I bought Red Line MT-90 for my tranny and 75W90 gear oil. Anything thing special I should know when changing these fluids besides to drain and refill?

Thanks...

you need a filler / trans pump thing. im not sure what it is called but a pepboys or any auto place would have it. but u basically need that to refil the oil. good luck.

magparts,

I'm in your area. Can you tell me where you got your Red Line and for how much?

A quick search of this forum section for "fluid change" turned up a whole bunch of directly relevant threads where we've posted procedures for doing this change. Here's a good sample thread to read: Changing Transmission oil (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=19006&highlight=change+fluid).

My recommended procedure is described in there - basically, forget those messy, fiddly pump things and just use a funnel and pour the damn fluid in! :D

I will do my transmission oil change later this week and I've decided to go Gord's "no pump" method.

I also did the swap using the “ no pump” method without any problems. I attached the funnel to a piece of clear ˝” plastic hose. For the trans you run the hose through the engine compartment down to the transmission. For the rear I ran the hose through the driver side rear wheel to the fill hole.
