im getting a little impatient, everyone has already gotten their books and accessories packets and what not and i havnt gotten shit. im getting a little worried. knowing my dealer, they prolly managed to fuk something up. so is anyone else in the same boat as me?

i work at a mazda dealer and i have not received anything either, so i checked with the sales manager and they had my email address wrong ( you may want to call the dealer and verify your info) i talked to the sales manager today (5/27/03) and they had a vin for my car (date on printout is 5/28/03) i have not received any books though.

sorry dude, but to my pleasant surprise, i had a little package waiting at my door today...it was a great way to come home from work after a nice long holiday weekend...

the book is nice, i haven't read it yet but i did learn that the Audiopilot mic is on the center console and not in the steering column like the 350Z which gave innacurate readings due to road vibrations...so that's a nice plus...

was it the hard cover book? looks like the $50.00 rx-7 book? or was it just a small book about 100 or so pages?

Its a nice hard cover book about 200 pages long. Nice little present, but i just see this "present" as Mazda trying to buy some more time ;)

it definitely is a VERY nice book, something you'd see at the book stores selling for $50+...it's around 200 pages, full color, hardcover...if you take the sleeve off, the cover has an RX-8 engraved with a sillouette of the car...if i wasn't a collector, i'd sell it on eBay and make a few extra bucks to cover partial payment the car!

EDIT: well maybe not partial payment...maybe a gas fill up... =)

Just got my book today! And even though I ordered Jan 9, rx8orders said I wasnt a preorder! That is, until I pestered my dealer enough to get my email on the order. Looks like it took! I got the book!

I have not received mine yet. I moved after placing my order and figure that it will take a couple of days for the mail forwarding process. Hope to have it by Friday but we shall see.

not yet. My original preorder had an old address. I later had it corrected. Seems that should have gotten the correct address for the book. Waiting to see.

Received mine today. Mazda is certainly a passionate car company though I have never driven one before! I hope their quality will match their passion on its product, then it will worth my decision to switch and order one of this RX-8.

I received my book yesterday. Very nice indeed! I didn't get to read much of it, but it's in the same format as the Yamaguchi authored 2nd Gen book I was given long ago. Quality stuff!

I suspect, many of those who should be getting it, will soon. I guess it wouldn't hurt to politely follow up on it though.

No word on v.i.n. yet, but the folks at Mazda seem to be communicating with me anyway.

Got my book Yesterday. I'm surprised considering I ordered the RX8 late March. I also received the Wankel Rotary Engine book that someone recommended in an earlier thread. Great book so far. They suplement each other very well. The Mazda RX8 book is awesome. I'd rather have the book than any other dinky toy. Peace.

For those of you who haven't received the book yet (that includes me), just give it a few days. They were probably sent out from a single location and might take a couple of extra days to get to certainparts of the country. i would guess if you haven't received one by the end of the week then you might want to follow up Monday.

And Canada gets Zip. Maybe Mazda Canada is waiting for the paperback version.

Well, after all that ranting yesterday morning about not being a pre-order, I received my book yesterday afternoon. Very nice.

I'm still pissed about the pre-order thing though and my dealer hasn't called me back!

no book for me yet but it looks like they are hitting the west coast sporadically, one in san diego, one in tacoma washington etc. so i'm going to chill like boowana said and wait until at least friday. i'm a little worried though that since the dealer has screwed up a couple of things before that maybe he didn't enter my mailing address, i don't know if it was one of the mandatory fields or not

It is just a bunch on pics of the car, more history of the renesis, more how they car up with the concept etc... It is nothing that ll of us havn't read a thousand times now. I would have rather had anything but this book. All the other pre-order gifts were much better than this book. The US gets the shaft...again.

Arrived today!

Just after I posted that my dealer e-mailed me with my VIN# and told me to expect my book in the next week or so, my wife talks with me and said, "Guess what came today"? Yup, my book got here.

I was a little skeptical about receiving the pre-order gifts since my car was coming out of the dealer's allotment. But now it looks like I may end up getting all the gifts along with all of you that ordered the car through the pre-order sales program.

Still wish it could be a set of watches like the Europeans, instead of a die-cast model and/or a keychain, etc, we are due to get.

