...how do you do it ? and if you can't do it, how do you keep the car registered?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but with our OBD II cars, they don't sniff test, at least not here in Texas, they just check to make sure there is no check engine light. We don't get any kinda of visual inspection either, therefore, I bet with a O2 fooler you'd be fine.

That's true in Texas but in other states they have to pass a visual inspection. The kit definitely wouldn't do that. Technically the kit is illegal for street use. Depending on where you are at, you may or may not be able to get around this.

There's always one thing that can get past something like this. The good ole american dollar.

In TN they just check the ecu for codes and issues, do not have to pop hood...I know the testing varies.

Here in Ohio they have a visual for a cat and the sniffer.

We all know that Calif has the worst of the worst. They check all those things, if there is an aftermarket valve cover you fail. Doesn't matter if you have the cleanest exhaust ever recorded in the history of the world, you fail. They check that the gas cap doesn't leak. No kidding / fact. They hook the sniffer right to the gov agency through the phone line.

This is why if you can get a CARB cert the other states will take it. So the answer is to get the kit a CARB cert. I'm going to find out what that takes myself very soon. I know what the rules say but what it takes in real life we will see. BTW we have SEMA to thank that it can be done at all. Our state in it's Orwelion wisdom didn't want any avenue for exempting aftermarket equipment.

I'm not too worried about it since my next car inspection is due in July 2008.. hehe..

If the car isn't smog legal in your state due to a turbo, you take the turbo off before getting it smogged. That's what my buddy had to do with his Miata (even though CARB certification is pending for his kit).

I don't know how easy it is to take them off and on, isn't it a pain ? I guess if I only have to do it once every 4 years or so thats not AS bad....
