These guys really made me feel welcome at Tech day. Trussville Mazda graciously shared their bays and lifts for those interested in doing their own work. There were plenty of other Mazda owners on hand to help and give out pointers. There are also discounts available to club members. They're looking to get other RX8's involved. Membership is $25 and open to all. Tech day was part of their January activities, Rotary Taz (who owns both Miatas and an RX8) should be updating on future events. I'm looking forward to the next. :D speedweasel 01-09-2005, 09:30 AM It's official, I'm the newest member of CAMS! These guys really made me feel welcome at Tech day. ONOFIVEO 01-09-2005, 08:15 PM Speed, if you haven't already, send him a pm. He was online a minute ago. Rotary Taz 01-09-2005, 08:30 PM Rob, If you are interested. the local Miata Club, CAMS (Central Alabama Miata Society) is seeking to expand its base (a move Mazda is pushing) to include all Mazda models. In that regard, we would welcome any new members from the Mazda community, including rotarys. I own an RX8 as will as Miatas. Keep an eye on the RX8 SE portion of the Forum and I will regularly post information about CAMS activities. ONOFIVEO just joined CAMS yesterday (our first non-Miata member) when we held our regular Tech Day, a day when the local Mazda dealerships allow us to use the service facility/lifts to perform maintenance and installations. We have our regular monthly business meetings on the third Thursday of each month at a restaurant on the southside of Birmingham called Ranelli's. We have a tentative event planned for February 12 at a custom car shop/restoration facility here in Birmingham. Again, watch this forum for additional information about CAMS activities. Of course, you are welcome to come join us for any event and check us out, and then decide if you want to join. I believe you and other RX8 owners would enjoy the type of activities we hold each month, and of course we are always looking for new and exciting things to do. You can contact me directly at this email address: bettyboophd@mindspring.com. Ernest ONOFIVEO 01-12-2005, 09:45 PM Taz, I won't be able to make Ranelli's next week, but hope to make the Feb 12 meet. Does anyone happen to know who drives the Silver 6 Speed in Huntsville and goes to Plamor Lanes alot? I believe they bowl in the Leage on Thursday but cant figure out who it is. om-nc 01-14-2005, 11:16 AM Don't know about that one. Ti gray here and my son has a Nordic. I am in Research Park and live east of Hsv. Speedweasel works close by as well. Welcome to the cult. Paul JJ01769 01-15-2005, 04:48 AM Don't know about that one. Ti gray here and my son has a Nordic. I am in Research Park and live east of Hsv. Speedweasel works close by as well. Welcome to the cult. Paul I think I might have met your son a few times. He go to Buckhorn? I have a friend who goes there that has a 7. He introduced me once or twice. om-nc 01-15-2005, 08:03 AM Thats him. He is at a Drum Corp International tryout/rehersal this weekend in Jacksonville. I am going to get my new comp tires mounted Monday, P-0 Corsa's 265-35-18. I have to do something to keep him slower than me at the local autox! The friend with the 7 is Clayton. I think he may have gone this weekend as well. He went to the last one, but I thought Drew told me he wasn't going this time. Maybe we can have a Huntsville lunch outing in the next few weeks. Anybody up for that? Paul JJ01769 01-16-2005, 04:38 AM Sounds good to me. Ill try to attend if I can but with being in high school and working almost every day a week takes up alot of my time. On top of it, the extra time I do have at night usually goes to working on a project car my friend and I bought. We found an old 86 Corolla that we are setting up for a drift car. ONOFIVEO 01-31-2005, 12:29 AM Good to finally meet you Mr.Wilson007. Your 8 looks great, I'll be adding tint (probably 32-35%) in the next few weeks. I'm not sure if the weather has anything to do with it, but I'm waiting until it warms up. misterwilson007 01-31-2005, 08:51 AM Thanks.....I enjoyed the time i spent at the dyno. I just wish i could've stayed longer. It was nice to have put a face with your name. Maybe we'll see each other again b4 the dragon in april. I hope your tint job comes out well....keep me posted. rx8pilot 02-04-2005, 11:45 AM *clears throat*....anyone see my first post? anyways.. yeah..i'll repeat.. i'm here in enterprise...and there's about 8 or so that i know of in fort rucker and enterprise... i guess it's an army officer thing.. rx8pilot 02-13-2005, 02:22 PM bump DucGasm 02-17-2005, 11:18 PM Hey guys, Homewood area here. I found the is board a while back, but it seemed alot more useful if I remained a lurker. Anyway, I am dont know if you guys "ride" or not, but I am always up for a trip up the moutain or down to warrior river. Lots of good roads with a mix of sweepers and the tight stuff. email me (chris@ducatimonster.org) We have regular bike nights (TGIF on 280 on thurs.) in the moto world, do you have these for cars as well? later guys chris ONOFIVEO 02-18-2005, 05:20 AM Welcome DucGasm! :D Good to have another member in the area. What's your color, options, mods, etc. The local Miata club, CAMS, is inviting other Mazda models to join their ranks. They are very organized and have been in existence for 14 years. Membership offers several benefits, including organized drive-outs, discounts on parts and other special events. CAMS is having a tech day at MedCenter in April for members. I've joined CAMS and some of the 7 owners have too. You can check out this thread: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=52388 You may also want to look at the http://www.rx8web.