I got mine forwarded from my prior O.C. address 5/28/03.

While I'm happy that we're getting any gifts at all, I also would've preferred getting a watch since I'm sort of a watch junkie, myself.

when / where did you order? Have you at least seen an Inventory Status Report showing you 'your' car? If not, I'd ask for that. On occasion [it's not 100%] rx8orders can help. some they can't. I can't find a pattern to it. Good luck!!

'wanker' is from Cupertino also. 1st allocation, had build date of 5/30 - has a VIN. Check it out, maybe he has same dealer?

I'd ask the dealer to check 1) the 'preorder' on the computer and make sure the email address is on the order 2) have them show you the inventory report 3) give rx8orders a shout if the dealer can't figure it out.

p.s. FWIW , if the dealer in May attached you to an order they placed after 2/07/03 [cutoff for 2nd alloc] you may be 3rd allocation which may be why you have the build date of June/Wk 1 - I have not yet seen any VINs for any 3rd allocation folk - but at the same time, I haven't seen many posts by them either.

What's the ISBN # off this book? Our South Atlanta dealership Hennesy Mazda received a copy, but I'd like to purchase this directly. It's not on amazon.com yet :(

BTW - I confirmed today most of the good Mazdaspeed accessories won't be available initally. That includes the mazdaspeed bodykit, carbon fiber interior accents, lightweight racing seats, etc..

I think the upgraded Mazdaspeed shocks, tri-strut-bar, etc.. will though :)

BTW, I'm waiting to see if a Mazdaspeed edition or convertible will be released 1/2 - 1 model year from now. Any more details on those models ?

i don't think it is going to be availble to buy for awhile. i checked our parts list and it is not even listed yet. the rx-7 and miata books are but the rx8 books are not. perhaps someone will sell theirs on ebay...

They told me that they would ship me another one and it would take about 6-8 weeks??? So I will have my car before my book! I will bet no one else can say that.:D

Rx8orders yesterday said they are shipping mine again, first class, I should get it by the end of next week (= 6/27)- I should get the book before the car, but hopefully not by much!

got off the phone to mazda and they say there a delay on th book going out to some uk customers duunno why there you go still want it ASAP........

I doubt I'll be the last preorder to get a book because it appears some got the screw and didn't get one- but I finally got mine Friday June 20th. Unfortunately we were moving this weekend so I've just been able to read a little bit. Hope all preorders eventually get theirs! And now that they've hit shore perhaps the book is a minor detail.

nobody here can say for sure - probably not - it was for meant for those of us who preordered - but, they likely printed more than they've given out (partially because I don't believe all preorders got sold) - so you may luck out and get one from either Mazda or your salesperson / sales manager. You could always drop a line to rx8orders via email and ask what they think. If you have your order number send it with your inquiry.

Beleive it or not, I haven't received a book (from the pre-order) yet either.
(I did get one from the short lead press event.)

I too called the 800 number, explained the situation to the helpful CS rep, and she explained that it'd probably be 6 weeks or so until the vendor sending the books gets it shipped out. (guess this isn't an amazon.com operation.

no i haven't my dealership doesn't even have a clue what's going on they quoted it me that mine was gonna come in some time between september and january, some time next week i'm prolly gonna call the dealership and see if they have gotten anywhere on it yet

i think it could be because they just now got around to updating my mailing address (my first book was forwarded to me from the old addy). i got the same "thank you" letter as well...it was just dated differently (juen twenty-something instead of may twenty-something).

I'm not so sure about that requirement of getting the VIN first. I ordered the RX-8 just over 2 weeks ago and I received my book today (6/27) without receiving anything else. I certainly hadn't been expecting it nor anything else, so it was a nice surprise.

i got my vin 10 days ago also so hopefully ill see my book soon.need something to take the edge off.:D

Same with me. I ordered my car a month ago, and I have received no e-mails or anything, but I did get the book in the mail today. It has put my mind to ease a bit because I wasn't sure that Mazda even knew that I existed. I am very happy about the whole thing!!!!!

I'm same with Haze. Ordered in May. then nothing, nada, no email, no nothing. Called rx8order to check status. Still nothing. Then all the sudden, the book came.
