I found this one a bit interesting... it seems to have the fog light mod

 

What fog light mod? I can light up my my car's fog lights too when the parking lights (or whatever they're called) are on.

 

What mod am I meant to be looking for?

It could be that on US models, the fog lights cannot be lit up unless the headlights are on. I read about it somewhere on this board, I think.

No other car RX8 I know of comes from the factory, with the ability to turn the driving/fog lamps on without having the headlights illuminated. Perhaps yours is special?

 

Well I can....factory FE32 Euro spec 6MT. Plus, I've got the puddle lamps :p

I haven't seen any Mazda advertisements(commercials and magazine ads mostly) with the 8s that have the appearance package.

 

Whoa... I just woke up, and there's been a lot of [European/Australian] discussion on this photo in the last 5 hours. And, ironically, those are the RX-8s that do not need to re-wire their fog lights to come on without the headlights (which I didn't know before, but I do now) Anyway... I wish this was a product shot, because that would mean I'm a photographer on the RX-8 marketing team -- it was 2 am, and I was bored, and this was the result. Nice eye on the "no driver mod", Tracer.

 

In Sing we can buy the Euro spec "high power" 6MT engine from Mazda if we order from MM and not a parallel importer (or JDM spec) car. I think this also applies to 8's bot in OZ if not mistaken, other can confirm. However, its the S-type 8 and not the GT that people can get in NA. The puddle lamps are neat little lights under the side view mirrors that come on when you close/open the doors. Don't seem 'em in the sunlight, but at night they are very cool