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=693&highlight=herblenny for info on an April road trip Deal's Gap. There is also a Sept trip to the Gap here: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=44970&highlight=dragon . There will be more 8s at the latter, but all rotaries are invited to both. DucGasm 02-18-2005, 10:32 PM Yeah man, I would love to go back up to Deal's, but unfortunately, I had a minor misuderstanding with one of the local constables last October, and consequently am not allowed back in N.C. for another year or I can face some sorta "go to insurance hell" citation and/or possible jail. Ohh, and of course a temporary "revoking of Mr. license." It is quite a story, but I can sum it up with "the 3rd time he caught us." Here is some pics when I was there: http://duc-gasm.myshots.net/albums/Ducati-Monster-S4/prpv.jpg Make sure yall check out Cherohola (sp?) it is truely a great road, maybe better than Deal's, but d@MN cops are terrible. And if when you see bikes in the rear view, they dont want to race, they just want around. here is my 8 http://duc-gasm.myshots.net/albums/zoom-zoom/DSCN0187.jpg -nothing special in the mods. I was thinking about doing a whole suspension/struts/sways and intake/exhaust just after Christmas. But, I talked to some folks at AutoLabz and they basicly said that nobody really "rides" they just sit around showing how cool thier cars are. They said it was more of a status thing down here, so I elected to dump a grand or so in the bike. Managed to get some really trick sh!t and saved enough money to get in some track time this summer. Already signed up for 2 days, and hoping to get to more! I really would like to get involved with some others who actually like driving though. Most folks I meet have really shiny cars they are afraid to get dirty. They have enough blinking lights and glow kits to put a bug zapper to shame, and can recite the spec sheet like it is a bible. But, have no intrest in actually riding. Isn't that the purpose of a sports car? I dont mean to sound like I can drive. I can't. I can't drive worth a sh!t. But, I will go "smoke-it" around a corner to the point I am scared shitless and just about the time I realize I made it threw, it is time to set up for the next turn. ONOFIVEO 02-19-2005, 09:15 AM Sounds like you're definitely riding the heck out of that bike. You get one of those ol' fashioned escorts out of town? You just missed the last CAMS meeting. Some are headed to GA today. I think the Ala SCCA will be doing some SOLO running at the Bham Race Course on Sun morning 2/20. Nice looking 8 you got there. Red and Black are my favorite colors. It was a toss up between the two. The spouse made the final call. misterwilson007 02-22-2005, 01:55 PM what's everyone been up to?? Looking forward to the gap run?? misterwilson007 02-22-2005, 01:57 PM this is my 200th post.........wow i've really spent alot of time on this site.........i need to to find another fix for my severe case of boredom ONOFIVEO 02-22-2005, 09:45 PM 200, man I'd better catch up. I booked my room for the Gap today. I'm really looking forward to it. We've got to get more 8s on this trip. :D ONOFIVEO 03-06-2005, 11:56 AM Magic City Mazda Mania coming May 28, 2005. Details to come. Microbe Hunter 03-15-2005, 06:24 PM Want to report 2 more 8's in Bham - actually Mt Brook. Mine is red/blk 6 speed and a neighbor has a black 6 speed. Great car which replaced my Miata. Any opinions on the quality of service between Trussville and Med Center? Herblenny 03-16-2005, 08:33 AM Trussville and Med Center are owned by the same people.. but I like Trussville better because of the people who work there. ONOFIVEO 03-17-2005, 05:00 AM Welcome to the club. My only experience is with Trussville. Never a problem with anything there. Parts are available at discounted prices too. Zelig 06-14-2005, 03:45 AM Want to throw my hat in the ring around here- albeit a little prematurely. I bought an 05 titanium 6 sp last week, and will be moving to Tuscaloosa in about 3 weeks from Los Angeles. I'd say I'm in for a culture shock, but we really don't have any culture out here in L.A., so I can't imagine any kind of shock... Scouted a place to live last week just in time for the junior hurricaine. How do the weather seals work on these cars? How often do you folks show up at Barber Motorsports Park? I have four incredible tracks within 1:45 of me here, so I'm a little nervous... Zelig Herblenny 06-14-2005, 11:08 PM Zelig, Bunch of us are planning to head out to Barber's track for a race in july.
