guards
It's a bit pointless posting prices for US members but they are a cast rim about 1/2 the price of what you pay for a volk.
rotarenvy 01-28-2005, 05:39 PM new wheel offset shots are up.
you can just see the rubber on the front from above. the rear has a little more room but you can see that there is a lot of camber there.
darkducati 01-28-2005, 08:39 PM Thanks! You have made me very happy. BTW, your car looks great with those wheels on it. Good job.
markd 01-28-2005, 09:00 PM Yay--your chrome tips are clean!

--Z-- 01-29-2005, 06:19 AM Nice color scheme. Those wheels set it off nicely.

LucasET 04-27-2005, 11:38 AM Gives your car a utilitarian look....and I mean that as a compliment. Looks athletic, almost like a track car.
Flawless 04-27-2005, 05:17 PM Lookin pretty good... do you know if they make those same wheels is a silver or gunmetal color? I'm curious as to what they would look like. What type of wax you use on your car... looks very shiny!
Cattywampus 04-27-2005, 05:56 PM I like it. But Eclps0 has the best rims for blue. Blue calipers would look very nice
davefzr 04-27-2005, 11:15 PM Hey. I crashed my car the other day and I need to purchase two more wheels. Where did you guys purchase yours from? Everywhere I call they are on back order so I am curious where you guys purchased yours from.
Thankx a lot!
rotarenvy 04-28-2005, 02:27 AM Lookin pretty good... do you know if they make those same wheels is a silver or gunmetal color? I'm curious as to what they would look like. What type of wax you use on your car... looks very shiny!
the rims are called gunmetal. they are a darkish grey with a metalic flec through them.
you can get silver and a number of other colours even a fluro yellow
the wax is a british brand autoglem or somthing (sorry can't be bothered going to the shed). it's ok and has a liquid finishing pollish thats easy to apply.
rx8_250f 04-28-2005, 11:35 AM looks good, you need some wider tires for 18x9 though. 235's are a little small for them.
