View Full Version : Cheaper Insurance? ($675)

I got emailed a link to an insurance mob I had not heard of before, with enough of a speil to make me interested enough to follow the link...

http://www.ozicare.com.au/

I entered the details for an on-line quote, and I got a pleasant surpise of an $800 premium (for me) on a $500 excess. I upped the excess to the max $1000, and my premium dropped to $675.

That sounds a lot less than what I am paying. I might look into it some more. But it did have choice of repairer, which is important I reckon.

Cheers,
Hymee.

I think that might be an age issue. One of the restrictions on mine was "all drivers over 30", for which I am eligible.

Cheers,
Hymee.

so what is a reasonable price for insurance and which company would be best to use.

Mine's $980 per annum from Suncorp for Fully Comp, Garaged in QLD 4060 with Rating 1 (incld Protection), Rental Car, Glass Cover, both main drivers over 30 with no endorsements. SC also include 2 years replacement for the 1st Registered Owner.

I've already had to use my insurance and was very happy with the outcome including choice of repairer and efficiency.

The Ozicare quote was $1050.

When insuring mine last Nov I tried about 6 sources and Suncorp were cheapest as well as good T&C's.

No I have a great rate through NRMA, she is fully insured. Just not many people will insure me even with a max no claim bonus and I am 29.

Hmm... ended up being slightly dearer than what I'm paying at the moment with AAMI. My car is used for business purposes so that probably affects the quote.

Mmm. Interesting how it is cheaper for some and more expensive for others.

Never heard of them so I'm not even going to bother getting a quote.
There's enough trouble with getting paid out on claims with the large insurance companies, what do you think it's going to be like with the no-name ones?

You reached that goal with a huge margin, did you?

I get $1450 with $1050 excess.

But I am paying $1050 for all the mods I have fitted, so it still does not beat that yet:p

Thanks for the link Hymee

$1100 with AAMI on max no claim bonus. $400 excess. I'm 28, unless you are an 18 y.o. chick, in which case I'm 23.... ;)

No mate, only a quarter of a century old. :)

Yes but the difference is that you are older and wiser than I am......... plus you don't happen to live anywhere near Automobile Rebirthing Central aka Bankstown. :(

Hey All,

I'm with RACV and I only had to add another $200 to my existing $580 insurance. I'm 27, and it's only costing me about $800 for my insurance (fully comprehensive). Plus its pay by the month, with an excess of only $350.

If you are real keen, and think you won't prang your car @ your own fault, I'd go with AAMI, pay up front but increase your excess to the max ($2k) and you'll get an even cheaper deal.

Although, I feel every cent is worth it on this baby of mine.
